    I'm not a camper nor am I a tourer, but I just love these setups. So frigging practical and beautifully engineered. I can see myself using it partly for work and part recreation.

    As a fabricator welder also working with Aluminium it's great work, "but" with all the potential to carry so much weight I hope the chassis has been strengthened as well. There are countless dual cabs from all makes with broken chassis' from overloading and towing.

    After seeing this vehicle personally, it is with out doubt, the best canopy i have seen by a very big margin. The vehicle is also done brilliantly.
    The quality, attention to detail and thoughtfulness is mind blowing
    But more, the craftsmanship, fit and finish is just next level
    That thing is built with pride and some serious skills
    You simply don't get that with other products
    I could spot it from 80meters away, that it was something of beauty.
    The sparky work (being a sparky myself) was incredible, attention to detail everywhere you looked. I was very envious and hats off to the fella that did it.

    Holy crap mate, that is hands down one of the best setups I’ve seen in a long time, and would look incredible on my PXII Ranger. I’ve just posted the wife and kids for sale on Gumtree to start saving the coin towards making this a reality, so lets hope people don’t waste my time with low ball offers and they sell quick. I wonder if Norweld would take them as a deposit if they don’t sell on Gumtree?

    Fabulous set up! Finally something that has made me rethink our Jeep GC Overland with all its creature comforts - to a BT50 or Ranger, just to have something like this to allow functional use of storage space. I love ours - but it seems you always want something that is on the bottom or at the back and you have often to go through every tub... and Solar on double pain sun roof is near impossible, unless you use the rack - but then they are under gear. I LOVE it!!!
    All important Q though - can I ask what this canopy cost, with all the kit? Thanks. Brad.

    Hi guys,
    Loving your trip vids. My wife and I are retiring mid next year. Looking at the new 300 series Landcruiser to pull our 21’ Roadstar full off road GT cross country. Really liking some of your equipment. For example, your foldable fire pit, your roof rack with your car topper boat. My question is, where can we source the above equipment for our journeys around this wonderful country.

    Nice build! What gauge cable to did you run from DCDC charger to cranking battery? I'm running the same charger and same size lithium battery, and getting 40a off idle as well. I was looking through the manual and noticed that theres settings to bump the DCDC charger up to 50a. I ran 6gauge cable so i reckon it'll handle it too!

    • @TripInAVan
      @TripInAVan  6 лет назад

      Hey mate, we have 10mm cable running through to the canopy. I haven't checked the manual for the wire size guide but we run 40 amps no drama's. Not sure if i need any more charging amps going in but i reckon it would handle it.

    I'd get the basis canopy because I need it for work, my major concern with it I guess is the increased centre of gravity compared to factory tub. Have you noticed the ute a lot of more tippy on side angles?

    • @TripInAVan
      @TripInAVan  5 лет назад +2

      Abu7929 it’s definitely different to drive off road now. Having a lot of weight on the back makes steep low range hill climbs a bit more difficult. But haven’t noticed it being too tippy at all, but we don’t do much hardcore 4x4. Mainly beach work and Bush campgrounds🤙

    I know I'm going backward with yr vids but nice rig brother....I'm currently design's building an all new idea for solo canopy travel / idea comes from coupe yrs roaming Oz and camping a few ways I've come up with an idea that is not done ( I've seen one in the USA home made ) so I advanced it what he'd done out of timed we are building from aluminium checker plate.... Will turn an OLD tub or try into a master bedroom / with a full queen bed storage slides out of tube 700 to make a full size bed... roof raised 300 to accom draws under bed...
    As it's solo travel took back seat out made a atflrm leveled area / fridge, air compressor canister set 2 stack draws out drivers side one with beside road cook stuff you know that quick feed / kettle ect.....behind I tow a tub trailor of same modle as truck custom canopy on top removable so if I take the lady and her boy fridge goes in trailer with other freezer / so BASICLY canopy on top of trailor tail gate opens to storage all things from seats to table fits it's good.... canopy on top acts same as yrs ACTULLY hope ya done mind as it's in build I'll going to copy yr 12v
    I've not heard of the company yr USEING.. ... anyways I'd live to share my build with y'all and when I hit the roads unlike MARCH if yr still out there maybe share a cuppa and check out what we both have build /
    Mate you and yr krew ( lady and children ) inspire me to take my lady..... she not mum if my children they grown livi g lives.... my lady only camper like.maybe 2 times b4 she met me and I run away from the city where we are right now like once a month for a few days I can't handle it / I'm only here for her and to build this new rig to live in /
    I also see it as a BUGOUT truck/
    Anyway
    God Bless be safe

      Robert Bruce cheers mate, your rig sounds great!! I’d love to catch up and check it out if we cross paths! And I absolutely don’t mind if you copy our 12volt system. My full names Robert Bruce I'm from Far North QLD up on table lands but am.in Wyong NSW for this build..... my sister.is at Millaa Millaa on table lands if it on yr path DO go up there is magical / Barron falls ect / at Millaa Millaa there ate about 4 water falls in marriage area / and the Hot Springs are a nice stop for a night and a good old soak it's children friendly as well and nice camp ground with child safe fences all round /
      Anyway if yr keen to follow me building F3TIME / Truk name.....hit me up on email and I'll send some pics...
      In 2009 10 ML 3m2lt Triton won it's class in Dacar Rally / the supersellect gear box us hard to find this is why I brought the rig for the gearbox lol her I know the new 3.2lt turbo deisel arrives from Japan this week should be at mechanics next week..... then it starts.......
      Budget 50k.... engine was 4400 +200 delivery / Brisbane Japanese engine imports....
      Great service......
      Anyway so live what y'all are doing with yr children don't bring them back to society it's getting very messed up.......they are so much better of being raised the way yr raising them they will be outstanding adults....... I raised 3 alone mother junkie all none drinkers or drugs both boys work in mines as sparkies and daughter sells trucks 😉 she males me smile 24 could sell oil to Arabs.....
      Ok so by now y'all either think this dudes a crazy and we should block him..... lol that would be understandable but to say I just like what y'all are doing and it excites me to be doing what I am and to share it with somebody whom appreciates the effort....
      Sorry I talk to much....

    Hi Buddy, been following you guys since before this build and the new van and you have now been running the canopy for a while over at time some pretty narly ground too. Whats the approx loaded weight of the canopy on the BT and did you give consideration to the weight behind the axle in view of the issue some cabs have had with breaking the back of the chassis. I want ot do the same but am concerned about the behind axle weight on my 2009 DMax ???

    I'm about to get my first 4x4 this year for touring & wondering if you could explain your 12v setup in the van if you haven't already in another video. I've got the Redarc Manager 30 for battery management plus the Redarc Redvision TVMS to control switching, accessories etc. Initially I was looking to install in the tourer but now the wife wants me to also look at a camping trailer so I will need some form of 12v system in there for lighting etc. Main power can come from the car via an anderson plug.

    Beautiful set up. I’ve been told (by the misses) that we need a canopy ( for the same reasons Bec has said). Just wondering 1/ is this a lift off model and 2/ what is the length of it? I’m worried about going to long for the leverage factor when towing and making sure the corners clear the front of the camper trailer when turning.

    • @TripInAVan
      @TripInAVan  5 лет назад +2

      Jason Rowe this one doesn’t lift off but you can get one identical that will. If your worried about length they do a compact version that’s a touch shorter and might be perfect for you. Ours clears the caravan fine though when at full lock💪
