I’m remembering that I really love the freedom of just paying out of pocket vs trying to maximizing the value of the dining plan. You get what you want instead of stuffing yourself to max the value. And that it was harder to get reservations under Disney Dining plan.
We just got back and we decided to buy gift cards for food and souvenirs. It worked out so well for our trip. It made it almost all inclusive. I think that is how I will do Disney from now on instead of the dining plan
I love the dining plan. It does feel all inclusive. I was more stressed and canceling table service meals because I was nervous about not having enough money by the end of my trip! 😂
I wish you could buy the dinning credit for just a few people rather than the whole group. My family has both adventurous eaters but a lot of us just have mac and cheese 😂
I’m not sure whether this saves any money over the Disney Dining Plan, I guess it depends on where and how much you plan to eat, but it’s something I have done every year since 2020 and it’s something I will continue to do. I like the idea of prepaying for our food at Disney so I buy a prepaid credit card, and load the money I would have spent on the Disney dining plan (if I bought one), and then just use the prepaid card for all of our food. Since the only advantage you get by buying a dining plan is the fact that your food is prepaid (the food isn’t actually cheaper just because you buy a dining plan) I just “prepay” for our food this way. I have actually found that we save money this way. I get why people get sucked in. Disney works it so that when you get there it feels like you are getting free food because you aren’t actually using a credit card or cash to pay for it but sometimes you end up paying more than you would if you didn’t have the dining plan.
I made the same suggestion before I read your post. Yes, I think this is the reasonable way to do it. It has the advantage that you can choose to spend that money any way you want. For example, if you get tired one day and decide to head for the hotel early, you can still use the card to grab a meal somewhere outside the park if you want, or you can keep it to pig out the next day. Or if you see a souvenir you really want, you can decide if you're willing to skip a snack to get it. If you go home having spent everything on the cards, hey, it still helped keep you from overspending. If you go home with some money left on each card, that can feel almost like free money, even though it's just yours to begin with!
Here in the UK, when I looked at how much the dining plan costs in pounds, I realised it was actually a lot less than how much spending money I took with me on this year's trip. So for that reason, and that alone, I chose to add it to next year's trip because not only did I save myself money, but also added convenience by not having to worry about how much I'm going to need for meals. Combine that with my thousand dollars Disney dining credit and my $200 Disney gift card, I'm not really going to need a huge amount of money out of my own pocket next year's trip
The updated thumbnail font looks great! Keep up the good work! I’ve learned everything about the parks from this channel and I can’t wait to see yall break a million subs.
As they said in the video, the dinning plan is more for convenience rather than saving money. Also if you get the expensive dinning plan that may even be less convenient if u don’t want to eat a big meal
I agree. My daughter and I like to share appetizers which aren't even included in the plan. We would end up wasting a ton of food as we don't like to eat large meals, we prefer to taste a lot of different foods, maybe split a dessert with Champagne.
Here's an idea. Find out what the amount of the Disney Dining Planning is and put that amount on a pre paid debit card or cards. Whatever you don't spend on food stays in the card and can be used for other things rather than losing it with the Dining Plan.
Could you make an additional video on just the quick service dining plan and how to utilise it the best? This video seemed to focus on the standard one 😊
After reviewing the current menus, the DDP just isn't worth the expense anymore. I loved the convenience of having everything prepaid but after doing some math, we will be paying out of pocket next visit. The cost has gone up & the menus have changed so now it's a lot less expensive for our family to pay as we dine.
We are also - many trips in the DDP + but now with double points for some restaurants and us being vegetarian- we will lose AJ’s book sealed the deal for us when we compared what we will eat and the cost …if Disney hadn’t started 2 credits for one meal …
We are doing the dining plan for our 2024 trip. I look forward to being able to choose what i want. Plus w the price hikes I feel like ive locked in todays prices for meals a year from now
If the dining plan doesn't save you money, it seems more stressful to plan most meals just to get your money's worth. I think I'd rather just pay as I go and just buy whatever catches my eye and whenever I'm actually hungry.
I will attest that mobile ordering lunch at 9am is a great idea and definitely schedule just before it after the prime times. We had a 6pm at Tiana's, it took 1 hour. My wife walked in ordered food and we finished eating before my mobile order was ready.
