I got the CP2 midsize grips on my new irons and love them. The best thing about there grumpiness is that when you hit a bad shot and go to throw the club it sticks to your hand that little longer, which results in the club landing just short of the lake. Money savers I say.
I just love golf banter. No matter what course, continent, or group of guys, the trash talking is always the best part of the round! The beer is pretty damn good too. haha
Mark, been saying this to you for 2 yrs now, Mid-Sized Plus 4 grips are money. I changed to them 2 years ago when you started your 10-finger videos, and it absolutely gives better control of the club and the feeling of being able to apply more force into the club - and I also switched from overlap to 10-finger all at the same time.
Did the same - changed to mid sized plus 4 grips and no longer hook my long iron (larger grips stop my hands turning over). Also love the extra support you get on the right hand - feels so much lighter in the hand. Probably one of the best investments i have made to my setup! Great video @Mark Crossfield
Gripwise - Golf Pride Z Cord (logo up) One layer of Tape. Will be moving to Golf Pride full cord (logo up) with two layers of tape after a recent fitting. Enjoyed the softer feel on the full cord and extra wrap helps take the hands out of things a little. Like the idea of maybe going for a third wrap under the right hand.
The best course was probably Mossy Oak Golf Club in terms of layout, architecture, and overall condition. The favorite course however, is Snow Mountain in Las Vegas. Amazing combination of architecture, condition, and setting.
I use ChampKey oversize +1 from top to bottom with +2 at the middle to bottom. Cheap and amazing texture grips. Oddly enough, I have gotten more control since switching.
Ive used standard all the way to Jumbomaxx. From what ive found....the Winn Dri Tac Oversize is hands down the best grip. Its as big as you could actually want it without throwing off swing weight. Winn is the only manufacturer who makes a big grip at a normal weight.
i redid my grips earlier this year with Midsize Tour Velvet plus 4. LOVE them. no more hand fatigue, easier to get into my fingers and not my palms, and the random skull shot doesn't hurt terribly much. But I do wear large gloves so my hands are slightly larger than average
LOL… The first two holes of golf remind me of my own golf some days. Pinehurst No. 4 looks so amazing…wow😮😮😮… I’m a CP2 mid with a couple layers of tape guy. I could go jumbo too… They just feel great…
I just went to midsize cp2. Really helps with my wrist pain. Also switched to graphite in irons which helps a lot as well. 100% do both if you have any wrist/hand/elbow/shoulder pain. Big grips and graphite allow me to actually play golf pain free.
I have Golfpride CPX Midsize which are soft and kinder to my old hands, 2 best courses...... The Glenmarie in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Championship Connemara Links in Galway, Ireland. Both totally different but both awesome. Cheers from Germany to you both.
I always think thick grips feel great but as a player that uses the hands to control the club head and generate speed, I'm pretty useless playing them. Honestly think hitting the same club with different grips should be part of a fitting process, rather than just ok these are the clubs what grip do you like the feel of.
I agree with you. I love the feel of oversize grips, especially on driver and woods, but they leave my lead hand open and I end up with an ugly slice every time. For me a good in between is standard mcc+4 which still reduces hand fatigue but keeps my lead hand closed with plenty of control.
Royal Dornoch, just beautiful. Grips, Golf Pride CP2 Pro standard, 2 extra wraps so feels a little thicker than normal. Would be fun to try some bigger grips, although I do not have big hands
what a start to a video. A putt to nowhere and then a Coach Lockey van chasing half shank! love the grip experiment with tape idea. I'm taking mcc new decade or z cord every time though. mcc new decades are the perfect cord/mix grip for me. its hard to experiment with tape thickness when grips are 12-15 dollars each though.. lol
Just recently changed from standard size to midsize z cord on my irons and love them. I'm gonna change my woods next. Interesting idea about going jumbo on wedges for chipping to get the putter sensation. I might have to have an experiment with that.
I've tried standard, midsize, jumbo. The whole lot on more than one occasion. Love the feel of the thicker grips in the hand to genrally swing about... But I can't get a consistent strike with them...I'm not sure if its the change in "swingweight" from the extra grip weight, causing counterbalance and loosing the clubhead feel. So I've gone back to standard.
Used Golf Pride CP2 Pros for several years but switched to Lamkin Sonars in the spring. Definitely larger, especially since they are "standard" size. Texture makes them quite grippy, but if you are swinging badly they will sandpaper your skin a bit. Been using Super Stroke putter grips for a while but got tired of the slick feel of the polymer material and am trying Golf Pride Tour Snsr Red in 104cc. Seems to give a bit more feedback on how the putter head meets the ball.
