My father was an ARVN officer, so due to that background, I'll always call the city Saigon. Most Vietnamese wouldn't care at this point, but it is what it is. In America, fresh mean, never frozen, didn't ice it. In Vietnam, fresh means we just harvested it from the farm. Your cocnut desert for example, the kem dua.
@Limewire1984 you're right, a lot of people don't care at this point, but like you, we also refer to the city as Saigon! that's right, farm to table pretty much, or a coconut harvested right there and then for immediate consumption!!! it's wild!!
It's a great street for food, definitely check out the coconut ice cream guy! Also Vinh Khanh in district 4 is quite lively and has lots of hot pot, seafood and bbq food!!
the herbs u were asking for the names in the beginning when u were eating Banh Xeo, the name of the two following the order u were showing : heartleaf (or fish mint) and my fav vietnamese perilla
Hi Kelly! Thank you so much for letting me know the names of the two herbs! Funny it's called fish mint and not heart mint 😂, I love both those herbs so much ☺️

When you eat banh xeo, do not wrap it with rice paper, just wrap it with lettuce,
It taste much better that way.
Yes we also like it without the rice paper because the rice paper makes you so full!

I don't like the way they just give you dry rice paper without any water to soften the paper. It's a little too tough for me to chew
