- HOW TO CUT HAIR! Surviving your first haircut in QUARANTINE!
Many of you out there are cutting hair for your first time. Here are some useful tips to help get you through your first haircut in quarantine and maybe keep on doing it to save money.
Poor zade looked like he was not interested at all
Kirstie 1206 believe me, I’m a hairstylist and my son was never interested either! He always had better things to do lol!
He is 14 years old. They all have the same reaction and look during teenage years.
11:00 was the expression "What is she doing now?"
Kirstie 1206 Zade looks absolutely miserable 😂
Having a new video from Hair 101 with April was one of the highlights of my work week, and it has been so missed! Thank you so much!!
agreed glad she is back
Miss April’s many skills and talents.
Any hairstylist who isn’t working, these kind of videos are great! We all may know how to “cut hair” but it’s good to use this time to see how other people work their craft! Let’s spread positivity! You can always come away with something new, and if you don’t agree with something you can just not do it! Cheers and love to my fellow professionals! 😘❤️🇨🇦
Hooray, you’re back. So good to see you popping up on the screen again 👍🏻 ☺️
You can tell this kid was forced too be in his moms vid 😂😂
Pretty close to a hostage video.
Kinda weird he doesnt trust her.
Typical teens😂😂
Great video! Will be showing this to my clients! My advice to anyone (speaking from experience) cutting their own hair or someone Else’s:
1) LESS is always more. You can always cut more but you can NOT glue it back on
2) texturizing shears/thinning shears can be helpful in blending lines away
3) for longer hair like a bob or longer, when cutting the back always cut with chin down, there a reason we always ask for you to put your head down. It’s to make sure we get the hair below the occipital bone that pops in when your head is up
4) watch as many videos (like these) as you need to feel comfortable cutting (or coloring)
5)remember the difference between a good hair cut and a bad one is 2 weeks! Lol jokes aside, we (stylists) will be there for you when this calms down and will make you feel Ike a rockstar again!
😘❤️🇨🇦
households with hairstylists or even cosmetology students are quite lucky right now 😀
i'm going to have to cut my mom's hair and I really don't know anything about haircutting but your videos are a big help
I have two boys, one college age and one in HS, both stuck at home with their parents. They like to wear their hair longish and I can usually convince them to get a haircut before a holiday. Easter is coming so I ordered a set of cutting and thinning shears from Walmart. After an hour on RUclips I finally found your video. It is EXACTLY what I needed. Besides my knowing that they wont be returning to school for another month, your video gave me the confidence I needed to try it myself. Thank you! Prayers and blessings to your family.
Your videos helped me learn how to cut my husband's hair years ago. I've been cutting his hair ever since. I've upgraded my scissors, clippers, etc. over the years. Good equipment definitely makes a difference in the quality of the haircut! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
He not sad he missing school. He sad he got online home work 😂
I just cut my husband's hair at home for the first time yesterday going off of one of your older videos and it turned out great! Thanks April!
Thank you very much for your videos. I found one of your videos from about 7 yrs ago and I was able to cut my boys and hubby’s hair. Your a life saver and amazing at explaining.
OMG!! Hes grown up !! I just watched the video when he was small and u cut his hair ❤️I LOVE your videos.. you seem to be the only one that gives such great detail as to why and when to cut specific areas.... Ive cut my whole families hair during this quarantine and they really came out great.... please keep videos coming!!! Cant wait to get thinning shears!!!
I started watching you ages ago. Over the years I have checked in and received so much useful advice and tips. Thank you for keeping this up. You’re lovey and we have been doing this as my husband is a healthcare worker in New York. It always is a joy to see you.
Wow, thank you!
@@Hair101withApril Hi love your videos have you stopped making further videos? A fan from England
You did a wonderful job momma..
I've done hair for 37 years in June.
I still crave doing it every day. But my home salon is closed for the virus.
10,000 a day fine if you are caught working... WoWzErs! Sad but true...
Enjoy your family.. Be Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise...