My go to grip is far and away the Lamkin Sonar+ Standard. As I understand it the + means it doesn’t taper for the lower hand. I love the “fingerprint” technology that lets you get a firm grip without it being tacky. That said, I do have a second set of irons and several woods with the Golf Pride New Decade MCC grips. While not as comfortable as the Lamkins (IMO) I can still play a round comfortably with them. If I hadn’t tried the Lamkins I would have stayed with the MCCs.
I play the v-55 cord with 2 full wraps and at least 2 more under the right hand. It gives a larger grip in your right hand and is still a "thin" grip, rubber-wise. It's firmer than an actual midsized grip
Not played in the US. But best courses; Loch Lomond; Turnberry (Pre-Trump); Monte Rey & West Cliffs (Portugal)….also a fan of Princes and Royal Porthcawl.
I put Jumbo grip X small lite on my woods. But didn't like them on my irons, so I tried golf pride +4 with extra tape on the lower hand. Finally settled on DRI TECH Less Taper for all my irons.
I use the Z cord logo down on all clubs aside from putter. 4 - PW standard wrap, gap wedge has an extra wrap on the bottom half, sand wedge has two wraps, and lob wedge has two wraps and an extra wrap on the bottom half. I regroup my own clubs and just started messing around with extra tape until I found what I liked the most.
Ohhhhhhhhh No ! Bloody Grip Sizes/Tape !!!! You just HAD to do that didn't You !! Just when I FINALLY had My head going on a single coherent path..... BINGO ! Can of worms again, LOL. So, THANKS a bunch !!!! Have to be brutally honest, Your Vlogs are SOOOOOO much darker and (even) more entertaining when the Golf goes west.
Just started the video, but I’m interested in the align grips and I believe the jumbo cp2s. My hope with either is that they’ll help feel the club face angle a little better. Funny it’s something I’ve just started looking into and you’ve made a video on it 🔮
I Play the MCC Plus 4 Align Mid's and Tour Velvet Plus 4 Align mids on my woods and the standards with 1 extra wrap on my irons. Then just the basic MCC Plus 4 on my wedges with a extra wrap.
No question, Pebble Beach is the best course I've played. Hard to not get mesmerized by the views. Took a caddie and walked. Easily the most enjoyable round of golf I've played. Grips - Currently standard MCC in my irons/hybrid/fairways, MCC+ in my driver.
Best course played is Cape Wickham on King Island Australia - just 🙏 for a light wind day. Try the Grip Master Roo on the driver It’s been a game changer for me
I use the grip master roo leather oversize grips for about 12 months. Great in any conditions. Don't use a glove any more. Love them, will never use any other grips. Absolutely love them
Heard great things about these. I would love to use them, just too pricey for me at the moment. How are they in terms of wear? Do you need to do anything different than normal grips to keep them clean?
Had them for just over 12 months, still tacky as. As far as cleaning, wipe down with damp cloth. That's it. They are pricey but I won't use any other grip again. Love them
Ive been playing the mid-size mcc plus 4's and they have been an awesome feeling grip. In saying it would be great to feel how the standard mcc with 2 wraps or 3 wraps feels compared and what difference it makes.
I Play the MCC Plus 4 Align Mid's and Tour Velvet Plus 4 Align mids on my woods and the standards with 1 extra wrap on my irons. Then just the basic MCC Plus 4 on my wedges with a extra wrap.
I play Royal Grips Sand Wrap standard with one extra wrap under the right hand. Don't use a glove and have always used cord grips but these are the grippiest I've ever played.
I tried CP2 pro midsize a few years ago and took them off after a handful of rounds because I struggled to release the club. Maybe I just needed more time.
After a bunch of messing around with grips, I now play a mid-size grip with 3 layers of tape at the bottom for less taper. I'd been using Golf Pride MCC+4 and CPx grips, but recently switched to Lamkin UTx grips. They have the corded feel but are softer and tackier than the MCC grips. The CPx grips are a bit too squishy and the texturing is annoying at times.
Just ordered the plus 4 standard and plus 4 midsize. 3 of each. Going to put on different clubs see how they compare. Driver for the midsize. Wedges maybe standard. Also have smallish hands. Interested to see any changes.
@@MarkCrossfield played first round with changed driver and three wood. Double taped as well just to make sure it felt different. Feels weird. Pushed it way more than normal. Used to have a neutral grip but went stronger a while ago following your speed ideas. Feels hard to get strong grip with fatter grips. Gonna persevere.
No. I switched back. Probably didn’t give it enough time but felt so wrong. Felt like it was keeping my wrists too stiff I need a bit of flex there to help with speed as I’m slowing down with age
I got fit for the new Titleist stuff last week. I've played MCC +4 grips as long as I can remember and had to hit Tour velvets on the demo shafts. Was 5 mph slower swing speed with them as they felt so weird and foreign to me.
Best course I have played, World Woods in Florida. rumor has it that it was sold and will no longer be affordable to the common man. I play the MCC midsize on all my Clubs. works well and are tapered for choking up on the Club.
