new anime suggestion: Frieren journey to the end, explores mortality Wes Suggestion: Dr.Stone, modern man attempts to modernize the Stone Age if he's down for VR based anime, SAO or the new, Shangri La Frontier Phil, Benson Suggestion: Odd Taxi Chris Suggestion: Vinland Saga, it has VIKINGS Taylor Suggestion: Zom 100, A guy fulfilling his 100 listed bucket list during a Zombie apocalypse K-Drama fans: My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Personal Pick: Kino's Journey, explores different styles of government
How did DEATH NOTE not come up once? That's the ultimate gateway IMO. I recommend MONSTER to anyone and everyone, even non-anime fans. Also CASTLEVANIA (This one is Western animated but very anime inspired). Just finished EDGERUNNERS also and will refer that as well. Others include: CODE GEASS SAMURAI SHAMPLOO VIOLET EVERGARDEN SOUL EATER BLACK LAGOON
FMAB, attack on titan, demon slayer, JJK, one punch man, aggretsuko, parastye, cells at work…can literally go on forever depending on what genre. pretty much any studio ghibli movie. Can’t go wrong with the classics like pokemon, dbz, yugioh, one piece, bleach, Naruto, cowboy bebop, any gundam series. Not an anime per se but since it’s based on Asian people, avatar lol
I think a lot of the cast would like Violet Evergarden! Beautiful artwork and more dramatic~ also I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Your Name if you want to get hit in the feels or horimiya as another kdrama-like style
I watched AoT, Death Note, Dragon Ball, FairyTail, Naruto, and Your Lie in April, Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, Yuri on Ice, and Howl's Moving Castle. I got into it for a bit (like playing the piano, trying ice skating, buying shirts and cards, and reading mangas) but I haven't finished any series besides Your Lie in April. Out of the ones I did watch, Death Note and Your Lie in April are good starters.
Komi can’t communicate, horimiya, restaurant to another world 1&2, romantic killer, frieren: beyond journeys end, the way of the househusband, mashle: magic and muscles, Oshi no ko, too cute crisis, bocchi the rock, aharen San wa hakarenai, aggresuko, blue period. Recommend movies : your name and silent voice
I wouldn't be surprised if Wes was into the Hellsing OVA and since he's into Evangelion, would probably like Big O. Phil can be into either comedy or be into something more thought-provoking. Light-hearted shows like One Punch Man and Spy X Family were already mentioned but I think perhaps Phil can be into the original FLCL (maybe Taylor would like it also). It's very comedic but highlights teenage angst and somehow gives me nostalgia every time I watch it. Cowboy Bebop was also mentioned. It leaves me feeling empty after every viewing. I think Phil would like Bebop for something on the opposite end of the spectrum. I think anime movies are the way to go and would be more digestible for them though. I find similarities b/t Wes' work and Makoto Shinkai's so there's a chance he's familiar w/ his work already. The Miyazaki films have also been talked about a ton throughout the years from the Wong Fu crew (Wes cosplayed as Totoro before). Ghost in the Shell and Akira are classics among even the more casual anime fans. Some others I like are The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Perfect Blue.
Eden of the East is good, Benson would like Dr, Stone, or grimgar ashes and illusions. Some fun anime to watch Suzuka, kino's journey and knight in the area. Phil could try Hotarubi no Mori e or Mushishi

Avatar: The Last Airbender is NOT an anime lol. It was produced in Burbank, CA and is therefore, not a product of Japan.
No "Oshi No Ko" being recommended?

My favourites that I recommend:
A Place Further Than The Universe
Suzume
Your Lie in April
A Silent Voice
Hunter x Hunter
Made in Abyss
Starter english friendly anime should be Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-gi-oh, Dragon Ball.
I have a crush on jessica
I hope they can video Asian American books and authors
Slam Dunk was magnificent
wes should watch ghost in the shell, akira, and evangelion
phil should watch honey and clover, orange, and tomo-chan
wes dressed up as shinji from evangelion for anime expo in an old wong fu weekends episode!
orange is good but i think phil would hate how slow it is LOL
I'm surprised "Sakamoto desu ga" wasn't brought up. Ridiculousness at its finest~
Bocchi the rock!
