This is worse than the time Bill stepped on a butterfly and erased Pete from existence! 😂
I miss Pete he was such a good character
Pete is my favourite companion
Who's Pete?
Pete don’t get the recognition he deserves, arguably best companion ever and people act like he never existed 😆😆
@Andrew_Kearney ...your friend, Pete!
Bill: Yeah. Traveling to the past, There's got to be rules. If I step on a butterfly, it could send ripples through time that mean I'm not even born in the first place and I could just disappear.
DOCTOR: Definitely. I mean, that's what happened to Pete.
BILL: Pete?
DOCTOR: Your friend, Pete. He was standing there a moment ago, but he stepped on a butterfly and now you don't even remember him.
BILL: Shut up! I'm being serious!
DOCTOR: Yeah, so was Pete.
Peter Capaldi.... am I just now realizing that he was made into a companion and then killed off within this dialogue? His ultimate fan dreams both fulfilled- to become a Doctor, AND a companion. XD
Pete will be dearly missed
Before people get mad that this wasn't possible before. Remember mavity. I don't think that would have happened either. Somethings going on and it's both Wimey and Timey
@@amelialikesfrogs5778 Mavity who?
That honestly gives 4th doctor vibes
imagine if the 70th is a butterfly effect type episode where every time the companion tries to fix it they end up with a different doctor
Imagine if raining donuts

"I dislike the BBC officially spoiling things."
**I'm clicking the video anyway because of curiosity is very strong**
Relatable.
Idk I feel like RTD seems to be trying hard to avoid leaks and spoilers. One thing I'm coming to appreciate about him is he knows how to hype up Doctor Who without ruining any big moments
Literally me just now. I really didn't think there wouldn't be huge spoilers here though, so I watched it hehe. It's trailers I avoid 100% now.
I was curious how woke it was going to be. Honestly wasn't surprised
@@JacksomLacke Okay, okay, okay... I'm literally done with you, guys :D What the hell was woke with this clip? The dinosaur is too brown for you? The trees are too green? What the hell is going on with this community.
0:46 the subtitles actually say Dok-tah!!! That's hilarious!😂
Inb4 his name was actually Klingon this whole time
That's so funny 😂
No they don’t. Maybe they changed it back?
They also so
@@vitalishus They do for me lol
"If you have made an incorrect accusation I will have to kill you" - I love twitter lol

Do ANY of you know how DIFFICULT it is to find a butterfly that's willing to do stunt work? Then they had to create a special shoe that didn't crush it but instead covered it up inside safely. A hollowed out shoe. The damn thing worked for SCALE for crying out loud, it's the REAL star of the episode!
What even is the lifespan of this kind of butterfly? It must have spent most of its life here in Doctor Who.
seriously they could of just animated it with special effects. Its really not that hard !
Coincidentally - I work in a building where huge beetles start scurrying around at night. If discovered, they run for the closest shade to hide in. Which is usually - under my shoes! What a survival strategy! Fortunately I am not creeped out by them running towards me, and avoid stepping on them.
That is a monarch, which lives for about three weeks most of the time and about nine months if it's of the migratory generation. I'm also rather sure that they didn't exist that far back, but it's hard to make a butterfly effect joke without a butterfly, and the monarch is a very recognizable species...@@sheersternfeld1914
@@voltijuice8576 No this is a different episode. The Beatles episode is later in the season.... :P
Doctor’s inner monologue “Of all the butterflies, that one, that specific one had to be one of the important ones!”
If history were that easily changed, the Doctor would have completely rearranged the entire universe after every adventure.
well, it's what happens. every time the whole entire universe is rearranged. You see, in first timeline, Dalek are pink and quite elegant : "EXTERMINATE, if you may wish, thank you"
Calm your bouncy bust. I am sure this is all part of a story arc.
@@oomusd I think you're underestimating the implied consequences. If history were that easily changed that completely, the Doctor would almost never run into people who remembered his previous visits, because his adventures in other places and times would have changed history so that his previous visits never happened, or at least not the way he remembered them.
I don't think you understand the mavity of the consequences...
@@jameskuyper I think this may be something more central to the full season story plot. I think it DOESN'T happen like this ever and now it is. The "Mavity" bit with Tennant and Tate was our first hint of it. It's only the Doctor who notices the change.
Their chemistry is gonna be fantastic
Especially with remarkable sci-fi drama and comedy like in this preview. 👍🏻
Too bad she will be only in this season, she's leaving the show
@@dashtoroya2838 She will also be in some S2 episodes, but not all.
According to rumors, she had a conflict with RTD like Eccleston (9th Doctor) had in the past. Someone said that "she was hard to work with". It's 2005 all over again ;)
@@dashtoroya2838she’s not leaving nor will she be in just a few episodes as @inquerion8867 suggests. The BBC has said that the Doctor and Ruby will be joined by a new companion in Season 2/Series 15 played by Verada Sethu, they will be a TARDIS trio, RTD has also said Ruby will play a major role.
@@dashtoroya2838 She's not leaving. There's gonna be two companions in season 2 (one of them being Ruby).
So the new Tardis doors have started creaking again. I knew it was only a matter of time until those sound effects for the door hinges returned.
They'll only remember for a few episodes...
Who's to say it isn't the TARDIS herself making the hinges squeak? She apparently likes her current shape enough to keep sabotaging her Chameleon Arch every time it gets fixed...
I cannot explain this. But this has classic who vibes with modern special effects.
Thats the vibes im Getting.
Honestly this does not have classic who humor vibes either. It's something different
It has a perfect blend of what it was and what it wants to be.
@@hothemeep1219 for sure the way scripts are written nowadays are very different. Especially humor, But I mean just the weirdness vibe I’m getting. Classic who had some proper strange choices, and turning ruby into a bird lady right off the bat just feels like a classic who choice for me
It's Russell's classic style @@ham1sh99
I'm now expecting a kirby like plot twist that butterflies are cosmic beings of evil
Kirby and the Doctor save the universe by defeating the butterflies
Russell gave me a non-Human companion and it's a bit that'll probably be reversed in 30 seconds.