We originally purchased the ddp for our January trip but after going through our plans for where to eat, realized that it wasn’t going to cover a large number of places we wanted to eat. We would be paying a premium for the plan, but still paying extra out of pocket for many places.
I always look at it as vacation, end of story. I do not look at if I am getting my money etc. I like having it paid in advance just for ease. My father in law always made sure to order the most expensive item to get his money etc. I just like enjoying myself, if you have to fret over every expense etc.. you are missing the fun. Disney should be looked at as an experience and I love the experience, I build in extra, so I enjoy myself..value for dollar etc is not my primary concern.. you cannot take your cash with you when you go.
It sounds as if maybe a better choice for some people is to decide on your food budget at an amount lower than the dining plan but high enough to feel like you're on vacation, and buy a prepaid Visa or MasterCard for each day. As long as there's money on the card, you can keep eating. When the card's empty, you're done for the day.
If there were still a chance at getting reimbursed for the meal plan (so eating for free) through AAA, I’d probably take the risk and go that route. But since thats unlikely to return, we’ll be paying out of pocket. No dining plan available when we went last year and the 2 of us at for about 800 over 7 days. So a little more than the dining plan, but we had at least 2 meals that would’ve double sit down charges and literally ate whenever we wanted, never being hungry on our trip. Just gotta know where the values are and be an adventurous eater!!
I have a picky eater that’s a teen and of course, adult prices. Sometimes he wants a kids meal or even 2 kids meals. That’s not happening if you have the DDP. Doesn’t work for us.
I use gift cards - just scored $400 (2 $200 cards) for $360 at Sam's this morning. Allows me to budget my trip because food prices have gotten out of control. I also take my own snacks and a water bottle.
The only good thing about Dining Plan is that it means that they might bring back the Free Dining Plan (which was the only reason to ever have the dining plan).
Its not even convenient. Its not like you can walk into the restaurant, order food, swipe your band, and walk out. You still have to leave a tip, which means the server has to bring you your bill, you have to figure out the tip and then give them your card to run the tip and then wait for them to bring back your card. Pretty much the same as any restaurant. No upside at all to the Dining Plan except for corporate Disney - they will make millions.
Bringing back the Dining plan is a brilliant move on Disney's part. The company gets to earn way more off of food while appearing to benefit the customer.
Question! I am going to Disney World in Fall 2024 so I was wondering if I should wait for a new edition of the dining plan and not so scary halloween guides next spring or summer?
Those will have the most up to date info for the seasonal books. If you purchase when the 2024 editions go on pre-sale you’ll get the previous years copy to check out while we’re putting the final touches on the most current edition! And the dining guide 2024 edition should be out in January once we confirm a few final things; we send out post publish updates on the guides as well if anything changes
If all you eat is pizza hotdogs chicken nuggets. Then No this is not for you. If your foodies and adventurers then you will love it. Don’t eat lamb or steak when on vacation. This is not for you. If your in a hurry and don’t have time to eat. Thus is not for you
Are you serious DFB..just going to a sit down restaurant is going to blow 52.00 out of the water!! I mean the DDP does make sense ! I saved all my receipts and at the end of the trip it was well over a the price of DDP!
I have never understood why anyone would get these plans. They’re ridiculously expensive, usually provide waaay too much food, and you have to get them for everyone in your party and for every day of your trip regardless of when you arrive and leave.
I would love to do dinning plan but we have a 11 and 13 year who are really fussy so its not worth it as they will only eat childrens meals but would have to pay for them as adults on dining plan 😢
I just don’t see it as good value. There is no guarantee on what I am going to want to eat and where I wanna eat. I’d rather just pay out of pocket as some day I may spend more but other days less.
I think it's a good opportunity for a big family, but when it comes to a small family and picky eaters, I don't think it is worth purchasing this plan.
The Dining Plan really depends on your outlook and your family's needs. If you're foodies then it can absolutely work for you and might even work out to be a bit of a savings. If you like the "convenience " of having a more "inclusive " feel during your vacation then it's great. But if you're a family who eats the chicken, pasta or other lesser value items regularly then it is Not for you as the Dining Plan is Not about saving you $$. Especially, if it's going to make you anxious or feel like you have to order the steak and lobster even if you'd rather have the chicken to get your "value". It is a lot of food too so if you don't eat a lot then it's also not for you. I would suggest pulling up some menus from Disney restaurants you're interested in and getting an idea of what you and your family are likely to order then crunching the numbers to see what would work best for you.
