So what's so stupid about this is the Emperor taking his son from Concubine Ling for teaching the son against his Royal Father, but leaves her in charge of the harem. That dude was just stupid. Out of all the women capable of running the harem for Ruyi, the Emperor picked the undeserving trash just to spite Ruyi. He didn't think about what was best for the harem at all.
Not only this. After all the chaos has ended, not once did he utter, "Ruyi, I am sorry." His words were always, "I'm the Emperor, I'm the ruler of the world, you don't blame me" even if he was the one who fucked up.

Another problem is that subjects aren't able to refuse the emperor and empress. Referring to the Empress's servant girl basically being sold to the eunuch and especially Ling Yunche to that trash of a woman when he was content with being alone. I mean, speak up. Say I've already decided I won't marry because I'm content with being alone outside of serving you. The emperor will either respect it or not.

He didn’t admit any mistake he made,any! Even till the death of Ruth. He’s the main villain throughout the whole drama.
