Hi Gil,glad to get the point in Edmonton hope to do better in the next game! And hope to see some players returning to the lineup soon we’re going to need them.
Stanley Cup finalists, but yeah, totally true. They are gutting it out and exceeding expectations with all these injuries. Thanks for the comment, Darrell. LGI.
Great show, we need to get some players back, especially on the defense. Isaiah George’s smooth skating reminds me of Kenny Jönsson and I can tell he’s the real deal. However, he does make a lot of mistakes & normally I wouldn’t mind at all with a rookie, & if we had a deep team and we were way above 500? I’d say keep playing him but we can’t afford to lose games. We need Romanov back ASAP. They haven’t been playing bad hockey. (Other than that ridiculous pile-up in front of Sorokin when everyone was puck-watching and Mayfield took a penalty) If they can keep treading water until guys get healthy? We’ll be in good shape. Any news of anyone getting close to playing? P.S. I was talking to my pharmacist today who plays ice hockey and I asked him how many times he’s accidentally put the puck in his net. He said a lot of times. I did it too a few times myself (it happens) My point is if that puck doesn’t go off the skate and into our net against the Devils? No way the Devils win that game. My pharmacist just lost in the playoffs, lol sucks losing in the playoffs. Even if it’s a men’s rec league.
Ken, it's always frustrating when those fluky things happen and you lose. It does happen occasionally and sometimes there isn't much you can do about it. Romanov is skating on his own but not practicing with the team yet. They need to hang in there until everybody gets healthy. George will be fine, but he will make some rookie mistakes along the way. Right now, they have to choice but to play inexperienced guys. Thanks for the comment, Ken and LGI
Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? The Islanders were outplayed by the Oilers last 🌙, but they came back and tied the game. Patrick Roy pulled the goalie, and for once, it worked. Even though they lost in OT, this is one loser point that was well worth it. 👍, so they couldn't ✋️ Connor McDavid, but Mick Jagger said it best, "You can't always get what you want." The PP was terrible, but what else is new. It figures Connor McDavid gets a goal that shouldn't have counted, but it is to their credit, the Islanders kept their cool. Ilya Sorokin was solid again. JG Pageout had 2 assists. Isiah George made 2 mistakes, but he was saved by Sorokin. Hero, Anders Lee for stepping up. 🐐, the PP and the PK again. They're in Vancouver tomorrow 🌙. Bridgeport is worse than the parent CLUB. HAPPY 🎂, TIM JACKMAN. Hear from you tomorrow, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
I'll take the point after the way the game went last night. The team showed some toughness and hung in there. Sorokin was a big reason they got the point. Thanks for the comment, Cindy. LGI.
They don’t play to win, they play not to lose especially when they have a lead, even after they tied it they gave Edmonton plenty of chances to retake the lead, like I said before see where we’re at by the deadline if we’re in it be buyers but if we’re out then it’s time to trade Nelson, palmeri and maybe if Lee continues to play well a team could take him off our hands for cheap, we’re not a rebuilding team but getting out of those 3 contracts alone could help us retool for next season
They should make those moves, kpowers9215, but Lou is unlikely to make them. We'll see how this plays out. First they need to get healthy. Thanks for the comment and LGI.
Until it goes awfully wrong, keep Lee and JGP together! They are upping each others game. Again, as it was against NJD, this result is not what any fan would hope for. But against a team like EDM, with all the injuries, I’ll take it.
Agreed, Thomas on both counts. I'll take the point against Edmonton and yes, Lee, Barzal and JPG have worked well together. Thanks for the comment and LGI
Gil, yes illya stole us a point but I feel the officials robbed us of the chance at the other one. That was a clear trip on wahlstrom. Like butchie said, “only reason that wasn’t a penalty is because it was mcSAVIOR. “ ridiculous. Glad to see Sorokin back to his old self. Id still like to know when he originally hurt his back last season?
That no call was bad as I said on the podcast .They always give star players more leeway, not that it's right but that's how it often is. I am also relieved Sorokin is back to form. The Isles would be lost without him right now. Thanks for the comment, Robert.
