      Joel Vinsant - That’s an astute observation on your part. Reminds me of Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot:
      *”Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”*

      I still haven't slept Oh no it gives me depression that people are so ignorant... so you are saying that we have no real photos of the earth? What about the time we went to the moon, they took hundreds of pictures of the earth. And what about the satelites orbiting the earth, they have taken hundreds of pictures aswell...

    To the reader: Please remember that for every one uncouth or stupid comment, there are likely 100 people who appreciated the beautiful production from NASA without submitting anything. Any other perception causes risk of being too cynical of humanity, and that's something we should collectively work on avoiding, for the sake of us all. Love live humanity, and may we prosper in a healthy relationship with the rock we must share.
    Edit: To clarify my use of the word stupid, consider the difference between the comments asking politely genuine questions about the final render (such as the lack of apparent stars, which NASA has explained), and the comments that simply declare with a false authority that the video is "fake". The latter category of comments may or may not cite any arguments, and are the group I am calling stupid.

      At first, I thought that the satellite was rocking in its orbital position up and down about the Lagrange point, I was stunned when I realized it was the seasons and that the satellite essentially had a one year orbit about the earth while orbiting the sun. The pattern the clouds make is also amazing, at times you can see a repeated cycle of cloud patterns both expanding/contracting and moving up or down in a spiral around the earth, while being spirals themselves.
      I'm so happy a video like this exists and is just able to be seen by anyone with an internet connection.

      ***** How do you figure? Science is just some made up fantasy to somehow benefit the evil government? Loosen your tin foil hat, and get a life mate. It may be true of some things, but science *isn't* one of them.
      NASA is doing the best they can, with what they're given, to achieve the goal of discovering more about the universe around us. What are you doing? Questioning everything, and producing nothing. I have 0 respect for people like you.

    • @coreydoyle4702
      @coreydoyle4702 8 лет назад +1

      ***** Scientific ignorance is no more excuse for stupidity, than ignorance of the law is excuse for breaking it. Just accept there are people in the world who know more about different subjects than you.
      What you're doing is not questioning, you're rejecting. For no other reason than to fit your own narrative of how the world works. Go back to your "skeptic" forums so you can circle jerk each others ego's.

    • @coreydoyle4702
      @coreydoyle4702 8 лет назад +1

      ***** You give skeptics a bad name.
      We should believe it because they have a satellite there, that can, has, and does, take pictures. Pictures you can view here: epic.gsfc.nasa.gov/
      There is no way for me to explain to you how nonsensical what you're saying is. You don't by any chance follow Alex Jones do you? You sound like one of his drones. Ironically, I doubt you've done an ounce of real, objective research into your beliefs in your life. Can you even math? Lack of education would definitely explain your disdain towards those who are.
      Anyways, I digress. My point is that logic, and rationality, doesn't exist in your world. You're either mentally ill, or you're so deluded by select materials, that you've taken residence into this little fantasy. Either way, I'd be wasting massive time sitting here and researching legitimate scientific citations for you, and every other ignorant shill I encounter on the net. Only for you to not even be capable of understanding it.
      That being said, I'm no longer replying. So please leave your reply short, as a final word. I don't want to feel obliged to respond.

      +John Abel What I see with these videos is how much, but yet how little humans have explored of space. All of the universe as we know can be beutifully described with complex mathematics, which is fascinating to me. What you see however is what you belive is faked, since the birth of mathematics, physics and astronomy, something that has been and is constantly developing for centuries ago and centuries to come. What I find awesome about this timelapse is that you can see that the Antarctica is exposed to the sun during winter with the Arctic pointing away ( for example minute 1:20) and in summer it's exactly the opposite with the Arctic being exposed to the sun (Phenomena of Midnight Sun) and the Antarctica is not in the image cause pointing away from the sun ( for example minute 2:17 in April).

      Why? Because the video says this is how it is? I don't give a rat's ass what the OP said. There should be stars, and satellites, and a freaking moon. Think about it. Just go to the moon and take a picture of Earth with a P900 camera. The most powerful *consumer* camera there is. We can take pictures of details of craters on the moon, but we cannot just go there and take one of Earth with the same detail? Come on. NASA says we 'lost' the technology to be able to go back to the moon and are trying to rediscover it. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

    • @kenlogsdon7095
      @kenlogsdon7095 6 лет назад +49

      Randy Colby - *"There should be stars"*
      Nope. Camera exposure is set to make out details of the Earth in full sunlight. Stars are too dim to see with that exposure. Try taking pictures of the stars with your P900 with a brightly lit object in the foreground and see what you get.
      *"and satellites"*
      Nope. The largest satellite is the ISS which is around 300 feet wide versus the distance of the DSCOVR at a million miles away. Can you see something the size of a football field just 1000 miles away? How about 100? How about 10?
      *"and a freaking moon."*
      And they tell you in the freaking FAQ: *"...the moon shots were edited out for aesthetic purposes."*
      But by all means, Randy, keep straining at those FE gnats while gleefully swallowing entire herds of camels.

