The wavy line of the cap band was the first thing that caught my attention about this pen. I thought there was only one version when I put in my order for a Twilight with a stub nib. I’m happy with the quality of the rest of the pen, including the ink window.
I agree about the missed opportunity with the clip. I have always thought a Tusk clip would finish of the pen perfectly and I have 5 of them!
A bit outside of my price range at the moment, but those are nice looking pens. Nahvalur is one of those companies that I'd like to own a pen by eventually--their stuff always looks really cool to me.
My bank account really would appreciate Nahvalur slowing down on the tempting pen releases. Another lovely review, David!
Indeed, that's my thought too - the threads at the end of section are good only in case of Franklin-Christoph pens, in case of other pens it is a problem.
I know, I am in the fanclub of F-C pens, can't help it.
Nice Pen, thanks for the review.
Interesting that the grip section looks exactly like the one from the Italian manufacturer Gioia. The models Gioia Alleria and the Gioia Bellavista. The rest of the body looks very different though.
i mixed some inks, namely diamine pumpkin, parker quink black, diamine magestic blue, pelikan turquoise and pelikan blue black and have made exact same ink as the taccia that you showed. It too looks blue but then dries off to green with a very similar shade.
This is definitely not a pen for me, but I just wanted to say (again?) that I appreciate your fountain pen reviews so much! They are thorough, slightly opinionated but still give an amazing overview of all the features. If I need to find out more about a specific pen, I check out your channel first. Thank you!
I like the looks of the pen, but I like the ink even more, very cool!
I’m really enjoying my 2024 Horizon in Desert! Super easy to fill. Curious though. I can’t find anywhere that tells the volume of ink it takes for a full fill. Any idea?
Very good looking pen series … I agree that the wave band is sharp. Probably should be a signature component along with your tusk clip suggestion! 🐬
Woderful looking pen! I have been looking for a green pen but too many are rather monotone. Looks like my wish list just got bigger! Thanks for the review.
I have 8 Nahvalur pens, including 5 of the Nautilus version. I think the pens are well made (not so the first version that broken easily) but I have had to replace the nib on all of them because they don't have an option for a XF nib. And the Fine nibs are closer to a Medium. Well I have thought about purchasing additional models I'm just tired of having to replace the nib every time.
As usual a great review.
Totally agree with you david...a nahvalur clip could set them miles apart from other manufacturers and can even secure them a 'permanent' position in the pen world with some die hard fans who would want to buy all their models. .
Subimidori is also one of my favorite inks.
Yes, tusk shaped clip, please!
Spiral tusk clip is a great idea, but im not sure the brand designers even know that narwal tusks look like.
Really though, any clip would look better than the Benchmade dickclip lookalike. At least it doesn't have veins on it like the one on the Anthem does, small victories and all that...
I like the design of the pen. The stuff clip acts more like a roll stop than anything else.
I wonder if there is enough room in the cap to swap a #6 size nib onto the pen.
Lovely resin and I like the wave design of the cap band. Going to their logo instead of their name is a plus.
Great review, David.
These do have #6 nibs in them
@@penrealm8345 I think the description was a #5.5 nib.
I just measured them to be absolutely certain. They are 35 mm with a 6 mm tail, same as a Jowo #6
Narwhal: you know the assignment.
I find their nibs kinda boring, and on all my Narwhals I've nib-swapped for flex nibs.
So I was wondering if the Horizon's nib swaps with #6 nibs or #5 nibs, or if they've a custom size that doesn't swap with anyone else (like Sailor)?
Curious why or how it got labeled a 5.5 nib? The nibs physically measure 35 mm long with a 6 mm tail. The same dimensions as a Jowo #6 or Bock 250 which is also commonly referred to as a #6.
That's not an official label...just my own. It seemed slightly smaller than a couple #6 nibs I compared it to. Not a lot, though. An excuse to bring up TG's name.
@Figboot on Pens the nibs do sit just a tad deeper in the housing, so that may contribute to them seeming smaller.
I think you forgot the uncapped comparison, or did I miss it?
Am I the only one who sees a smiling granny face in the thumbnail?
Boxes don't matter. They add cost and waste. If the pen doesn't feel special because of its box, then maybe the purchaser is focused on the wrong thing.
