🏁 650 HP Camaro ZL1 & AP1 S2000 Canyon Run | Touge POV

- We all know that the driver is the most important mod in the canyons. When capable drivers run touge built vehicles, it becomes a true challenge to chase. The 650 horsepower Camaro ZL1 takes the lead in this canyon run, while the AP1 S2000 chases. The humble Mk6 Golf does camera duty and pushes the tires’ grip limit to maintain speed.
The S2000 has many modification goodies for the street such as exhaust, wing, and under 100 treadwear tires.
The Golf driver (SEE CREDITS) took me to their area to show how their group drives are like. Great experience - and I plan to come back to drive with a somewhat capable car in the future 👌

Definitely need more touge videos like this. I enjoy them more rather than straight line street racing, tbh. Anyone can drive in a straight line, but it takes real skill to handles corners like you three, especially on a downhill! Great vid

Not anyone can drive in a straight line when you have upwards of 700 hp, it starts to get tougher right around there, but I do give alot of driving credit to touge racers
Amen
well you must drive one healla slow car in a line. lmao, once you get up to speed in a "line" one wrong move and there is no stopping, plus most drag racers have fast cars not this small 800hp but like 1500-2200hp
@@pancakeking2467 I see what you're saying. Don't get me wrong, roll racing/drags are fun. I'm not saying it's easy to do hose as well, especially from digs. But it's mainly about HP, rather than having a balanced car on a windy road. But touge racing is on some other level where high HP doesn't mean shit. I've seen miatas keep up with high HP camaros, vettes, and porsches at tracks + touges. Nowadays people just buy high powered cars and think they're fast. That's what I meant by " Anyone can drive fast in a straight line" two years ago.
The seamless of the two POV angles are very nice; a view of the pedals on the right could could be interesting to add!
Great video and great editing!
The Nissan facts were fucking gold lmfao
That Filthy Frank footage at the end completely scared the shit out of me.
Your videos are definitely progressing man! Very enjoyable to watch! We should do something together now that it's getting warmer!
That road is absolutely beautiful... So much banking. Also, I've never seen a touge run in the daytime.
Lol dragonballZ background game music is playin in da background 😂
Wow that road looks amazing to drive on!
It is
I really dig the New Camera setup! Awesome Content
Thank you! 👌
That camera view on the wheel is awesome!
That zl1 is moving for its size
Ace combat 5 music to race? Great to hear something else than eurobeat.
I see you also improved on the handling techniques, but altough i like gutter runs I got to admit that they're just dangerous, you could find rocks or nails there.
In this case Ridge is not the driver, I am, but we cooperated on this video. I think when the time is right most drivers will use the gutter/road camber a bit. You are right about it being dangerous, but for a FWD car using that dip is sometimes the only way the car can clear high speed corners without under steering. And I believe Ridge's overall skill is better than mine, I'm just familiar with this road, and I'm sure he could still keep up with me there.
Bay Area Touge - Paul122157 you are the camera car driver I see, I'm learning fast driving as well.
I'm careful with the gutters and the asphalt edges by how risky they are to use by that, but I got a question tough.
When it comes about corner approach/entry is it me or they're pretty similar to 4WD cars on it?
Omega The husky, Yeah, before you attempt to drop your wheel in any gutter you got to survey the road, and not just once, but literally on that same day, you have to look for debris first, so passing the road at a slow pace a few times is what I do to get the feel of road conditions.
As of FWD cars, and especially the Golf, it shared similarities with AWD but some differences too. When you over push your FWD you get under steer, this is similar to many AWD vehicles. The difference lies in what you can do to clear the corner, with a FWD, pressing the throttle will only make you go straighter, so you end up pulling off throttle and probing the brakes depending on the amount of under steer you get. With an AWD it's similar but in some cases you can just throttle out of the corner, something not very achievable with FWD. Also the best way to keep up with AWD and RWD with a FWD in my opinion, is to enter the corner with speed and brake late, this will create under steer but you can take it away with trail braking. The orthodox method would be to brake early, and then throttle out carefully as to not get under steer, but this may cause you to loose some mph while entering the corner, and depending on your tires and acceleration you may not gain many more back by end of corner, that's why i stick with entering corner fast, and braking through it. Your entry speed will be higher, your exit speed will be about the same, but for part of that corner you gained speed over the orthodox driver.
