Check out my site for the full (and very loooong) list of items I used to make this happen: fpawesome.com/2022/11/18/ikea...
Enter BESTAmus PRIME: This is my ridiculously over-engineered Ikea hack to turn Ikea Besta cabinets into a transforming, hidden, flip-down style murphy desk solution that...
- is super minimal and only sticks out less than 10" from wall when closed
- also moves up and down to use as a stand-up desk
- has programmable memory positions for desk height
- plugs into a laptop with only a single USB-C cable that hooks it up to two monitors, a keyboard and mouse AND charges the laptop so you can keep the laptop adapter elsewhere
- has accessible power outlets/USB charging
- can host sick dance parties (thanks to individually addressable LED light strips)
- plays Hedwig's Theme (from Harry Potter) when moving up or down to memory positions, because why not?
And I installed it on a stair landing... it's not code compliant, but we love it! Just have to make sure not to use a chair that can roll...
Split into 3 parts because there's a TON of different steps along the way and it felt like it might be overkill for one video (this "project" was more like multiple projects combined into one).

amzn.to/3DWfvmW - 1 1/4" Pocket-screws (recommended size for 3/4" thick material)

This bloke is probably 50 percent engineer
Maybe in spirit haha
Love the channel name 😃
Thanks 😁. I've embraced my averageness.
Brilliant! Can the desk support your weight if you lean to draw?
It can, but if planning to lean on it for extended periods, I would reinforce the dropdown hinge or redistribute the load even further. My wife has been using the desk without issue for over a year now, but I'll need to make some adjustments/improvements, including a reinforcement--she got one of those behemoth Stanley 40 oz tumblers that makes me a bit uneasy lol.
@@fp_awesome thanks!