PGA West Stadium Course. And I work in club repair and regrip clubs all the time. Grips matter, but much like shaft flex, etc its a small part of a larger equation.
Changed my own grips for the first time, using the GP Tour Wrap 2g black, standard size. I live in Michigan, love the tackiness of them. And also, some of them didn't exactly go on straight .. good thing I don't use the label for club alignment in my sent up! Wait .. maybe i should, and have someone else regrip them for next season! HAHA
The next time you come to Pinehurst you have to go to the Sly Fox pub in Southern Pines; and while you're at it, drop me a line and I'll buy you a pint! Keep up the good work with the content
I'm flabbergasted at how grips are ignored. As Mr Crossfield showed in his recent driver tests, there is no real difference in current models. Ditto irons. Grips can't improve a club, but they can help you get the most out of them. My normal shot is a draw, my miss is a hook and the shot that makes me want to give up golf is a pull hook. The problem isn't swing path, it is a closed face at impact. Caused by my strong grip. Again, Mr Crossfield did a video explaining this. Were I a tad more dedicated, I'd rebuild my grip from the ground up. But I'm 61 and no longer in the improvement phase. Instead I'm in the cling on to single digit phase. A couple of years or so ago I read a review of the Golfpride Align grips. The theory made sense so I gave them a try in my irons. The improvement was dramatic and immediate. Way more than 'upgrading' to different irons. The more neutral grip felt odd, but the left miss disappeared. I could aim at greens. I shot my first ever even par round. Got to my lowest handicap. My form has reverted since those heady days, but it is because I have ignored the Align nudges and gone back to my evil ways. I need bigger Align lines. Similarly with the driver. I've been trying heads and shafts recently and basically there is no real difference. The exception was a shaft that was fitted with an Align grip. I had the same launch and spin numbers as every other shaft, but it was obviously and consitently more right biased. I've been fitted numerous times since about 2016 and my numbers haven't changed a jot (albeit I'm lucky enough to have a very efficient swing). But the right grip, leading to a better setup, is the only thing that has made a real difference. I still flirt with new clubs, but I always regrip them.
Lamkin Crossline Black, standard with two layers of full size buildup plus one more for the lower hand and of course 2 inch double sided tape,, or Royal classic V, a cheaper alternative, best looking for me are Lamkin 360 Genesis crosslines cord the one for Talor made with a red but cap, really like longer or stretching grips an extra inch to 11.5, so if I could ever find them the 1150 Lamkin crossline grips....no logo which I like anyways,, how about those leather Grip Master ,,,,can't justify $ 25-35 plus per grip but they are sure nice. Always liked the Golf Pride Victory grips.. the black and aqua colored things with the swing rite pattern.
Kooyonga, South Australia was punishing for me (Nett 100 in a juniour competition!). Royal Adelaide is a challenging, stunning layout, with bonus train line. Grips are something I am still exploring. What is perfect for me? Not sure. I did buy a driver and 3 wood second hand last year with thick grips. It took a while to adjust my swing in order to get my hands through the ball wnough to restore a draw to my standard shot shape.
I love #4 there. Holes 3 and 4 are my scorecard wreckers - Coach has it right about being the hardest little 131 yard hole. I play MMC Plus 4 standard with 2 wraps of tape, except for my wedges which are Tour Velvet 360. Even though I don’t use the align version of the MMC it still does my head in to open up the face of my wedges with them so that is why I change grips for my wedges. My MMCs have the logo down and are the orange and grey combo (hard to find - please make more!). I wear a medium large glove for reference.
I have slightly longer fingers so standard with 1 wrap hurt my fingers/arms from awkwardly gripping too hard, actually gave me trigger finger in my lead pinky from my forearms being too tight. So I definitely prefer midsize lol. With midsize I can do swing practice for 4 hours and the only thing NOT sore are my arms.
I use Star Grip Sidewinder in Midsize with 2 extra half wraps on the lower half to take the taper out a bit. Bright orange so I don't leave my wedges on the green and drive off. 😂
I got the CP2 midsize grips on my new irons and love them. The best thing about there grumpiness is that when you hit a bad shot and go to throw the club it sticks to your hand that little longer, which results in the club landing just short of the lake. Money savers I say.
you have to make better turn and always throw it forward
Love these two. Could watch them all day.
I just love golf banter. No matter what course, continent, or group of guys, the trash talking is always the best part of the round! The beer is pretty damn good too. haha
Love the banter.
I'm regripping my clubs this winter. Can't wait to experiment with some of this.