@@cunningsmile4166I miss Nardole
Ngl, I wish Rubathon Blue of the 5th hemisphere hatchlings was her own character.

Maybe they'll do that adventure time thing where they keep referencing the same alternate timeline until it actually becomes majorly relevant
Bloody hell! Ruby turned into Clara.
Clara could never be that funny.
I thought Ruby turned into Madame Vastra... no wait, antennae, not a Silurian...
More like Donna.
Wow, hard disagree. I think Jenna Coleman's comedic acting is very underrated. She had great banter with Peter Capaldi.
I'm loving the accent.
Ncuti has got
The childlike wonder of Jodie
The charisma of David
The style of Jon
The quirkiness of Tom
And the joy of Paul
I’m really happy with his casting.
Might see some 12 and 9 in his darkness
I'm so enamoured of him already. Can't wait to see if the writers can live up to his promise. They better not do him dirty like they did poor Jodie!
Or maybe he's his own Doctor.
and the depth of a pancake.
And he's got better Dancing Skills than the 11th Doctor
Well that wasn't a fixed point in time.
My only question is, would the doctor have really picked up the "Rubicon blue" as a companion? Wouldn't that change too?
well at least she didn't got erased from existence
I mean, Ruby Sunday WAS erased from existence. That's what you just saw. From Ruby Sunday's POV existence ended in that moment. It's exactly the same as in the Christmas special when the goblins went back in time and made Ruby disappear in the present by eating her, only this time a replacement lifeform from the new fractured history happened to appear, and similar to Christmas I'm sure the Doctor will do something that restores history and by extension Ruby.

@@HOTD108_ nope, the Doctor will not "fix" history. For now on, In every episode of Doctorr Who humans will be Bee colony #5737-74, every actors being costumed.
They will be : "you are quite peculiar Dok-tah ! are you a weird termite ?" "-no, I'm an alien mammal" "-WHAT ?!!"
Since nobody mentions it, I will.
A direct lift of "A sound of thunder", a story by Ray Bradbury. Dinosaur, butterfly, boot. Had been adapted a couple of time to TV and cinema.

Great story. I think it's at least 45 years since I read it but I've never forgotten it.
@@sabrinatirabassi3529 what's to be forgiven for? I'm not even sure if his was the first take on time travel consequences. Asimov had a short story about time travel experiment with a drone going backwards in time, with the scientist lecturing about it going through physiological changes without being aware that they occurred.
I remember that one! I like that they have it in the story, I remember it changed the language somehow, different spellings?
"One day this is Wyoming." *Pans to present day Wyoming*
Oh no. I just realized the Trickster could male a come back. With all this New Science (we dont use the M word) messing up the Old Science, the chaos will give him strength
Very possible. Davies did mention something about pantheons and anything relating to the Pantheon of Discord would certainly qualify... and the Trickster did voice an intention to turn his eye towards the Doctor at some point, like he did in Turn Left, where his Brigade targeted Donna and used her to remove the Doctor from history. Maybe this Mastero character is another one of the Pantheon of Discord? I mean, it could make sense with the episode we'll see her in.
I love the dark teal shade of this TARDIS.
(And to all confused about why the butterfly effect is being explored when the Doctor has dismissed it in the past, I'm pretty sure there'll be more to it)
No more Timelords to maintain the web of time in the background (some numpty of a Timelord/old friend broke them ;) ). Poor Narvin .
There’s also the point from the 60th special about how the doctor enacted a myth at the edge of the universe so maybe that impacted the myth about stepping on a butterfly
Also 14 and Donna accidentally met Isaac Newtwon and helped him discover the word for gravity 😂
@@AdamAddictL What's gravity?

