There were actually two ships that were nightclubs at different times. The Tuxedo Princess was there first, before being moved to Glasgow and being replaced by the Tuxedo Royale. The Tuxedo Princess was later brought back, and the Tuxedo Royale moved to Middlesbrough.
Shouldn’t take this out of context. The quayside was not as it is today and this was a scheme to try to improve, and hide, a dilapidated and unsightly area. In theory, there’s nothing wrong with the idea (unless you’re attached to old buildings) and it would still be a feasible concept today. I propose it is reinvigorated….but over the central motorway!!

Never knew about this until now !! Interesting
You should do a series on the planned motorways around Newcastle. There were so many plans and things that were half built
2:17 'Bumper Roof' way back when it was merely known as 'White Fence Roof'. How times have changed.
The Quayside was the place to go out when i was young. 😀

That should be Ryder and Yates (not Raider).
Interesting video and ASMR. It's a two-for-one 😀
What residents? Suppose it would mean the non swinging bridge will have a reason for being buggered nowadays.
Rider and Yates. There's a story........
Typical 60’s architectural ideas…..unfortunately there’s still some horrible concrete buildings in the ‘Toon.