Gm Gil. No, the Isles now have more OTL than any other team in the NHL and are in reality, 6-10. We were watching boys play men ie a minor league club versus the big club. The Isles are old, slow, and are not behaving like a well coached club. I have to assume that the plan is to play out the bad contracts and keep quite a few other players off the unemployment line as there are not a lot of players on this team that other teams would want to add. I am bothered by the poor play of Horvat because he has regressed. Nelson, again, was a no show. The D collapsed in on Sorokin too many times leaving him to have to bail them out. I thought play in overtime really showed the difference between elite and marginal.
There is no doubt the Oilers have a lot more skill and talent than the Isles, especially when they are missing so many players (but even when they aren't). I give this group credit for hanging in there, but the Isles are not in the Oilers league for pure talent. Thanks for the comment, Eric, and LGI
Come back to tie the game after getting out played and then to lose in OT. I can take the loss but the line combos in OT were horrible. Zero puck possession and matching up Nelson against McDavid has me puzzled. SMH!!!
The 3-on-3 favors the Oilers a lot. If you were to list the top 5 skilled players on both rosters, they may all have been Oilers. The line combinations weren't good, but the options weren't good either. I'll take the point under the circumstances. Thanks for the comment, Chris and LGI
Satisfying loser point for once. Isles battled back from 3-1 to tie game yet were outplayed badly being outshot 2-1 as once again 30 was better than oil's skinner in net. 27, 44 have picked it up getting top six minutes with 21 chipping in too yet this game showed how outmatched isles are against teams with superstar caliber players and can control play. Isles have to outplay them and hope for an off night to have a chance. 27, 44 stepped up. Too bad bottom six including 4th line are useless and add no punch to isles. pk gives up another g. I'm surprised lethal oil pp didn't get 3 pp g's against isles sorry pp. And things even out over a full season. This time isles scramble back from behind yet don't get the 2 pts. 30, 44, 27-heroes. bottom lines-goats.
I was happy for once with the loser point always. Sorokin came up big and yes, Lee and Pageau have stepped up their games. The bottom six are lifeless unfortunately and even when healthy, this team has too many interchangeably bad bottom six guys. Thanks for the comment, Steven. LGI
Glad we got a point and the islanders worked hard to get it. BUT they got grossly outplayed and give aways are terrible. Sorokin got them the point, without him they would have got. smoked.
Hi Gil! Does it not feel yucky, leading and another loser point? It’s like Vegas Gil! This crap is out of my league. These boys can keep taking this where they want to go-it’s just a little slimy for me. It’s not good Hockey even for a crap team. Win like MEN--lose LIKE MEN--but this crap has to END!!
They were trailing 3-1 and still earned a loser point on the road against a much more talented team. Am I happy with where this team is overall? No, and that's on Lou. But at the same time, they hung tough and earned a point despite being outplayed. I hope they can play better. Won't be easy to do that consistently until they're healthier. Thanks for the comment, Frankie. LGI
Hi Gil,glad to get the point in Edmonton hope to do better in the next game! And hope to see some players returning to the lineup soon we’re going to need them.
That is what this team needs. They need to hang in there, pick up points and be better when everyone is healthy. Thanks for the comment, Robert. LGI
We’ve still been putting points on the board Gil. When Barzy & Duclair come back it’ll give the team a lift 🔵🟠⚪️
It should Allan. I hope they can continue to earn enough points until then to stay in the hunt. Thanks for the comment and LGI.
@ me too Gil. It’s gonna be tough until they come back but hopefully they can get enough to keep us within touching distance. LGI
Amazing as short-handed as they are with 3 AHL D Men, they took the almost Stanley Cups Champs in their building to OT! LGI

Gil your description of the PP lol
😂
I wish it wasn't so...thanks for the comment, Charlie. Always good to hear from you. LGI
This team is not quitting we got a point where we don't do so well take it
I'll take it for sure, under the circumstances, Joshuakendra7468. I give them credit for not quitting and earning a point. Thanks for the comment. LGI

@LockedOnIslanders You're welcome, Gil. Hear from you tomorrow.
On the bright side it can’t get any worse!
Well, it could if Sorokin got hurt, or Lou signs a 10 year extension but let's not go there...LOL.

13 is the only one who could keep up with mcd. Unavailable i don't know if that would have helped, probably not.

Yeah, the fastest and most skilled players were all Oilers on the active rosters of both teams. Thanks for the comment, Steven. LGI

Spot on, GM-ri4ww. This is not sustainable, but the Isles need to keep plugging away until they get healthy. thanks for the comment and LGI.

A lot of them unfortunately. Thanks for the comment, gerrylee1687. LGI
