I am listening to this for the first time... I have paused it at exactly 27 seconds... I absolutely love this song already... Just putting that out there... x
Same here. They sound virtually interchangeable for all that guitar-driven stuff that blew up in the noughties, though granted they sound better than the many worst examples, but it doesn't make them wow at all.
Saw these in Leeds last year and they were fantastic !! So under rated it's criminal ! Got tickets to see them supporting Weller in December!! They've been recording their new album at Wellers studio over the summer so hopefully they'll be showcasing some new songs at the gigs !!! These guys should be bigger than Kasabian !!!!
A load of things should be bigger than whatever Kasabian means. But most of that is from the 80s, not from the shit decade musical dead zones that followed the 80s!
seriously people, stop whining about artists ripping off other artists. Do you think that music is made in a vacuum? NO. everyone is influenced by their predecessors and contemporaries. Furthermore, that goes for all artists, beyond musicians...be happy for The Rifles--they took a sound and made it theirs...
awsome song from an awsome band....you can understand the lyrics...the tune...takes you back to music and bands of late 70s early 80s....mod/ska....AWSOME...and robin hood is a legend too....lol, (soccer am viewers will understand)
music's been around so long now it's near impossible not to be compared!!! the guys do their own music to a similar sound but do it well!! mon the rifles!!!
first came across these guys on soccer am 7 years ago. incredible band seen them live 10 times since, was no surprise really tim lovejoy has such good taste in music. top guy!! love his style I wonder what Tim Lovejoy is doing right now...
The Rifles are the real shit...and if a genius like Paul Weller approve of them, what right we simple mortals have of saying anything on the contrary?!. Now, shut up, spark that joint and listen to the sweet sounds of...THE RIFLES! Gracias por la musica, homies...keep on keeping on!!!
Tuuuune. Good to see REAL music is still about and not this x-factor nonsense!! Next big english indie band are THE BLUE COLLARS, have a listen if you havent already heard, top top band.
these are an amazin band i dunno why they aint big yet, but i like it that way i can shown all ma m8s an amazin band they aint herd of thesse should b up there with the best them guitar riffls are amazin and as said amazing lyrics aswelll (y)
Saw em Last night in Elephant and Castle... Fucking Incredible... You don't have to know the songs to enjoy them.. My tickets were only like 15 quid, they were insanely good
Great example of a GREAT song thats much better than so much of the other stuff out there.. But doesnt make it like it should...HOW is it that im just aware of this in 2019?
@SlipknotFerret You do realise a lot of artists and bands have at one point used The Beatles material. If you listen to Oasis' Whatever compared to The Beatles' Octopus's Garden they are extremely similar. In fact there is a video on youtube where Oasis sing Whatever and it changes into Octopus's Garden halfway through
Nice interpretation of the The Jam sound... so what if they sound like Weller's band? The style is perpetuated that way. BTW, I lived in Spain and there are quite a few bands there rescuing the early-80s-mod-meets-punk sound.
where can i get their first album for a reasonable price. In the US it is like $25 on amazon, are there any online stores where i can get it for less. I checked HMV, they don't have it. I need this!
Still such a tune from the heady days of 05/06. What a couple of Summers I had with these boys soundtracking them. Go on my sons.
Just throwing a comment so this classic always comes back around
I am listening to this for the first time... I have paused it at exactly 27 seconds... I absolutely love this song already... Just putting that out there... x
Saw them three times live, listened hundred times to their CDs - to me it`s still a surprise why they don`t have more success !!
Same here. They sound virtually interchangeable for all that guitar-driven stuff that blew up in the noughties, though granted they sound better than the many worst examples, but it doesn't make them wow at all.
I could listen to this song over and over again.
So eine geile Band!!! Gestern im Astraclub in Berlin das 2. Mal live gesehen und: Absolute Extraklasse!!!
Saw them open for Paul Weller at the Highline/NYC - they were great, tons of fun live. Perfect choice as an opener for Mr. Paul Weller.
love that line 'line them up and puts them down'... Paully x
How long have I been waiting for a band like this?
Damn, they're good.
Nice to see good music likes this still exists.
I live opposite that pub - in Camden. It's just reopened - sweetness.
well done soccer am, i would never have heard of them ever. cheers tim lovejoy

This track never ever ever gets old.
awsome song from an awsome band....you can understand the lyrics...the tune...takes you back to music and bands of late 70s early 80s....mod/ska....AWSOME...and robin hood is a legend too....lol, (soccer am viewers will understand)

music's been around so long now it's near impossible not to be compared!!! the guys do their own music to a similar sound but do it well!! mon the rifles!!!

ive heard loads of people compare the Rifles to some great bands... but no one ever seems to compare them to the Jam. Anyhow top band!
Should be the Remembrance Day theme song. Cheers from Canada always there for Britain from the get go.
this reminds me of The Cure a lot, but its very cool. I like it.

@sharuto spot on!!
GREAT SONG
ROCKNESS !!
Getting a Jam feeling. BTW, are they named after the Jam song "Eton Rifles"?
2006 was such a wikid year.
@tasteofcoda
This song was originally by The Rifles
It's not 'ripping off' bands, it's just being influenced by them
where can i get their first album for a reasonable price. In the US it is like $25 on amazon, are there any online stores where i can get it for less. I checked HMV, they don't have it. I need this!