The corner at 55 seconds of you late Apex at the point where it goes off camber there's much more grip but only works for double landing at night
Wherever you are you have some fantastic roads lol
They are quite nice!
Im just starting to get into performance driving, i used to be very interested in drag racing in my high school years but an interest in japanese car culture and a move to the rocky mountains (delightful roads here to lol) has really shifted my interests to the mountain passes!
Nice! Drag racing is more of what the car can do, but learning technical driving can really help with self-development 👌
I would love to run thro these roads
Looks alot like California...Maybe up by big bear? Or maybe more towards the central coast?
Would it be possible to grab a view from one of the more serious/quicker cars next time? Good idea but we hardly got a shot of the s2000 let alone the camaro :/
Yes, I have the POV viewpoint of the S2000 on a different run 👌 Will be released later on
Ahh yes, because posting illegal street racing videos under my actual name in a state where that would get my car crushed and my licence confiscated for 12 months is a smart idea.
I like the content but I dont like click bait titles, if it was named "golf drives on a road" I still would have watched it and not cared.
I'm sorry if the title was misleading in any way. I'm not a fan on clickbait titles either and it's tricky creating a title/thumbnail combo that both eye-catching and informative. I want the content to be visible to people interested in technical driving, and leaving out the performance cars in the title would make it difficult for others to see. The drivers put effort which made the video possible, and it would kind of suck if they didn't get the recognition 👌
why you dont buy a cheap car for touge ? like a mr2 aw11 or a civic?
I occasionally use the Civic for Touge but it's too slow to keep up with competent drivers. It'll be featured when I can find a good matchup for it 👌
I know a good matchup for it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
It would get murdered by the Crosstrek
Ridge Chaser what Civic do you own? And why not get a faster one like a SI or something? Not to make you change from something you love but I am just curious haha..
LOL that Camo is gone boys. LOL
I would be a bit ridiculous if it didn't pull away like that haha
Looks like 0_os s2000. That man is a god
Not even close to it
Zac Horgan when I saw the thumbnail as I scrolled by I thought it was him
They're different colours but
Zac Horgan it’s silver though?
o_O is probably faster with re-71r. this guy is on Hankook semi slicks, which explains why all the rocks get kicked up.
With this video I'm almost 100% sure I know who's driving that S2000.
ChainsawChuck13 god arm?
nope. wrong car.
calvin chung bunta?
Omega The husky getting close.
What car would you recommend for beginners in touge/canyon racing?
gymkhana in a truck Obviously any car that has been set up properly, with a tuned suspension, performance alignment, and performance tires (which he has done none of and still understeers like crazy). Visit a reputable performance shop with racing pedigree and they can dial any car in. If you’re low income get a pre-2002 civic manual.
Anything that has low maintenance since seat time would be priority 👌
So a 90's Civic/Integra if you're OK with FWD, Miata for RWD. That's my general answer but there's a lot of factors like what you want out of your driving, your budget, safety, etc
Ridge Chaser ok, thanks for the suggestions, I’m thinking about an NB miata or a civic
gymkhana in a truck The civic will be more forgiving. RWD has a steeper learning curve.
In descending order of importance:
-A decent crash rating
-Low brake fade
-Low power
-Low grip
MUST AVOID:
-Four and Five Point Harnesses (most normal seat belts are an energy-management reeling system, which guide you into the airbag. Racing harnesses are fixed, and increase the risk of excessive head and neck displacement injuries, which is why racing drivers use HANS devices.)
-Any full roll cage (and maybe roll bars, half-cages too), EVEN with safety padding (because the padding is designed for helmets and is still very hard). It's not safe to assume that just because can't normally reach your head to the bar that it's far enough away. Also door-bars are a decent way to brake things in your hips and legs.
If you are interested in rwd, the miata is a great starting point. Decent room to grow and predictable handling. The stock dampers and suspension travel (1/2 inch travel for NB both front and rear stock!!!) are the weak points, so be careful on bumpy roads. The car community emphasizes RWD, but don't shy away from FWD if you don't have a personal preference, and remember you can still explore oversteer if you set the car up for it.