I don’t know if I’m just a super planner and researcher. But anytime I see people say it’s more expensive I’m always super confused. We’re going pre dining plan re release and what I budgeted based of what we’re going vs if I dining plan was available for our trip next month. It ends up being just about the same. And it being paid for in advance would definitely elevate stress I wouldn’t have to be checking and recalculating money daily
Friends. The DDP is a rip off. Always. Period. AJ knows it, even though she will not outright say it. She does not want to anger subscribers and viewers who use it. But she knows. That is why there is the final segment of this video KINDA warning you about it. Only 2 reasons to buy it (supposedly) 1. Myth - you will use EVERY credit and buy the MOST expensive thing at every restaurant and snack location and possibly break even or save $10. Reality - You WILL NOT. It is impossible 99.9% of the time. Someone will get ill, you will want to do something else and not make a res, or someone in your family will just not be able to pull it off. You will be scrambling on the last day of your trip going into a gift shop or snack location and grabbing 20 credits worth of $2 Rice Crispy Treats or $2 Cokes to stuff in your luggage to take home just to not lose the credits. And keep in mind - snack credits need to be used on $6 - $7 items to BREAK EVEN. 2. Myth - "I just like having everything prepaid when I go and not have to hassle with paying when I dine and getting sticker shock when my credit card bill.". Reality - the is the absolute DUMBEST thing I have ever heard. You have the DDP, they bring you a bill and you scan your Magic Band and pay, then wait for the receipt and put on a tip. You don't buy the DDP and just have your credit card linked to the Magic Band, and they bring you a bill and you scan your magic band and pay, then wait for the receipt and put on a tip. So there is NOTHING convenient about it at all. As for sticker shock when you get your cc statement - are you insane? If you have the ability to make monthly payments to Disney to get the DDP paid for BEFORE your trip.... then you have the ability to put up those payments in a bank account, coffee can, under your mattress.. whatever. Then a couple of weeks before you leave - stick the sum onto your credit card and you will just be using that on your trip. Or wait till you get home, get the cc statement and pay it then with the money saved. It is the SAME thing!! How do people not see this? Bottom line - You will have a MUCH better feeling at the end of your trip when you only dined when you wanted and on what you wanted and you did not stuff yourself or buy things you did not want. And you only paid for what you wanted. Disney does very little that is for the benefit of the guest. VERY little. And if this service lost money, they would not be bringing it back. They make millions off this plan every year because breaking even is impossible. And that is fact. Good luck!
There's currently some conflicting information on the Disney World website. In some locations it says it is included, in others it says it is not. Previously, it has always been covered with the DDP, but requires 2 Table Service credits. We'll be confirming a LOT of things once the plan starts back up in January.
It is a big decision!! 30+years ago we used the DDP + for dining - 3 meals a day - and it covered dinner shows etc . ( we came out ahead - 😂 I added up the receipts a couple of times from trips ) Was worth it as the parks were so different and we usually went just before the Christmas rush and the parks were empty ! Even last time just my daughter and I went we used the DDP + and we’re vegetarian- we came out even ! As we had a bunch of snacks left over and bought them for a family that was feeling the $$ crunch . Going in February for 8 days and the cost for 2 vegetarians is cheaper in cash than the DDP . Thank you AJ and team for the DDP booklet - it helped us decide ! The DDP is great if you cannot decide what you want to do about your eating plan ! And if you are a meat / seafood eater you maybe can actually come out a bit ahead … Again Watch AJ and team - get the DDP and it will definitely help you decide 💜🐾🎃👻
disney world needs to lower their prices in order to make lots of money because everything is priced way to crazy high no one can afford that disney has always stay affordable so that poor kids can have the magic of walt disney world the poor kids never had this kind of fun they would really injoy it
I don’t stuff myself with the dining plan. I love that since my dining is prepaid it’s done. I can order whatever I feel like, not just what’s cheapest. I do think it was a better value with the alcoholic beverages and full table service.
Well - there is always a price for convenience. But the Dining Plan is not even convenient.
This is way too complicated. I'd be so stressed that its not worth it. I dont mean to sound high and mighty, but we can afford whatever we want and wouldn't need this plan anyway
Free dining is an incentive. Spending WAY more on the dining plan than you would if you bought your food on your own just for “convenience” is just idiocy
I’m remembering that I really love the freedom of just paying out of pocket vs trying to maximizing the value of the dining plan. You get what you want instead of stuffing yourself to max the value. And that it was harder to get reservations under Disney Dining plan.