4:55 'This could make him look very silly' for the best nasty Coach giggle ever! Loving it. Instant Karma at 5:35.
Have been using the Jumbomax ultralight large grips since the start of the year. I don’t have overly large hands and have really enjoyed them.
Gripwise - Golf Pride Z Cord (logo up) One layer of Tape. Will be moving to Golf Pride full cord (logo up) with two layers of tape after a recent fitting. I just played Pinehurst #2 & #4 and The Cradle with Srixon's JTB event. It was awesome! Also I use the Golf Pride MCC Align grips.
Tour Align Velvet, standard, one wrap. I don't wear a glove. Love them.
Olympia Fields near chicago.. 3 glorious days... well done.. still need that muppet tour stop in central texas area!

I have been using the CP2 wrap oversize which has helped eliminate a hook and produces a power fade of the tee.

I was having trouble with my hands and standard grips - my hands would hurt.
I switch to SuperStroke oversized tour traxion grips and love them!

Midsize Tour Velvet for me. Had the Tour Wrap years ago, they are dreadful when wet.

I just bought GolfPride CPx grips in midsize. Haven't installed them yet. Hopefully in the next few days.
I have whatever grips came on my irons a decade ago when I bought the set off the shelf... Probably time for a fit and to try some grips.
Not played in the US. But best courses; Loch Lomond; Turnberry (Pre-Trump); Monte Rey & West Cliffs (Portugal)….also a fan of Princes and Royal Porthcawl.

Switched to the CP2 grips. Love them especially in the wedges.
Golf pride tour velvet, midsized seem to be great for me. The thicker grip fits large hands well.
Shadowcreek is probably the best course I've played in the US though I did love Paiute GC.
Great video...Pure Pro Midsize (gray) with 4 wraps on the lower hand for less taper.
I've never seen a more relatable first 2 holes.

Those greens are pure
Tobacco Road which is near Pinehurst in Sanford.
What’s with the color of balls switch?
JumboMax Ultralight...36 grams...how much difference do you make when you use heavier or lighter grips in relation to the balance point of the club???
Nicest course played Elephant Rocks in Williams Arizona. I don’t feel so bad with my game after watching this. 😂
Les Bordes! Amazing place!
I’ve got the Golf Pride mcc standard with two pieces of tape, next time I think I’ll go mid size one tape 🤷♂️
I use Star Grip Sidewinder in Midsize with 2 extra half wraps on the lower half to take the taper out a bit. Bright orange so I don't leave my wedges on the green and drive off. 😂
Coach needs to pull up his socks. 😂 ⛳️🏌🏽♂️
what's the length of your hand Mark? how many wraps of tape do you have in your grips? Thank you.
