FORESTELLA (Korean crossover vocal group) are considered the kings of harmonies. They have just turned "Bad Romance" upside down with their new version, which has attracted worldwide attention. Each voice is unique on its own, but when they create these incredible harmonies together, it blows your mind. They cover songs of all genres and in multiple languages (phonetically), adding their own flavor and, always respecting the original, making the song their own. Listening to them means "goosebumps and shudders" without end and addictive.
Their “ je suis malade” is stunning, please do react to that song.

This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.
You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with Bad Romance which seems toxic version of their Lazenca Save Us, winning 5 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs.
Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano falsetto voice), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Recently Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be executed.

Even Queen didn't do the operatic section, live. They played a video and left the stage, then returned for the end. My thinking is same as you... THIS is probably what Freddie had in mind when he wrote this. Yes, I hope Brian and Roger have heard this. Equally I hope Lady Gaga hears their version of Bad Romance, and Ed Sheerin hears their version of Shape of You. A wee warning... If you React to "Je suis Malade" have tissues handy. It is simply stunning and emotional. 😭
Unfortunately for a lot of us Forestella was pretty much just known in exclusively in Korea until recently. They've been a group since 2018, but only became known to people outside of Korea if they were fans of Korean music variety programs. I discovered them in may 2019 when they performed this on the musical variety show Immortal Songs 2. When that performance was uploaded here it went viral and that was their first exposure outside of Korea. Since then they have performed on Immortal Songs many more times and had some minor international success through going viral.
But it wasn't until the past year, when they joined a new management company with a whole different philosophy, that they finally really became an international success (I like to attribute this to the fact that this new company, Beat Entertainment, is woman owned and operated! LOL! Women get shit done!) Although they are classical crossover, they are promoted as if they are more like a k-pop group. They appeared on music shows that extended their reach to younger k-pop viewers. Their look and fashion became more youthful and trendy and most recently they did their most successful appearance on Immortal Songs! @@user-ny6ye5ue9h a Korean group doesn't immeditely mean a k-pop group. In fact, there are many more genres in Korean music, but we rarely get to hear them. So, it's very natural but wrong at the same time to presume they are also k-pop. The truth is, it's a completely different thing.

A Korean singer is active in Korea, sings and releases an album in Korean, but if that's not kpop, what is kpop? Kpop doesn't really follow a genre. There is no need to categorize.😓

Also, I hate to disappoint you, but Forestella doesn't sing only in Korean. There are a lot (and I mean A LOT) of songs by them in many other languages, mostly European, covering many different genres from rock to opera, to ballads, etc. The overwhelming majority of them are not even slightly related to k-pop. The same goes with their album songs. Still call the group k-pop? There's just no logic in that!

That was a great reaction, I just subbed. I'm glad you found the kings of beautiful harmonies! Each of the members has a great voice, but when they sing together it's pure magic.
Their group name is a mixture of "forest" and the Latin/Italian word "stella", which means star. So Forestella means a forest of stars.
Their names from left to right in this video: Ko Woorim (classically trained bass), Kang Hyungho (countertenor and rock voice, no vocal training), Cho Mingyu (tenor and leader of the group), Bae Doohoon (tenor, musical actor).
You can't go wrong with any of their performances. Some recommendations: Hijo de la luna, Je suis malade, Spread Silk on my heart, Inner universe, Time in a bottle, Nella Fantasia and of course their own beautiful song "Save our Lives" (the music video is a cinematic masterpiece).
I would like to suggest another new artist for your channel: Zhou Shen. He's one of the most popular singers in China. His voice didn't change during puberty so is he is naturally high pitched and has the voice of an angel. The group name Forestella has a long story (through Phantom Singer 2 audition 3 of them other than Kang HyungHo were in same team named Forest and welcoming HyungHo as a star they changed it into Forestella.) So for a while they called HyungHo as Stella but HyungHo didn't like it. Therefore it was changed into a phrase of their music direction like as they'll make music comforting like forests and shining like stars. Now they use it to define their concept Forest for more peaceful healing harmonious, Stella for more flamvoyant strong impactful. For example Save our lives is Forest concept, Bad Romance is Stella concept.

There are quite few singers in K-Pop that should be better known in the Western world, but aren’t played on the radio or TV. But it’s actually not specific to K-Pop - we don’t get much French music either although it’s a neighbouring country. Fortunately there’s yt and streaming nowadays. Admittedly, quite a bit is „poppy“, but there are really good singers, which you’ll see in acoustic or stripped down live performances rather than the music videos. Anyway, I hope you check out more e.g. Taeyeon live.
