I regularly top dress my plants with some used coffee grounds because I make a pot of coffee every morning and in the case of my bottom watered plants, like my African Violets, I just add about a tbsp of the left over coffee to the spring water I use! If you aren't sure how much liquid coffee then it's just enough to make the water a very light brown. They love it! But I only do this about every 3rd time I water. My calatheas, anthuriums, christmas cacti and draceanas grow big and happy! Plus it's organic so it's a win-win! Love your tip on banana peels and egg shells. Will be trying that soon! Thanks so much for your wonderful videos. I thoroughly enjoy everything and simply love your accent!! Plant hugs from Canada!! ❤
Hey Princess love your content! The fish tank method works great but works even better if you use the water after you use a gravel suction when you clean your tank! Keep up the great content
Is it ok to mix different fertilisers in one pot at the same time? For example banana peel water with green tea and potato water, etc? Or is it better to do everything separately?
I’m a new plant mama and came across your channel while looking for simple, easy to understand information on philodendrons… I’ve looked through many, if your vids, but wanted to comment on this one in particular… These are simple, natural, and free fertilizer solutions you can make at home! Thank you for being here and sharing your experience
This is so helpful!! I usually use Liquid Dirt and Super Thrive but I’m going to try your tips as well! I have a few questions. How long can I save the water (I’d take the banana skin out after a few days) before it would go bad? Also, could I combine the banana water with the coffee grinds and the water and egg shell mixture? If so, how long could I keep that? What I’m picturing is to do each on various days of the week, combine it all in one large container and then water on a future day that’s convenient, saving any leftover water for the next round of plants that need watering. I hope that makes sense. Thank you in advance and thank you for sharing this! 💜💚🪴
Hiya - I've used Liqui-dirt in the past too and it's great! If you keep the banana water in the fridge it'll usually be fine for a week or two, but as I say you can also freeze anything you make up and just defrost it as and when you need to. I tend to make fertilisers in batch and then freeze any I don't use. And yes it's totally fine to make your own combos together - it definitely makes life easier 😂🌿 x
Thanks Ana, really glad you enjoyed it. There's a few more I was going to talk about in this video and didn't get around to, so I'll definitely make more like this soon x
I love using banana peels egg shells and coffee, after I've drank all my coffee I will fill the pot back up and twirl it getting all the left over coffee out of the pot and watering my plants with it. It very diluted and looks like a very weak tea.
I have an outdoor houseplant that is in terrible shape. Is it best to do several of these things and mix the water together? Or will doing one of these at a time still work..?
What fantastic ideas! Now if I can keep these darn fungas gnats under control this coming winter.. I am in Canada and last year was unbelievable with gnats.. I have never had any infestations until last year..
Great video. If we use one of these fertilizers, should we not use even diluted fertilizers like Gold Leaf? Other products like Super Thrive, Rapid Start? Thanks!
Can we used turtles red ear sliders dirty water? I keep them inside the home not in a pond, they are babies still. I’m about to change the water and wonder if safe to do so? Thanks.
I drink green tea using the tea bags in hot water; after making the tea, can I use the contents in mixing in with my potting soil? Or should I simply sprinkle the contents over my potted plants? Thanks
It's been shown that all those hacks don't work 😉 the egg shell would take years to be usable by the plants I think 😉 Banana peal and coffee don't work eather, according to my experience I love your videos though, i like your dynamism 👍
You definitely have to crush the eggshell down to a powder, but if nothing else it helps with additional drainage! I'd have to disagree about the banana water though - it's perked up soooo many of my unhappy plants over the years 💚
@@TheJungleHaven I haven't tried banana peel before (or yet) but as for coffee, my sister's Pothos started to look like it was given steroids, the leaves grew SO large and healthy looking. She didn't water it, but would give it leftover coffee when she had it (it was weaker coffee and she had leftovers often) and sometimes coffee grounds. That was it. So at least for some plants the coffee REALLY does something good, too!
Love this, helping us reuse and recycle kitchen waste to make fertilizer is fantastic!
Thank you! 💚

Thank you! I totally agree - I sometimes squeeze out the filters into my plants water too. They love it!

Detest Miracle Grow products. Thank you! Also appreciate supporting a womon creator!
Somehow it amuses me to know that plants enjoy cold brew. 😅

No you can absolutely mix it in with the soil 💚
Nov 3, 1:00 central time here in Texas 😊
Which DIY fertilizer do you suggest for string of pearls?
hi or this helps plat to bloom ?
Making sure your plants have a good balance of nutrients always helps to encourage them to produce fruit/flowers if they're capable of it, yes 💚
