One of the main factors that comes to mind for me is that after all the efforts, money and time that has gone into the conservation of the big southern forests, the government wants to throw in the towel. Now that the forests are maturing, and becoming what they once were, the likelihood for remaining birds in these areas to not only survive, but to actually multiply into sustainable populations. It is my opinion there was never a more critical time to protect the bird, but mostly the habitats where they are likely to be. Big mature hardwoods that are extensive such as the Pearl River, Atchafalaya Swamp, Big Woods of Arkansas, and even places such as where the Alabama River and Tombigbee run through in southern Alabama, the Pascagoula WMA in Mississippi, and other areas such as the Apalachicola Natl. Forest in Florida east of Panama City. Then there are those out of the way places that are overlooked where it may very well exist. Lets keep these areas in tact for not only the bird, but also for future generations to enjoy. The time is now folks!

I'm waiting for the day that a wildlife conservationists and US Fish & Wildlife announce that for a long time they've found Ivorybills, and have been keeping it secret for the sake of preservation; but now they've bred enough to deem it safe to tell everyone. I pray it will happen.
100% that’s the Lord God bird. It’s still out there, forever wary of the humans that sold out its beauty for the sewing machine. Fly high Lord God bird, may we meet your children among the trees one day, when we learn to respect your home.
I appreciate what your saying about the help from hunters, as long as they know not to shoot any they may happen to come across while in the woods .... Hopefully y'all remind them of that once in awhile.
@@isaaccapp2241 It was in a woodlot next to a lake at Johnny Henderson Park close to Enterprise, Alabama. Enterprise is not far from the Choctawhatchee River. It was in August of 2018 when I heard and saw it. I recognized its call from the audio before I saw where it was. I wish I had a camera to take its picture.

I was convinced when they backed up and saw the bird on the tree. It looks convincing that its a woodpecker, and the color pattern is compelling