LisA from Taylorsville, Utah
I watched one of your videos on cutting little girls hair and it turned out perfect on my daughter.! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Now I am on to cutting my son and husbands hair.. Fingers crossed it turns out well too!
I did my bf's the other week- barely a week into the salon's being closed but he was desperate. He has curly hair which took me a little longer because it's so thick, but I think curly hair hides a lot of sins thankfully! We were both pretty happy with how it came out.
He’s grown up loads ….. you haven’t changed at all , if anything you have become more beautiful, truly stunning 😍
Happy smiling teen 😂😂😂they must all be the Same lucky family with a fab mum who can cut hair x keep safe everyone out there 🇬🇧
agreed
Amen boys hair cuts aren't easy lol. April did awesome 🥰
wow great to see Zade getting his hair cut, so cute and so many need this to show them how to do home cuttings now :)
Great video! Thank you for showing your talent. You are one of the BEST!
This was a helpful boy’s hair cut I’d like to attempt on my 13 year old son. Thanks for the video! Stay safe and we are praying for the world also.
Please bring these back! I’m still studying and Covid has stopped our study until further notice! Your videos made me want to do hairdressing.. when I started 5 years ago (I know long story why I’m still going.. babies put a pause and other things.. I binge watch the free salon Education Chanel with Matt and omg he’s amazing.. however you explain things so well!
So glad to see you again, much love
Just cut my wife's hair for the first time using your "basic girls cut" video. She is happy with the results so thanks ! Good instruction.
Hi April, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your videos - I have never cut a style into long hair before, and 3 weeks into isolation my daughter was desperate for a hair cut - I haven't trained or watched anything before, literally searched RUclips for a long to short cut and found your video from 4 years ago where you did your sister's hair - drastic cut! I watched the cutting step by step and watched it whilst cutting my daughter's hair (she's 15 btw). Then I read the comments from the video!!! You got a lot of negative comments and I was really disappointed for you. I went on to watch the colour and style result, and your sister looked amazing and happy!
I am so grateful to you, and my daughter and I are both very happy. I'm going to order some thinning shears and a razor to put some layers in, as I don't have a clue how to do this with scissors, but your video has given me the confidence to try myself!
That clipper over comb technique is tricky. Especially seeing your guides. I have thinning shears, never thought to use them. Thanks for the suggestion.
I really enjoy Aprils videos she is a wonderful instructor and Hair Stylis and some day I hope she cuts her hair short again
Hope you come back soon with more videos even once here and their!! They are so relaxing to watch and learn from!! Happy Holidays 🎄 to you and yours!
Thank you! You too!
I just commented this morning when will April do hair again. It is awsome she is doing hair again. Keep it up April.
agreed
Dude she’s terrible look she butchered this poor boys hair 4:02
S Johnson she faded it you idiot.
Thank you so much for taking the time to show us a boys haircut. It is obvious you have a ton of experience and talent. I have twin boys with pretty curly hair and I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for this. I have done both my teenage boys now and surprisingly they look okay 😂. Much appreciated and greetings from Sheffield in UK 👍
I did not even recognize you at first with your long hair! I just watched a video a few days ago from you cutting Zade's hair when he was like 8 y/o. He has grown so much! Y'all look great, and thank you for the content!!
Also, just came back from your cutting Zades hair 6 years ago when you’re talking about taking barbering in school and having to learn men’s cute WITHOUT guards. I totally agree and learned the same way. Do you have a video with using the guards though to show people to cut with them because they didn’t learn to do proper clipper/scissor over comb?
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see you back April hair 101
Finally a good explanation of HOW to cut hair. Everyone talks about making a guide but no one said it had to be parallel to the floor. I’ll know for next time thanks!
Wow, welcome back! I used to watch your videos to learn how to cut hair. I've been cutting my mom's hair ever since :) now that I'm married and have a son, I cut both my wife and son's hair. I'm not very good still since I don't cut hairs every day, but I do want to perfect the art of hair cutting. Just bought a pair of shears and hair clipper. Hope to see more videos from you.
