Thank you for being humble and cracking jokes as you played. I much rather learn games from someone who just genuinely likes the game vs someone who is hardcore into playing and winning. I play Wingspan a lot because it's fun whether you win or lose.
Thank you for the great feedback. That's what we do at the Tabletop Knights! Board Games are about fun so we try to relay that to our viewers. Thanks heaps for tuning in.
According to Wingspan rules, "for each bird you keep you must discard one food token". You kept 3 birds in your hand at the beginning - meaning you should have only kept 2 food tokens.
But then he paid one more food token than needed, so its fine :D
yes he paid 2 tokens berries plus invertebrate for the wren. it should have been one or the other not both
@@Aleboth93 but he did not pay any token at all for the Chickadee
Thank you so much for clearly explaining the end of round scoring for the automa. Also, you’ve got a great set up! Sound and all. Thank you for the work!
At the very beginning, when you chose to keep 3 of your starting cards, you only paid 2 food.
Cant trust Greg with solo videos anymore... nah just kidding. Thanks for pointing that out. We plan to play this with living birds soon!!
I dislike your comment Victor! Both from a trust and live bird perspective. But a bird in the hand is worth two in the Jeremy Bush! Keep watching.
A few missplays there... besides the aforementioned less paid food for starting hand... when you played the second bird it was “this food OR the other” and you payed both... and at the end, when you got the eggs, you forgot to slide the cube and activate the bird power that would give you another egg.
@@morserus999 actually when he played his second bird, he didn't pay any food. He had a food he shouldn't have had from the beginning, then he didn't pay the two food required for the bird in the grasslands.
Mariano Fonseca actually second bird was played correctly. Take a look at the food cost: it has invertebrate + grain. He paid both
This game is fun because it is challenging to grasp the rules. And I like how this game is about real life while all the games in the background are fantasy, but still it's so good!
It’s super easy to grasp the rules. It’s much harder to master.
Minute 12:00, you pay two resources to play a bird, but I believe it only costs one.
Very keen eyes you have! Thanks for the comment!
@@TabletopKnights No need for me to say that then! I'm only 12:14 in and am still just "slightly" confused. But it's late and I am having a tad drink.. You did warn against that. 😂. I'll watch again and put my board out and try to follow along. Thanks for this.
@@frizzydizzycreations4085 cheers Stacy. Pause the video between sips so you can concentrate!
I noticed that mistake as well. Pay food “either/or” NOT “this + that”. I’m just learning this game and it’s a tough one on the human players. Loved the review. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎
At 9:12 you place the bird but forgot to pay the food! Poor Automa! :)
Thanks for the great video, saved me from having to read the Automa manual
Thanks for putting out this video - it gave me enough understanding to be able to play the computer version without getting confused (they don’t have a tutorial for the automa for some reason??)
There is one rule mix up in the video I wanted to mention, at 13:47:
For the automa’s “play a bird” ability, you do not discard all the birds in the tray (discarding all the birds in the tray only happens with the automa’s “draw cards” action). I re-read the rules and then I confirmed by playing the computer version.
If any cards match the automa’s goal card, the automa only takes those out. If there’s more than one that matches, it takes the highest point card and only tosses the other ones that also matched. It doesn’t say anything about discarding the full tray.
If no cards match, the automa takes a facedown card from the deck. No cards discarded from the tray. So in this case, the automa should have drawn a facedown card, and not touched the cards in the tray.
Here is the exact wording from the automa rule book:
Play a Bird: From the 3 face-up cards on the bird tray, pick up ALL that meet the requirement of the Automa’s bonus card.
Of these cards, the Automa will keep 1 card with the highest point value. If there are multiple cards with the same highest point value, it makes no difference which one the Automa keeps. Place it face-up in the Automa ́s supply and discard the rest. Face-up birds are worth their stated point value at the end of the game.
If NO birds meet the requirement, draw 1 face-down bird card and place it face-down in the Automa’s supply. Face-down birds are worth 3, 4, or 5 points at the end of the game based on the difficulty level you chose (4 points for normal difficulty).
I. Love. Wingspan. Ordered it with the European expansion direct from the publisher which I've never done before as its still sold out everywhere else I've looked in the UK
Nice. I'm keen to get the Oceania expansion also.
Thanks for teaching me how to play the Automa version, much appreciated 😊
Ooh doesnt the Automa have one egg head start from the automa round card?
Great explanation Greg. Really like the colour scheme and art
Thanks, it's probably more fun to play than watch! - Greg
For end of round scoring, you say you have 8 points but you actually have 14
Wouldn't the automa have 1 egg in the grassland based on having a 1 egg advantage based on the end of round scoring card? I'm just learning how to play Automa and I've struggled, so it would be nice to know. Thank you so much!
Really interested in this one, Art is amazing
We have a playthrough already recorded in this. Just not sure how it will translate to RUclips.
excellent walkthrough! 🤙
Thank you so much!
Thanks for tuning in!
Glad i checked out your version of the single player mode, they really need an app to handle that side of things (like Dune). Ill stick with playing this one exclusively with real people, thanks a bunch!
Cheers Fonsly. I still managed to get a few things wrong but glad it helped.
Why do you call the Automa "he"?
haha. don't read into it to much.
@@TabletopKnights haha. sexism
@@Shawmark Oh no I hope we don't get cancelled for calling something that isn't real or a real being a he.
@@TabletopKnights I'm certain that you won't !! You ok?
@Dr. D Are you a man?
