    Love the bottom layer trick. I'll be sure to leave it alone because my hair is so thin too. I really need that density to keep from seeing through my curls.

    • @TheGlamBelle
      @TheGlamBelle  3 года назад +1

      yes maam! That's exactly why I leave that part out. As soon as my bottom portion is layered, it looks see through! haha

    Thank you so much for sharing this! This is exactly how I want my hair cut. I’ve been to so many curly hairstylists and I still can’t get the cut I want. I have very thick, dense hair, therefore it becomes very heavy and the top flattens out and the sides are fluffy. I hate when this happens and I usually end up pulling my hair up in a bun on top of my head. I want to be able to style it and wear in the cut/style that you have. It’s beautiful! Thank you for embracing your curl and sharing with others.

      Omg me too. And I will take a photo and I tell them I like my hair wild. The wilder the better. And what happens they do this nice perfect little cut and no volume. My curls just stay like normal and no shape really. It’s hard to find somebody that knows how to work with curly hair . I’ve even had a couple of hairstylists say oh you have thick hair you don’t want all those layers it’s too much, you won’t like it wild looking 😳 I said actually yes I really do like it looking wild. The wilder with volume the better for me. And they start cutting and it’s not wild it’s a neat cut like they were too scared to take a risk 🤦🏽‍♀️

    I struggled with finding the right shape for my low density wonky curly hair. Three (expensive) deva cuts later and 7 inches in length lost later I still was unhappy. And unhappy how it kept getting shorter. Welp saw your video and thought why not try it myself. I shaped my grandsons curly head before and so figured it couldn’t be harder and your tips on where to section, how to keep density at the bottom were awesome. All I can say is wow. I have the rounded shape I’ve been wanting, I don’t have that George Washington shaped hair style anymore and it cost me zero dollars. I’m canceling my next appointment and cutting my own hair from now on!!! THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!

    I am ready to try this. I've often trimmed excess length, but never the whole head. I have NEVER found anyone who could cut my hair. Traveled 3 hours to NYC for a DEVA curl haircut and it turned out horrible. Stylist was very inexperienced. Just coming off another bad haircut from someone who came highly recommended. She's supposedly been cutting curly hair for 30 years and she did a horrific job. Gave me the dreaded shelf look. Gotta grow that out and then I am going to watch this video again and try my luck. I have (I think) 3b/3C hair and it is pretty thick. Wish me luck!

    Wow Brandi, you did such a nice job! :) You're so right to say not to cut the underlayer of fine lower density hair, that's why I don't do that myself. But I always struggle with the crown area... next time I 'follow' some of your instructions so thanks for that. (I do like the personal dry curl by curl cutting far more over a too styled polished curlsys technique actually...that cuts all look the same)

    • @TheGlamBelle
      @TheGlamBelle  3 года назад +1

      yes maam :) I really hope that you were able to get a few tips from this video that will help you going forward. And I agree. Id much rather have the dry curl by curl cut.... at least for what style I like for my hair :)

    I suggest everyone with fine thin curly hair watch this along with Manes by Mel's pigtail cut video. I loved Mel's video - so useful and great to get advice on cutting your own hair from a professional stylist but wished she'd talked about what to do if you have a bit shorter hair, shouder length and also if it's fine and thin. Now with this great video those with hair Iike ours can be confident they have a good understanding of what to do if they want to cut their own hair, especially if it hasn't been layered before. Thank you so much Brandi.

      @@TheGlamBelle I'm sure it will and help prevent those "cutting your own hair" disasters you hear about. Some with hair not at all suitable for the unicorn cut have still done it with not good results. You together with Mel have instructed everyone so well - thanks again.😀

    This is exactly the cut that I want! My stylist tells me that I don't want short layers at the top. Should I just tell her to go for it because I'm a risk taker and it's just hair. It will grow back. My hair texture is just like yours and very thin, so I think this cut would be great for me!

    My hair is quite a bit shorter than yours. Due to the shutdown of all the salons last year, I started cutting my own hair. My husband would laugh because it would take me a week to cut it all and get it just like I wanted it. I'm sure it could use a professional cut sometime soon, but it worked out to do this for now. My salon is 45 minutes away...small town problems. lol

    • @TheGlamBelle
      @TheGlamBelle  3 года назад

      haha! YES! This is why it's nice to know how to cut your own... even if its not as great as a professional cut. Sometimes we need to be able to do our own in cases like yours. You can always get a good professional cut once a year and then do your own trims throughout the year :)

    I love the way your hair turned out! When I cut mine, I did the "Unicorn" cut, just to get split ends off. Then, I did wash and style and do a few spot corrections here and there. My back is not quite as rounded as I would like, I prefer a 'U' shape, but overall, it turned out ok. Except for the part where I cut my hand.🤣🤣

    • @TheGlamBelle
      @TheGlamBelle  3 года назад +1

      I did those the same time I did the front side pieces. I don’t do the front layers any different. I just do them when I do the front side. Those end up being the shortest and working down to the ends.
