Your description as "a gentleman's car" is exactly right. It's smashing.

These jags are super.i am on my 2nd x350,a super v8.plastic wood, how rude, its real wood and leather. completeley agree with you about the style.it really is the last proper jag.i have had jags for 33years,nothing else compares, arguably not even my silver spirit.really good review,oh and i like rovers to,especially the p4 and p5.

Famous Jaguar XJ sagging headlining present and correct. I have the X358 diesel (remapped 260bhp and 400lb ft torque), a fabulous car with no sagging headlining (yet).

Elegant looking car and they all drive very nicely. Even the biggest engine versions can return remarkable economy. Underrated IMO. That colour (ultraviolet?) is very striking but a real problem to patch and match. A whole repaint is probably the only answer in a lot of cases. The headlining issue is an unforgivable failing in any modern car but in high end stuff like this, it's shocking. Jaguar aren't the only culprits though.

Excellent video of a lovely car, thanks! IMHO Ford added greatly to Jaguar during their ownership and produced some fine cars. If it weren't for crazy California smog regulations I'd have one of these as my daily driver. Until a few years ago I had a 1972 XJ6 with a Chevy 5.7 V8 fitted.....now THAT was a car!!!!! Back brakes failed coming off the motorway one day, but that's another story........

Thank you for not spending 10 minutes describing the body and design features. Most reviewers think they are on the bloody radio and that we can't see the thing for ourselves. Well Done

I liked the review. I've always liked the XJ, and the road presence that they have. I am happy to say that finally I have managed to get one. I got mine from Wales, and drove the car 400 miles to Scotland. You are spot on with the comments, and the car I purchased was faultless on the drive back home. I bought a 3.0 Sport V6 Pacific blue 88 k.

Brilliant video that's just reignited my interest in Jags. Had a few but sold my last one 9 years ago and was never keen on this last XJ, but they've really grown on me in last few years.
Nothing looks or drives like an XJ , they are pure British class on 4 wheels.
If you had an N-reg XJ though you had a X300 with the straight 6 which IMHO was a much smoother engine for better waftability .
X308 came out in 1997 , with the V8, nikasil liners and all that cost Jaguar millions in warranty claims for failed engines.

still plenty of them around and they are now quite cheap.
      my one xj6 daimler v6petrol on a 2005 plate done 104k miles
runs down to southern italy every summer.
still turns heads and drives beautifully

Post XJ Jag sedans look like anything else. XJ designs really are "unmistakably" classic Jags. These Jags are like the older Rolls & Bentleys in terms of classis British design.

I think its 'Dame-ler' not 'Dime-ler', the latter being an entirely separate German company.
The Rover parcel shelf accessory hat doesn't seem quite correct in a Jaguar. Perhaps something tweedy is needed 😃
Fifteen or so years ago I set off to the nearby auctions to buy a Jaguar X Type, the one based upon Ford Mondeo. I ended up cutting out the middle man and coming back with a Mondeo 😁

I like the older Jaguar sedans too, the new ones look like Hyundai cars not Jaguar like at all. Also the new ones do not drive like a Jaguar either. 😎👍🇨🇦

Lovely cars the older but last of the line jags properly built shame about the headlining in these cars just like a lot of British cars I have a 16 yr old Toyota avensis and not a sign of saggy headlining it's built like a tank and still completely rust free and trouble free

I have driven one and it is a lovely ride. If only Rover wasn’t part of British Leyland and was able to compete against Jaguar. This might have meant fewer imports. M.

The rear tyres really look not right in the beginning. Probably an air suspension issue? They are not levelled.

  • @johnmoruzzi7236
    @johnmoruzzi7236 2 года назад +2

The engine sounds gruff when working because it is a 90 degree V6 not a 60 degree which it should really be, Jaguar got creative and just ignored the rear 2 cylinders on their V8 so that everything would slot in just the same. It’s just not as well balanced or revvy as say the Rover KV6 and nothing like a proper smooth straight 6. The other Jag V6 in the X Type etc is based on the Ford equivalent, they all came from Jaguar’s own assembly line within the Ford Bridgend plant.

A lot of different opinions on this review. It's a No no from me. Just because of it's Length and Width. Parking it outside of my terraced home. Would infringe on my neighbour's parking space. If I had a driveway different story. 👍👍

This is strangely equipped; satnav yet no heated seats. Memory seats, yet no Alpine sound system. And not a V8! No, we in the US Got the V8 only, hence the Jaguar XJ8!
Oh, and no glass sunroof, but it does have a sagging headliner.
I must admit I really like the colour, but then again, blue IS my favourite colour!

I think all the cars that came over here to the USA were top spec; all the ones I see here in CA seem to have all the extras.

I do like these and part of me would very much like to have one. But there’s the overwhelming stench of provincial factory owner in his mid range M&S suit and carrying his archaic attitude to employee relations in a briefcase he got for Christmas 8 years ago. Driven arrogantly twixt detached house on the new estate, the ramshackle factory with it’s clearly marked Jag space, the cheapest golf club in the area and the Toby Carvery. Shame.

What are you British and not English?
It’s almost as though you’re frightened to say English.