    It truly is an amazing video if you watch the entire run. The first thing I noticed in the rapid spinning is that you can see the continents slowly shifting upward as the Earth tilts over the seasonal months, relative to its orbital plane. Yhis is due of course to the very slow gradual change of its 23 1/2 degree tilt relative to its position on the orbital plane, and also relative to the sunlight striking it at the angle of incidence which lights it, to show this gradual shift. That may sound a little confusing but if you watch the video, you see this actually happening slowly...

      I lost way too many brain cells researching Flat Earther theories.
      To date, nobody has given me an answer to this question. Maybe you can.
      If the Earth is flat, why are there two celestial poles? Stars seen from the north revolve around a point in the sky near the North Star, and stars seen from the South, revolve in the opposite direction around a southern point in the sky. How is this possible on a flat Earth?
      Can your theory predict the position of Jupiter in the sky 20 years from now? Why is it that heliocentrism which is so dead wrong is able to predict the future position of planets and future eclipses so accurately. Can the flat Earth model predict these things?

      +Djobo Kuwali but see you've been lied to. Because we've never been to space. Just ask nasa and they will tell you we cannot go past the Van Allen belt. Which is a barrier between our atmosphere and everything in "space". So yeah, we've never gone to the moon and nasa accidentally admitted it multiple times.

      I know we've never gone to the moon...this doesn't meant the earth is flat or that we're not being lied to. But this widespread skepticism then hits it's maximum potentiality by going so far as to assert the earth itself isn't round. This says a lot about our increasingly agitated society, by proposing the one thing that is, in itself, difficult to prove to people who've only relied on authorities to inform them on the reality of our condition.

      @Diaz Saiko Ok seeing as you're one of _those_ people, here's a few questions for you:
      1) What does the government gain by hiding the real shape of the earth, how would that change anybody's lives?
      2) Let's say the earth is flat for a second, Australia disproves that basically instantly. If the earth was flat, the closer you get to Antarctica, the more stretched out pieces of land will be, much like maps which use the Mercator projection. Australia would be 8,000 miles long, how would you explain that?
      3) I haven't actually seen anyone provide proof, they just kind of call people stupid and then never reply, could you provide some proof for the earth being round?
      4) (this one isn't a question but more of just me replying to what you said) The earth was discovered to be round 4000 years ago, with only two poles. They placed two poles at different places and managed to estimate the size of the earth to a pretty accurate degree considering what they were using.
      5) If the earth is flat, what is keeping everything on the ground, because gravity can't be doing it
      6) If you dig down, how long would it take before you dig through the flat earth, because it seems like nobody can agree on a specific number.
      7) Antarctica would be the edge of the flat earth, so if you just sat on top of a really tall building, wouldn't you be able to see it.
      8) If the earth is flat, explain why boats seem to go lower and lower as they go away from you, and wouldn't you be able to see continents on the other side of the ocean?
      9) (again, not really a question) You said the earth was a 'magical spinning ball' but couldn't I just say the flat earth is just a magical spinning disc?

      No, it was not. The trajectory of the moon is tilted 5° to the ecliptic. So it runs just from time to time in front of EPIC and its limited field of view (FOV) and not every month. TheMrSirCharles cited it in a previous comment. It will passes above or below the FOV of EPIC. Even at the solar eclipse at 1:50 the moon is above the FOV what you can clearly seen at the position of the shadow in the upper part of the globe.

      ian smith I really find it ridiculous. Both you and the FE party.... Thinking you could know things that are beyond us.... Why don't y'all drop this and worry about your lives? Scientism is garbage.... And human ego personified. There are things we just can't know. The shape of the earth is one. Nasa has cgi... But no fe has shown a picture of the dome either. Both of you are ego centered trying to chase clouds. (spoiler :you can't catch a cloud no matter how hard ye try). So why not just worry about your lives? Crazy these times...

      Btw... You know that science has branches? What does computer science have to do with origins of the world type of science? EvedYahu it honestly astounds me that for over 2000 (recorded) years humans have been intelligent enough to know the shape of their home. Maps centuries old show they understood this, you live in a time where some basic self experimentation can prove it to you, yet here you are claiming everyone is a liar, cherry picking parts of science and blindly ignoring reality. I feel for you, although, I suppose it's a blessing stupid people rarely know they're stupid. Have a great life.

      So your saying you did a detailed comparison of each image and saw the same clouds? I'm not buying it. I've seen the clouds change in image sequences like this, and including this one. This cloud thing is from space fakers who are apparently too stupid to realize this is such an elementary mistake that NASA would not make it. Someone within NASA would know what to expect of cloud motions over time and act accordingly. Do a frame by frame comparison and then post it if your so confident in what you claim to have seen.
