- Wheal Jenkin began operating in 1824, starting with shallow shafts and adits. The works expanded in the 1830s with the introduction of a steam powered pump before closing in 1837 due to low tin yields.
In 1872 the mine opened again with Whim Shaft, later named Bellingham shaft in 1881, but had closed in 1890 after failing to make any significant profit.