Happy to see you back on this channel! Prayers for you and your family 💙
You are amazing! I’m an esthetician in a salon/spa, so it’s hard to be away from my clients. You are amazing and love watching your older videos!
Thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for this! I’ve been using your video since March to cut my boy’s hair!
So great to watch you on 101 with April. Being a hairstylist myself, I loved watching your videos and your many highlights and haircuts. With women not being able to go to the salon, You should do a video on color touch up.
I’ve watched your videos for YEARS and I have to say that you don’t seem to ha e aged a day! I think you might even be prettier now. ツ
Hope that’s not too weird.
And thank you so much for generously making your videos to educate all of us regular people.
Thank you for sharing this.
I’m sharing with my family.
Also, praying for y’all and EB.
Praying God’s strength and protection during this pandemic.
God bless and keep you all safe and sound.
What a great skill hair cutting is!!!!!! Never take my hair dresser for granted ever again!!!!!! Dude, your mom just gave you a cool $50 style cut for guys! Tip - Thank her well!!!!🤓
zade looked so much like johnny orlando at the end 😂
agreed
Great tips and teaching👍🏻Love watching your family vlog too. Very sweet family and children😇
“Just pull up and away”...can we have more of a detailed explanation on clipper over comb, or scissor over comb?
At the shortest length you would hold the comb pretty close to the head but as you go higher on the head you’ll gradually hold the comb a little further from the head to create the fade. And she said it’ll take practice so I’d start by cutting a little at a time until you get the hang of it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Use guards if you have them. So much cleaner fading
April!! thank you so much - you are AMAZING. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this...here goes my first attempt! My husband has a new job and it is online video at this point so he must look presentable. I will let you know. I have two girls too, would love to see a long hair trim, too!
Oh thank goodness for this video! My husband badly needs a haircut and I don't want to ruin this hair.
I was so happy to see you back, I love all of your videos. Thank you so much for posting this, hope to see more to come.
Thank you that was so helpful. I tried to cut my son's hair before but didn't know how to do it. Now I know what I did wrong and can try again.
I you are so needed!! Lol 😂 I’ve been watching and rewatching videos to get ready cut my sons hair. ❤️
I love your video’s as a mom to do this at home! Thanks April😘
My husband is going to do your 90 degree haircut on my curly hair once we get our shears delivered. Very helpful!
Hi April watching you in Ireland xx best wishes I'm hairdresser just back to my little salon this week x
April you're back! ❤❤ Great video as always and great cut. Zade looks like you! Had to chop some of my own hair recently. Felt like a weight was lifted!
Hello April. Your videos are always helpful and your hair model did a good job
So happy to see you again!!!!
I found your channel via video HOW TO CUT BOY'S HAIR // Taper Fade Haircut with No attachments
Thanks a lot for this video. It improved my children's hair cutting techniques.
By the way, I congratulate you on developing your passion and wish you strength for years to come.
Thank yo, thank you, thank you!!! With 6 sons and a husband I don't know what to do. My oldest 2 boys have thick thick straight blond hair so hard to cut. I ordered my thinning shears today and hope I can follow your advice. Thankfully I have a couple younger boys who enjoy a simple buzz or hard-part & long top look.
Hi April I learnt so much from you and 2 others, missed your hair videos
Very Helpful. Thanks for sharing and caring.
It is good to see you again! I miss your short fantastic hairstyle which I always loved. Hugs from London🥰
Nice job Zade, can tell this is not his 1st mom-cut. Looking Good!
Can you please make more of these videos 😍😍😍 I have six boys ages 7,11,14,15,15,16 😵 so you can understand my dilemma at the moment. Im great with the clippers. Shaved lots of heads, now I think I might pick up a new hobby while in quarantine.
THANK YOU 🙏
You are so welcome
Yay!!! I'm so happy you are back!!! ❤😀
Welcome back!!!! I love your videos, stay in the salon!