We want the lancer back
Those Camaro’s have an obscene amount of tire under them. At AutoX those things are dumb fast for being so big.
Yes they get underrated because of how the public perceives Camaros, but they can dominate the list
Ridge Chaser For sure, the new Camaro’s are a great performance bargain. If I had the money I would probably buy one and this is coming from a Mustang owner.
Houston Hooligan I prefer Subaru
The ZL1 was GONE!!!
Happy B-Day to me~
Happy birthday to you Peter!
Happy belated birthday!
When you gonna get some proper tires and start running more than -3 degrees of camber in the front with stiffer damping so you’ll stop understeering my dude
If the "sponsors" have a car with a setup like that, then that will be the soonest time
Ridge Chaser that made absolutely no sense, the DK frowns upon you
Everyone has different budgets and choices when it comes to driver training. I believe proper tire setups are essential to setting fast last times, but they tend to cover up mistakes which isn't great for learning the car's limits. We drive a variety of cars to prepare us for a situation where a purpose-built car isn't available.
On the occasion that we have sticky tires available, it doesn't take too much time to adjust to them. On the other hand, drivers who solely use performance tires generally take longer to get used to a bad setup. Hope this clarifies things a little bit 👌
Could u please tell that man in the s2000 to start making yt vids again? Pleaaaaasssseeeee
he makes videos ?
1. Squealing tires on inside corners is something I really try not to do when there could be someone coming.
2. You must really hate Nissan.
3. My mother had a 2006 XTerra 4x4 which was a wonderful car (the gearbox always sounded like it was dying but it never did), but she took a moose to the face. She walked away without a mark, the X on the other hand... now she has a 2014 Dodge Journey which I can't really recommend in any way except that it has OK power and not-completely-lame AWD.
It's true that I'm not a fan of modern Nissan, but it's because their performance and reliability for many models has dropped significantly from 10 years ago. Their sedan's transmissions will overheat in under 5 minutes of performance driving which ruins what would be a generally decent car. The "Nissan Fact" about the Xterra was more of an easter egg since it was discontinued in the U.S. after 2015
I should have caught that, but I guess sleep deprivation ruins my ability to puke out car trivia too. Automatic gearboxes, however, do seem to have become their weak point. With the XTerra, the problem was a design fault that allows engine coolant to contaminate the transmission fluid (don't ask me how they messed that up).
I do have to be that guy and bring up the tire-squealing corners with people coming the other way again. Lots of oncoming traffic, lots of bicyclists, construction, that was just the wrong time and place to be pushing like that, although it seems you yourself weren't actually the driver.
Since I was the driver I'd like to address your concern. I agree with you on that and most of the time I adhere to such safety practices, however it's not always possible, for example in certain corners you can't see oncoming traffic, back roads are filled with such corners so it be almost impossible to improve driving ability if I were to drastically slow down for all of them. Therefore I always stick to my lane and rarely ever cross it, many people will use more space when conditions are more favorable, I never get outside my lane even if I'm able to control for car traffic. As of the wheels squealing it's not necessarily my throttle inputs or steering making them squeal, it occurs due to the fact that they are all season tires, they grip excellently but still squeal within their grip range, this often surprises other drivers because it seems as if I'm sitting on the limit of grip but I'm not, I could be driving through back roads under speed limit and my tires will squeal unexpectedly. But the feedback is great and I will keep that in mind for next time.
Come to lil t we have a run planned
What state you in
A state of lust. Lust for speed.
Your car is 1.4 TSI?
The one in the video is a 2.5 (actually not my car though) 👌
Ridge Chaser ok thanks mate! Nice videos!
That camaro may slide a little for a reason
lots of mountain dew on these roads... *in texan accent*
did ur ex drive a nissan? lol
Fun and all but people who race in the day time fuck it up for everyone else. The road becomes a hot spot for cops and last night some asshole was threatening to call the cops on the people parked in that road. Stop racing in the day time!!!!
scrape city
U race ur time not others thats how accident happen
Gapped lol
Base model Golf vs S2000 & ZL. And the drivers are back road veterans so keeping up ain't a piece of cake, but the more you chase quick drivers the more you improve.