Yeah. I hope this has something to do with Mavity too.
My thoughts:
A) Most of Doctor Who doesn't go hundreds of millions of years prehistoric - the further back a thing happens, the more ripples it has - and has went out of it's way at multiple points to minimize the impact/interference...unless another time traveller was changing things. And the future of Earth has changed several times due to the Doctor (Long Game)
B) Time Lords and their TARDIS tech stabilized and directed Time in such a way as to avoid Universal decay/fragmentation (and to ensure their dominance and sometimes welfare of allies)... they're gone again.
C) Creatures like the Reapers and Angels fed on and erased time, especially paradoxes...but aren't omnipotent and have lost some of their dominance/threat.
E) As a Time Lord, the Doctor has had some ability to mitigate some of the changes to time...but they also threw salt at the edge...

This got cut off, please continue.
The Doctor simply forgot to turn on the anti butterfly effect button
Ray Bradbury called - he'd like his story back please.
OMG, of all places, Green River, Wyoming! I used to work there! 😂
I love that it’s referenced the Butterfly Effect in such a smart way plus it makes me think of the Shakespeare Episode when Martha talks about Butterflies.
And the fact that the Tenth Doctor never believed.
And Bill in Thin ice haha
And poor Pete.
Erased from existence because Bill didn't look where he was stepping on.
so that's why everyone says never step on a butterfly or they'll take over the world
Something subtle I noticed; her voice echoes slightly as she steps out of the TARDIS because it's echoing back inside.
But the Doctor's void doesn't when he's stepping out.
'Green River' 😄 Love the Ray Bradbury reference 🙂
The butterfly effect. I love it. 😆
Now this makes me want to see this series. More please.
Time traveling from the future. He fixes it by healing the butterfly by blowing on it with regeneration energy!
Rubathon Blue's speaking like a Big Finish supporting character and I'm so here for that! (Meant in a positive way!)
I am IMPOSSIBLY excited!!!
So reality changed for Ruby making her into an alien who remembers being an alien but the doctor still remembers her being a human Ruby. Interesting. Still a Lord of Time.
So far their interactions remind me of the fourth doctor and his companions. Like 4 I think we will see a happy go lucky Doctor having fun like a school kid at recess until he becomes serious and deadly in seconds.
Just wait until he faces the Daleks. Then we'll see how serious and deadly he can be.

Exactly what I was thinking since we see him holding the butterfly in a shot from the trailer
If the butterfly dying caused temporal changes without any paradoxes, then wouldn't just walking around in the past on any patch of ground or interaction with any form of matter do the same thing?
Why extend this beyond scientific principles just to produce a comedic scene.

I kind of like the design of the alien species Ruby turned into on account of the butterfly effect.
it's like she's some kind of lizard bird hummanoid creature, like maybe a dino evolution like that had on this episode of Star Trek Voyager. And maybe mixed in with some kind of upper class high society background.
this a was neat bit in that episode.
I….ahhh….I’m so torn on this. Because it’s an _hilarious_ joke….but this type of thing has always been dismissed in the past, and raising it now will not only contradict the times the butterfly effect _hasn’t_ happened, but also make it weirdly inconsistent when it _doesn’t_ happen in the future. I really do hope there’s a good, sensible and _easy_ explanation out of this that’ll let us just enjoy the joke for what it is. It _definitely_ shouldn’t be some big plot point. Just let it be a joke.
rtd2 in a nutshell
In all fairness, time as a plot element in Doctor Who has been kinda wishy-washy. I think the soft nature of the rules around time in the show (that also just so happen to give us a large variety of time travel-based shenanigans rather than a strict adherence to a specific kind) mean that most anything can happen anyway. I think as long as it's fun and doesn't detract from the main plot of the episode or the seasonal arc, then it fits just fine.
maybe it turns out that the Butterfly Effect has always been in play on the show, but the Doctor's just constantly crossing their own timeline quietly in order to undo the effects and it sorta cancels out. Well, except for Pete, I guess
Considering the number of times the series contradict itself in the last 60 years, it's not really a big deal honestly
just enjoy it and do not think so much about it. overthinking is the death of every fandom. especially doctor who which retconned itself multiple times. :D
I actually really really like Ncuti as the Doctor!! I read on Reddit that a lot of people dont think he’d be good as the Doctor but I quite like his direct and kind of educational yet almost sassy way of speaking in this!