I am so relieved. My middle Son's hair is so straight...so there is no way to hide how long it is. It's over his ears and in his eyes. He's going crazy. I am nervous to cut his hair...but he's actually begging me. I have nice clippers. Scissors are so-so. But I have to figure this out because he's about to cut it himself if I don't do something! Thank you so much (watched you videos from 6 years ago to soak it all in...lol).
Thank u for this video, especially for showing how to cut the top!💜
Hi April! Thankfully my husband has a really short haircut so it's super simple but i do cut my mom's hair for a few years now thanks to you❤❤ so thank you! Stay safe! 😘😘
I missed Hair 101! Glad to see you in the salon!😁❤ Zade looks just like you.
If you all want to make this much easier and faster, just use a clipper with a #8 on the top and use a #3 - 4 clipper for the sides and back . You can then blend it in with a #6 between the #8 and # 3 . No scissors required. If you want it shorter, just go down in clipper number. Its what I do and it always comes out good. Have been doing it for years now.
This was soooo helpful!!! I’m a want to be self taught hairdresser (just for my kids) and have watched tons of these types of videos, and this was the most helpful one on a boy’s haircut I’ve ever seen! Thanks for posting!
Thank you! This was extremely helpful. Off to cut my 14yo's hair. Pray for him. 😆🙏
Absolutely love you April and your videos. Look, I want to know if I can use permanent hair color applied with a comb for gray blending. Men complain that it only lasts maybe six weeks. They don't want to wear the cap. Please let me know! Could you do a video! A lot of men have solid white hair.
Hello from France ! So happy To watch you ....We miss you so much. ..thank you for this vidéo 😍take care of you and your family 😍
I have been cutting mine for 7 years. Backwards and in a mirror. Good tutorial!
This is a great idea, April. Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure this was off the radar for a lot of people amidst the initial panic, and now they're thinking about it. Really appreciate the inclusion of using every day scissors.
I don't colour my hair, but I've noticed some ladies I work with are having a lot of their roots showing ... maybe you could come up with an idea for helping ladies (and men) with that issue.
Blessings. 🌷
I suggested to April to do a color touch up video. Many women are desperate!
Yes, I can just imagine. 🌷
Hi April I love your long hair! I’m glad you decided to grow it out!! Can you please do a hair straightening tutorial for your next video? I bet your hair looks amazing when it’s silky straight!! Are you going to leave it long or chop it off?
Very helpful. Glad you're back!
Wasn’t he on your videos like long time ago 😱? Stay safe, thanx for the video!!
So glad to see you back again April ❤ did you get your license? Could you make bonder videos? like olaplex vs matrix bond ultim8? would love your opinion
So happy to see this , sure have missed you 🌸💗 thank you & stay safe.
Love your videos! I was just looking for one of your old videos and saw this. You're so great at explaining haircuts for a novice like me! Off to cut my son's hair for the first time. I told him it's a good time for me to practice if he wants me to do it from now on! 😃
His face was hilarious I can tell he hated to be recorded haha very cute haircut thank you
Look at his eyes when she says "14 years old boy,.." at 0.12 " 😂😂😂
Yay!!! I’ve so missed you cutting hair!
When i found you a a new stylist i watched alllll of your videos
Thank you so much April! Very helpful!
Ah so glad I found this, Zade looks sooo much like Davey! Such a lucky kid :)
Thanks for the video. Your son was watching you like a hawk.

I've only seen your old videos, you look good with long hair. It suits you.
Thanks hope your safe I'd to use scissors to hand, had to give myself a trim had hair in braid and bobbin was severely knotted at the end. That's where the ends were so no matter. I feel better now they're gone.
Perfect look and great variety of tricks and tips. Thanks!!
Thanks April! Really appreciate the tutorial! ❤️
Oh! Thank you so much for this video! Great Idea to do this video in this time! Lot of mens and boys needed this!
Soooo glad to see your back! You look great!