I miss Tables Of Wonderland the most! 😭
Have a great Thursday, y’all!
We just got back and we decided to buy gift cards for food and souvenirs. It worked out so well for our trip. It made it almost all inclusive. I think that is how I will do Disney from now on instead of the dining plan

I'm in the same boat, we're off in May, and because of the extra credit we chose the quick service and we'll book the sit down meals as and when
I am enjoying working my way through all of the dining plan videos. I am so hyped for my trip in November.
The updated thumbnail font looks great! Keep up the good work! I’ve learned everything about the parks from this channel and I can’t wait to see yall break a million subs.
Totally understand that - the stress of costs is gone

There is nothing budget related to this other than knowing you overpaid for the illusion of convenience.
After reviewing the current menus, the DDP just isn't worth the expense anymore. I loved the convenience of having everything prepaid but after doing some math, we will be paying out of pocket next visit. The cost has gone up & the menus have changed so now it's a lot less expensive for our family to pay as we dine.
Yup and you can bring snacks you like to the park while walking and if you watch something just buy it.
We are also - many trips in the DDP + but now with double points for some restaurants and us being vegetarian- we will lose AJ’s book sealed the deal for us when we compared what we will eat and the cost …if Disney hadn’t started 2 credits for one meal …
Your videos bring me such joy! A little dramatic, I know. But I really appreciate everything you guys do. Just wanted you to know.
We are doing the dining plan for our 2024 trip. I look forward to being able to choose what i want. Plus w the price hikes I feel like ive locked in todays prices for meals a year from now

Thanks! Always very helpful with the tips and info! Very much appreciated!
I just pack snacks to the park and then we go eat dinner after or eat back at the resort/ rooms if we are hungry.
I think the fact that alcoholic drinks are included for adults definitely helps make the plan worth it
I think it’s a deal when they offer it as a special bonus to book a vacation package, but I don’t think I’d pay for it.
I will attest that mobile ordering lunch at 9am is a great idea and definitely schedule just before it after the prime times. We had a 6pm at Tiana's, it took 1 hour. My wife walked in ordered food and we finished eating before my mobile order was ready.
Thank goodness it’s coming back.
I just eat the free ketchup and mustard packets .
We originally purchased the ddp for our January trip but after going through our plans for where to eat, realized that it wasn’t going to cover a large number of places we wanted to eat. We would be paying a premium for the plan, but still paying extra out of pocket for many places.
Pet Peeve -- there is no "sh" sound in "Akershus". "hus" means "house" in some northern European languages, so it's "Akers-hus".
I always look at it as vacation, end of story. I do not look at if I am getting my money etc. I like having it paid in advance just for ease. My father in law always made sure to order the most expensive item to get his money etc. I just like enjoying myself, if you have to fret over every expense etc.. you are missing the fun. Honestly, I just can’t see how it would be worth it for most people. It seems more stressful for me and most of the time more expensive
We've been watching from the very beginning
If there were still a chance at getting reimbursed for the meal plan (so eating for free) through AAA, I’d probably take the risk and go that route. Really hope they bring back the big plan with 3 whatever meals.
I have missed the dining plan. Made things easier. We love to eat at the sit down places
I use gift cards - just scored $400 (2 $200 cards) for $360 at Sam's this morning. Allows me to budget my trip because food prices have gotten out of control. I also take my own snacks and a water bottle.
I am not sure if I missed it but how much are the different plans?
Hey, you are me and my girlfriend’s favorite Disney RUclips channel ❤❤❤ we watch u all the time
We are going to Disney in one week. It’s exciting. We have never used the ddp. We prefer to get the hotel discount.
The only good thing about Dining Plan is that it means that they might bring back the Free Dining Plan (which was the only reason to ever have the dining plan).
"There is no free lunch". The Dining Plan was never free. Other costs were raised to cover the price of the food.
Cheaper to just buy your meals as you go. Its a big premium price for a convenience.
