This song (and this version specifically) gets you so hype like it's the Floyd Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight bout to go down, some big ol' school era prime Tyson fight bout to go down, or Apollo Creed vs. Rocky or Apollo Creed vs. Ivan Drago. Epic. Like you're in the center of the boxing / glamour universe for that second with all the celebs in the crowd waiting.

You know, the Street Fighter 2 OST was probably the soundtrack that got me into VGM in the first place. I must only have been about 6 or so, but I remember my father bringing back a CD free with a magazine with this on it. I recorded a tape off it and listened to it all the damn time. It would always calm me down when I was distressed, lol. Of course FF7 sealed the deal (and Star Ocean 2 signed it in triplicate), but listening to some of the Street Fighter tracks again now I'm surprised by how good they are. A lot of them are very catchy, at least; even in the later titles (T. Hawk, Rose, Rolento, and C. Jack from EX come to mind).
Fun fact for some folks who may not know, the music for Street Fighter 2 was done by the same person who did Kingdom Hearts series, Front Mission, Parasite Eve, Legend of Mana, among many others - Yoko Shimomura, a true legend in VGM who is now at work on Final Fantasy XV.
SGTBizarro Yeah, I recently read up about that actually, and saw a couple of interviews with her. She also apparently did Tobal No. 1 and Super Mario RPG which made me do a double-take. It's funny how there are some composers who have a very distinctive style even to the point of sounding repetitive (Sakuraba is probably the best example I can think of - and perhaps a less contentious one in Sakimoto) but others sound very, very different. Quality shines always through, though.
How I learned that ki attacks were overrated... 10 times! I lost at least $5 to this asswipe back in the arcades because his charges came without warning!
These cansiones were you feeling that filled the street figther play !!!!! One of the most memorable filled me with tears just hearing the song a good memory of my childhood years greetings from mexico fans of street figther

I'm a Balrog main and I can agree how dangerous it is to fight with no kicks in a game when characters can jump across the arena and throw projectiles. Hands only with close range attacks only. You gotta be very careful in when to throw them punches or not, given that you leave yourself open wide for counter-attacks. I love this character and his cartoony greedy personality.
Pretty much identical sound because the arcades at the time including SF2 used the YM2151. The Sega Genesis uses the YM2612, a somewhat stripped version of it.
BIGGIEDEVIL Far superior is an overstatement. There's barely much differences. Now before you go on to push the Mega Drive hate agenda (which I know is something you would do because I've seen you in a gazillion comment sections doing such), let me explain the very minor differences FM wise. The arcade's YM2151 only has two more sound channels and extra detune over the YM2612, but the YM2612 has the ability of SSG-EG. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Hell, someone did a music edit SFII CE on Mega Drive to use the arcade instruments and it sounds very similar to the arcade game. ruclips.net/video/hLyVmgXEiac/видео.html
Gender Neutral Chibi Thing It's the BASS that was shit on the SNES version, the Megadrive/Genesis bass was far superior. Also Super SF2 was a big improvement on the SNES.
ojideagu I actually thought a lot of already existing tunes fared even worse in SSF2, because they had to be compressed to fit. Capcom's incompetence shows, just look at SSF2 Genesis. The music was HORRIBLE, and the game was fucking 40 Megabits! Most games were lucky to get past 25, 40 is huge, so the game should at least have something redeeming, right? Even with the extra size, there's still some missing animations (like Guile's idle movements). And the SNES music sounds like they just took the arcade music and compressed it to fit, it sounds horribly whiny because of it.
Gender Neutral Chibi Thing You can definitely feel the compression on Guiles SSF2 theme on Snes, but I still think the drums are good. (Many commercial tracks today have drums compressed to death, just listen to any modern metal) That's not the same as Data compression but produces a similar sound! But yes the melodies on SNES are often whiny and tinny. But Fei Longs theme is better than the arcade IMO I too don't understand why the Genesis version was so terrible, and quiet!!
ojideagu I thought Fei-Long's was one of the better ones on the Genesis, but that's not saying much. The SNES version is pretty good, but I wouldn't say it surpasses the arcade. Do yourself a favor and listen to the CPS1/Sharp X68000 version, in my opinion that's the best.
part of the charm of ww and ce is the music, one of the reasons I don't like super and super turbo is because they changed how the music sounds. this is how the real sf2 music should sound.
+kainthevampireduck thats because super street fighter got newer sound hardware. CPS1 was very similar to genesis hardware and CPS2 pretty much had enhanced snes sound hardware.

@ComeOnGaming Balrog didn't starting announcing his turn punch until Hyper Fighting. I agree he wasn't lame - just harder to win with. Short and low jumps to avoid fireballs were his main weakness.
