Not sure if the valve dropped or if rings failed. Heres a thing i learned with my crf250r. the honda factory radiators aren't the best. I had a time when i once let a friend ride my bike and it overheated in the top end area and caused a valve to get stuck in the down position and slap against the piston eventually causing a lock up. Part of it was my fault however.. being my 16 year old self before the track day i had put fresh radiator fluid but i didn't pay attention to whether or not it was 50/50 or not. So it actually turned out to be just concentrate going into the radiator. Because of this it ran VERY hot and had no cooling properties. So i guess it wasn't entirely honda's engineering with their radiators.. But i'll say this... after that happened, i had the motor built by procircuit and then i put a set of upgraded radiators with engine ice. and the engine has been perfectly fine since 2007. I would even go as far to say that the factory fluid is no necessary... drain and replace with engine ice. it will run cooler. Its a thinner mixture probably 70/30 of water to antifreeze.

i dont ride dirt bikes or profess to know much about engines, but im guessing what happened by listening is after that one jump your tire was slipping, and it went wayyyy up past what it should (you can hear the sudden spike in revs) or the rev limiter went out (if it has one) and it just got over worked. not being much of a handy man, id part the thing outm scrap what i cant sell then replace it
Damian Moczulewski Ok, that's why a KTM SXF 450 tops out at 123mph and the KTM SX 250 only tops out at 71mph. If you knew anything about motorcycles you would know the only reason the 2 stroke is ahead is because it accelerates faster.
I take it you're referring to 2 strokes, the KTM 85sx has the most power of the 85's, they have roughly 26hp. The new 2016 KTM 125 SX is the most powerful of all the 125's as well putting down roughly 40hp, and then you have the 2016 KTM 150sx which has roughly 44hp.

+Tyler Queen rev limiters are made to help prevent this, but yeah too much and there she goes. Also rev limiters are made so ya don't float ya valves. needless to say too much wide open throttle with no resistance
hard to tell. most likely floated a valve. Hondas crfs have trouble with the valves. my crf 250 did the same thing. best way to fix it is to put in stiffer springs. such as kibblewhite. they are the best on the market. but they are hella expensive. you pay for what you get

Hell yeah brother I love 2 strokes I have owned 450s to but I would never switch to a thumper just to much money to keep them things going.I can rebuild my 2 stroke with in 3 hours by my self and still have money to eat on lol.

Dylan Aarhus I know they can rev, read what I said again. A 250f engine is too high strung which is why they pop so often. They have to rev too high to make power, pair this with the headache of thendohc and the valves and they are maintenance disasters. A 150sx offers the same power, just lighter with way less maintenance and repair costs.
