My husband is Caucasian and I'm a black woman. His family was very upset when he introduced me. This was ten years ago. And I can still feel the humiliation. A very painful time in both of our lives. What shocked me was the hatred they had towards me, simply because of my skin. We barely knew each other. We never spoke before. But once they saw a black woman, they shut me down. My husband spoke to them many times, but after ten years, he no longer speaks to his family. So much damage was done, coming at a cost of our peace. Sadly, since we stop talking to them, we found so much peace in our marriage. It was difficult decision for us, but his family wasn't willing to change their prejudice and racist ways. No one should have to suffer in this kind of treatment. Every human should be treated fair.🙏🏿♥️

Wow. Sorry to hear that you experienced that. Yes it is very sad. I just continue to pray for change. It’s so sad to see people get caught up on differences and pour out hate because of it. I am glad to have come across such an experience for now I have an Asian boyfriend and wants to introduce me soon to his family and part of his family are racist and always felt they will never accept me but after reading your experience I have hope for we love each other and we happy and feel if family would not accept me I will have to turn a blind eye and live life

The first thing folks in the US really have to break out of is the concept of "race." It's a socially constructed concept that reinforces racism and a racist mindset. Until Americans stop speaking and thinking in terms of lines that separate different kinds of people, rather than in terms of a gradation of skin tones on a spectrum and overlapping aspects of identity, you won't get there.

I've been with my wife for 21years and coming from a country we neva saw black people or any other races it was a bit of shock for my family in Albania but no way anyone was disrespectful to my wife and they welcomed her with open arms. No way that I will alow anyone disrespecting my wife. 🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱no matter what colour it is. But my people loved her. 🇦🇱🇦🇱
@Chumnley snoop absolutely true. It means they want there child to be happy. And as mother myself that's the main thing for me, is my son going to be happy with the person he chose to be with, because I can rest in peace knowing that he's been loved and safe.
The history of America especially the south created deep divisions.
There was a need for many whites to distance themselves from the ex slaves after the war.

Beautiful couple. Every ethnicity comes in every shade including white people but orange? Do you see naturally orange white people? If you see that it comes from a tanning lotion or bed or what have you. I'm not pink, not orange, not white.....I'm buff beige. Lol! Btw some families don't just shun you if you marry a different ethnicity. My husbands' family shuns us because we have a profoundly disabled adult child. Some people fear difference, they fear what they don't understand and don't like being out of their comfort zone. So it's easier for them to pretend you don't exist any longer. My dad passed away and he never met my late husband because he didn't come to our wedding and when I said I would bring him over so they could meet my dad told me "don't bother unless he's as black as me". That statement hurt me to the core and put distance between my dad and I. My mom loved my late husband and his family. We are all God's children and I thank Him for giving me the best mother-in-law ever.

I ended it for my mental health cause he was a moms boys and never defended me. I respect you guys for being so honest. When I hear these stories I realize how blessed I am. My husband is " of European decent"😂😂 and I am not. Black and proud!!😊. But my in laws have always been loving. In fact I tease my husband his mother loves me more. My family loves my husband also. But, the fact that I sometimes forget that everyone doesn't have my experiences. And it humbles me. I appreciate the respect you show your family even while you handle the disappointments it may have caused.

This is the 3rd video I've watched of SheSaidHeSaid and I love the way they look at one another. I see nothing but love there.
Interestingly, Im black and my family was very excepting. My husband is lebanese and he has fought and tried to educate his family on their unaccepting attitude towards me. They love the grandkids and after 32 years we are very cordial towards each other. It was nothing but the grace of God giving me a forgiving spirit for them. My heart goes out to Jay.
It’s sad anybody has to fight for these types of things. People should love. There is too much hate.

When I was dating my now ex boyfriend, who is white, he spent every holiday, birthday, any and all special events with my family for almost 10 years. They loved him and treated him like he was a brother, uncle or cousin. But not once in those almost 10 years did I ever get invited to be with his side of the family, except for with his mom and stepdad for any special family events. He claims that some of his extended family members were racists and he just wanted to avoid the negative comments and fights that would probably happen by having me show up to a family gathering. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt my feelings. I wish he had invited me anyway but it is what it is. As I stated, he's my ex now lol.
