      It's actually a blessing. More snow more water, more cold water better salmon/steelhead returns and hopefully in a couple years after the generation from 2023/2024 matures we can have a season again with 2 fish daily bag limits

    Big snowstorms are not unusual for the Sierra nevada,cascades and numerous mountain ranges throughout the west coast. Abundant moist air from the ocean forced up by orographic lift combined with cold enough air. Also too many people calling every single rain event in California an "atmospheric river" getting kind of annoying. An A.R. is a elongated and often horizontally positioned storm of a tropical nature with very high snow levels and warmer air. A storm barreling down from the gulf of Alaska is not a goddamn atmospheric river

      @NWW116  4 месяца назад +2

      Get over yourself. YES it IS an atmospheric river. We’re here to keep you informed no need to get angry lol and yes it’s a constant battering of precipitation for more than 2+ days making it very dangerous. Regardless, no matter what you wanna call it these updates are very informative and important to keep you safe and up to date.

      @@NWW116 no its not an atmospheric river. Heavy pounding of snow yes it is and the strongest of the season but not some out of this world freak event. An AR is tropical and is horizontal not comma shaped. I grew up in California and the word was used appropriately and sparingly. Just the past couple years every storm gets labeled as an AR and overhyped.

      @@bssaassin1900 have you taken met courses before? I’d highly recommend it before you come at me thinking you know what it is. I have studied meteorology for 8+ years and taken classes on the subject. The definition of an atmospheric river is “ relatively long, narrow regions in the atmosphere that transport most of the water vapor outside of the tropics.” This event is long lasting and several days long continuously bombarding the region with water vapor which condenses over the mountians. This DOES make it an atmospheric river.

      @@NWW116 ok so maybe you do have a point I'll give you that I'll admit to some extent I was wrong Its just that I hear it thrown around all the time and I was taught that AR is warm and tropical and nicknamed pineapple express. Ive seen normal cold storms that last for a few hours get labeled as an AR just cause it brought an inch to Sacramento and a foot of snow in the Sierra so I was quick to jump on the gun to make a point. I apologize if I came across as an asshole. I also do want to mention that I've seen events that they thought was gonna bring 3-5" of rain to the valley just for it ring itself out over the coastal mountains and give the valley less than half an inch. Not saying that's gonna be the case here but that in general things in nature dont always go as forecasted
