Exactly, I got a set of Knipex wrench and cobra pliers, but my long reach needle nose are like some amazon brand i forgot the name of, but it gets the job done
The screw extraction ones did the job better than the knipex twin grips for me the other day w some screws destroyed by salt from the ocean. Just needed something tougher than my vampliers once they broke them free from zero clearance. They didn’t get damaged in the process. I was going to buy the snap on but they never have them on the truck
Ive had the same duralast mechanic set for like 10 years and ive always owned old cars that need constant diy work done. Ive only broken the flat head 3/8 one time and they replaced it for free. Its mainly how you use your tools if youre a brute and don't know how to use your tools youre gonna break anything no matter the brand
The different grips are them trying out different materials, with the knipex style pliers wrench being the softest grip they put out. Apparently the grips on the new ones are what they've decided on and will be the norm
Gone are the days where people would say they are good for harbor freight. We have strapon and we have all the piers you have there. These are just as good as our strapons and we work them hard.HF is upping there game
I have been waiting for those as well! Saw they displayed them at SEMA but it’s been almost 6 months they should be on the shelves by now? Maybe Snap-On’s lawyers got involved because I believe that design is only currently offered by Snap-On
@@jdgarage85 yeah maybe they are still under patent unlike their other snap on copies? I bought the snap on ones and I love them. Was really looking forward to getting the icons as a beater set. Thanks for the reply!
HF has a program called inside track, it’s $35 for a year and gives you access to exclusive discounts. It essentially pays for itself I recommend it if you shop at HF
Tips for presenting Have a script, or practice what you want your viewers to listen to. Stop saying "um" or "uh". When you feel you need to those, it means there is a pause. A verbal comma. Stay on track. Your viewers will lose interest if you don't. Put the phone on a tripod, mount, something to help your viewers stay focused on what you want the to focus on. The above is information from an instructor course.
@7:45 you said you save money if you don't buy them all at once. Let's say they're $12 ea. and you want 4 plyers. If you buy them one at a time that would be $12 + $12 + $12 + $12 which equals $48. If you bought them all at once it would be 4 X $12 which equals $48. I would say you save if you bought them all at once as if you bought them four separate times that would be four trips to the store which if you drove would use more gas than a single trip, not to mention the value of you time... just saying...
Good point and you are correct, you could do that and get them all at once for the same amount however, sometimes HF has a limit of only one use of coupon per purchase so you have to take that into consideration as well. Thanks for watching
I’m not sure why snap on icon comparisons are still being made today. There’s no question about it. For the people complaining about snap on prices, if you’re broke don’t buy it simple as that. Don’t live above your means. Spend your money the way you want to, as will everyone else.
Whenever something is almost an exact copy of the original they are going by be compared? That’s why Icon gets compared to Snap-On. I didn’t really compare I just said Icon is a great option for some.Everyone and their mother knows Snap-on is superior but Icon is decent for what they are. And for some it’s not about being able to afford expensive tools it’s more of if it’s worth the investment if they aren’t wrenching for a living
@@jdgarage85 Those people don't really need the Snapon pliers and consequently don't really need the Harbor Freight knockoffs either. For the most part it's not about people getting a type of tool they need for less, it's people seeing a cool popular tool they want on social media or RUclips that they can't afford then buying the cheap knockoff. Most of the Snapon pliers that are very popular today are neat and innovative but not a necessary bread & Butter tool for even many pro mechanics, so there's really no justifiable reason for the knockoffs to exist. If the Snapons aren't worth it to somebody it's because they don't need them, or the knockoffs. I do not need them, but if I did I'd either buy the Snapon or look at just what it is about them that I feel the need for and buy a different more affordable pair if pliers that can fill the role. Bro, said "when youre broke" lmao. Has nothing to do with being broke. Its about having the tools you need to make a profit. I know how you feel tho. Ive spent a couple hundred on knipex pliers wrenches just for harbour frieght to sell the same thing for less than half price.
The 3/8 flex head long handle rachet. I bought one. The head would never stay where i wanted it. Took it back now have the same rachet in snap on. Soooooo much better
To be honest if you are the type that gets hell bent over snap on you are a snob. In my opinion unless you get them for a good price there is no reason to buy snap on most of the time that even icon quality tools fail its 9/10 times operator error
The chinese do not respect our patents. The imitations are always about twenty percent shy of the original. That being said, they seem to be decent pliers for what they are. It's a good, cheap way to get on the playing field. But it's not as cheap as it used to be.
These are made in Taiwan, not China. And yes, that is a difference and it does matter. Really, we should be redirecting the distaste to the American manufacturers who think it is acceptable to charge an arm and a leg for tools. Tools SHOULD be affordable, not a debt inducing headache.

There is always going to be a lesser version of any tool you see, because not everyone can afford the 100 bucks a pliers from SnapOn. By all means snapon is the standard to beat but nothing wrong with these Icon pliers regardless of wether they are made to resemble snapons. Great video

Pretty sure HF employs more Americans than snap on. Maybe not the same income but has created American jobs. From construction to finish jobs have been made. Also snap on has copied many many designs as well they're not the first in anything and also have about 80% in-house 20% outsourced. HF has more and more US made tools all the time. I have a couple of icon pliers. They do the job but it kind of bothers me that some of the pliers have a different finish or different metal used.
Same here I’m not sure if they are made in different factories. The consistency on the material for the handle grips varies as well.
I even have 2 icon 1/4 roto head ratchets with different handles. Looks and feels different. Ones converted to 3/8 is why I have 2.