Its not even convenient. Its not like you can walk into the restaurant, order food, swipe your band, and walk out. You still have to leave a tip, which means the server has to bring you your bill, you have to figure out the tip and then give them your card to run the tip and then wait for them to bring back your card. For the love of god… just figure out your own plan for dining.. 😂😂😂

I just don’t see it as good value. There is no guarantee on what I am going to want to eat and where I wanna eat. I’d rather just pay out of pocket as some day I may spend more but other days less.
I know the dining plan is supposed to alleviate stress, but it actually seems like it would be more stressful for our family.
Yes especially if your not big eaters and you feel pressured to make the most out of the dinning plan!
Do your own planning and save lots of money. Share meals, appetizers and desserts.
I think it's a good opportunity for a big family, but when it comes to a small family and picky eaters, I don't think it is worth purchasing this plan.
To me just buy gift cards if you don’t want to worry about overspending or using your cc for dining and save $$ because the dining plan is a rip off
The Dining Plan really depends on your outlook and your family's needs. If you're foodies then it can absolutely work for you and might even work out to be a bit of a savings. The restaurant which has Pluto and a glass wall (around 5:40) ~ what is it?? Looks so interesting! I don't think I've seen it before
Garden Grill - Epcot. It circles the Land ride. It’s also one of the better meals for both character interaction and food. Served family style.
Thank you so much! @@Sunflower00987

It use to be worth it this is way to high now its 93 a person a day
Man im so tired of how confusing disney is. The fact that we need a channel like this for Disney but not universal speaks volumes
Lounges use table service credits, that's a waste.

Good luck!
Yours sincerely. A poor guy who didn’t know how to use their plan 🤣🤣🤣
That is the truth...DDP just isn't a good deal anymore
is hoop de doo covered with the DDP ?
There's currently some conflicting information on the Disney World website. In some locations it says it is included, in others it says it is not. Previously, it has always been covered with the DDP, but requires 2 Table Service credits. We'll be confirming a LOT of things once the plan starts back up in January.
It is a big decision!! 30+years ago we used the DDP + for dining - 3 meals a day - and it covered dinner shows etc . ( we came out ahead - 😂 I added up the receipts a couple of times from trips )
Was worth it as the parks were so different and we usually went just before the Christmas rush and the parks were empty !
And if you are a meat / seafood eater you maybe can actually come out a bit ahead …
Again Watch AJ and team - get the DDP and it will definitely help you decide 💜🐾🎃👻
disney world needs to lower their prices in order to make lots of money because everything is priced way to crazy high no one can afford that disney has always stay affordable so that poor kids can have the magic of walt disney world the poor kids never had this kind of fun they would really injoy it
I love your info but wish you would slow down just a bit
Just one a day
I don’t stuff myself with the dining plan. I love that since my dining is prepaid it’s done. I can order whatever I feel like, not just what’s cheapest. I do think it was a better value with the alcoholic beverages and full table service.
Bring back free dining plan for uk
I'd love a "xx veg meals at Disney that aren't the cobb salad."
It's a shame that "easier" = less financially sound/more out of pocket... looking at you ILL, Genie+, DDP, etc...
Well - there is always a price for convenience. But the Dining Plan is not even convenient.
DDP work well if you need special dietary options? No up charge or the like?
This is way too complicated. I'd be so stressed that its not worth it. I dont mean to sound high and mighty, but we can afford whatever we want and wouldn't need this plan anyway
WAY too complicated and inconvenient. The fact that everyone in the group has to have the dining plan is a joke.
Disney needs the crowds. They need that money
But disney need to be able to acomodate the crowds well since is so expensive
Free dining is an incentive. Spending WAY more on the dining plan than you would if you bought your food on your own just for “convenience” is just idiocy
I personally don't get the love for the dining plan. You basically have to order the most expensive item on every single menu just to break even.
Lol u act like it's been gone for 10 years
It always bemuses me that in the Disney universe children become adults at age 10.
Dining plan is come to Disney and gain 10-15 pounds in 7 days. Unless your eating steaks and salads for the entire 7 days it’s not worth it
Unless you are rich, don’t do it.
Its a BIG mess!
1st!!
It's too much food for us. We've just returned after a two week holiday and had one quick service and a couple of snacks each day.
Same for us. I’ve lost 33 pounds since April and I can’t eat large amounts of food anymore. Plus I have a picky eater teenager.
@@elainehill5931 That's a great weight loss. Well done 😁
They priced the package to a unreachable level for regular working familys so greedy it is sad n even worse the food at the ONCE good
Places is BAD
