At 6 minutes that beautiful glass jar is called a biscuit barrel which is an early form of cookie jar. Well worth repairing! 🙂

Thanks for posting that the English biscuit barrel, I remember those from my childhood. It was frowned upon to put a packet on to the table.

The Kewpie dolls are Chalkware Kewpie Flapper Dolls. Dating from the 1920’s.

Eastern Star teacup set! My grandmother was an Eastern Star! It was a auxillary of woman in a spiritual based organization that served their communities and sisterhood! The star was their emblem!🙏🏾♥️
I bought a set 2 years ago because MY grandma was an Eastern Star, too.
The 1920’s hanging face holder would have been used to keep clothes pegs in for hanging up laundry.
OMG that makes perfect sense I was racking my brain trying to think what they would have put in that bag I am 65 so I well remember hanging clothes on the line for my mother and we did have a bag with a clothes hanger sewn into it nothing fancy just usable

At one time they would have a bridal shower called a teacup party. My Mom was married in the 30's and they would serve tea in new teacups and cakes on fancy new plates. Everyone brought one. After washing up they were gifted to the bride to be. Great pieces. Glad Melissa got to keep the sewing machine. Would love to have one like that as mine is so heavy to lift. Great treasures. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Exactly. I've seen simular in my family as well. Maybe she would continue the collection or just cherish the cups and saucers from that special day. Always stored in beautiful glass cabinets that warned to stay away from. It was a great tradition that young brides I think would still enjoy. Brides have so many different showers within the church family this one would still be great for just ladies ones. Those were some pretty teacups in her collection.
The teacup with stars is representative if Eastern Star which is a branch of the Masonic temple. My mother was in that from age 18 to into her 80s. Ironically enough she also had a Singer Featherweight machine.
Yes! That is what I ment. My mom's side was in all that stuff. Masons, Eastern star, white shrine. (Not my cup of tea, so to speak.)
Yes that teacup Eastern Star…ladies…my grandmother was a Worthy Matron for years and member until her death.

Hall is a very famous and collectible brand of pottery in the US. I have several pieces. I love this teapot!
My old Hall China book lists your coffee pot under "Tricolator Products" and the shape/style is "Wilson." The price listed is $20-25 USD, but my Hall China Book was purchased in 1989, so I don't know what current values are. I have 25 or so Hall teapots. :)
On line they range from $30 to $35 USD
I love Hall pottery.

Oh, Melissa! I’m so happy you chose to keep the Singer Featherweight! I have one that my mother gifted me in the 1970s. They may be small, but they are a workhorse of a machine! Find a reputable place to have it cleaned and give it some love. There are multiple Featherweight Facebook groups and oodles of RUclipss that will help you to get started. You can also look up the serial number online to see when your machine was made. Can’t wait to see what your first project will be! Happy sewing!!!

That other cloth bag may be a clothes pin bag. They had so many uses. As always so interesting to watch I just love the mystery of what you find. :)

If you have always used a clothes dryer, a clothes pin bag wouldn't come to mind...ya don't know what ya don't know. lol
I think they are pyjama cases. Keep your nightdress/pajama in during g the day. Too delicate for household chores and be handled all the time
My Grandma had one. Not quite as fancy. This was in amazing condition. Grandma kept her "Support hose " her whispering Which was her Stockings. She lived to almost 90. passed in 1981. Never wore anything but dresses her Entire life. Isn't that amazing. She worked for Rice Stix which ironically made Lee jeans.

Also I think "the clown" doll is a later version of a kewpie doll.
Melissa buy a charm square package of fabric and sew those nice little squares together. You cannot go wrong. Abagail is the perfect age to sew straight seams also. 🇨🇦
The featherweight is perfect as a starter, and Abigail is not too young to begin sewing. The boys may be interested, too. Boys tend to be interested in the machine aspect of sewing.
Alex, that pink glass/silver top jar is Victorian, and called a biscuit jar. I used to sell those on ebay, and one like yours would usually fetch around $300+. The handle can be soldered back on, and the top would have to be glued back on. They used to use a grout-like material to attach them. It is definitely worth restoring. You should get a better price for it if you do that.
Mom has a few different biscuit barrels from her mother's estate came from England the silver polishes up beautiful I love them!
The ladies of Downton Abbey had those beside their beds 🙂

This is mom's everyday sewing machine! She has everything in this case, in excellent condition. Very satisfying to watch the two of you unpack your finds. We need more of this!
Loved your unboxing Melissa and Alex! Great finds, please let us know when they are ready for sale. The box with the animals were from Uruguay and the artist is Artesania Rinconada. They should all be marked with AR on the bottom of their feet. There is also another artist named Rinconada from there that makes those adorable creatures. Jocelyn will be able to help you with your new finds, especially the glass and the AR figurines. Really enjoyed seeing all your new treasures, thank you for sharing that!

The pieces marked "Nippon" are pre 1921. At that time the US govt required imports to be marked "Japan". The raised detailing is called moriage.

Someone cherished this collection. Someone had a great eye. Overall great shape. Good examples of the decorative arts while maintaining practicality. Impressive.

The 1920's - 1930's doll with the hat & fabric pouchwould lay on the bed to keep one's pajamas in ( it's not for dirty clothes). Nice collection of items, I enjoy your videos👏🏽❣👍🏽 thank you both ❣

Your Royal Dux vase is worth some money for sure. Without damage a range from $200 up to $675 is what I found in a quick search. Might be worth repairing. It's a beautiful piece.
Those dolls would have been to put your pyjamas into for the daytime. The pink glass with the handle looks almost like a candle lantern but there are no vent holes in the lid.
I have two featherweight sewing machines. One is a freearm. I keep one permanently set up for buttonholes.

What a wonderful collection! Everything was in great condition and that's so surprising considering the age of many items. I admit, it hit a lot of my aesthetic buttons! From the stretch/swung vases, the gorgeous mid-mod Le Creuset cookware, to the vintage tea sets (I belong to a Tea Scout group and this is right up our alley!) I follow a lot of historical fashion youtubers and the older pieces are great to learn how thing were constructed. This whole video with the collections, Melissa helping... all was such a joy to watch. :)

That first glass jar is beautiful, definitely worth restoring. Pyrex! And it's a beautiful color & print! Cola bottle- SCORE! Oh, the featherweight machine! I'm a quilter, and yes, that is a valuable machine. Probably $500 American, especially with all the accessories. Get it cleaned, refurbished (rubber parts) probably about $100 American, and it will sew 4ever. The tea cup collection is beautiful. What an interesting person(s) to have such wonderful things, and to keep them in such stellar condition.
I can’t wait to see Melissa do a vlog with her sewing machine! I enjoy all of her videos, it’s like hanging out with a friend 😊

My brother and I taught ourselves to sew on that machine when we were kids. We didn't have a manual. Melissa will find it easy.
Melissa, you will love the sewing machine. It is great for mending and making quilts.
My mom has the exact same machine....and she still uses it. She bought it back in the 1950's used, and it still works. She has the case, the button holer and the guide. I learned to sew on this machine, and it is such a great find. Melissa will have loads of fun sewing on it.

I'm lucky enough to have my late aunt's Singer Featherweight. They're great little machines and Melissa will enjoy it! It should have a tray that sits on top of the machine and lifts off. There are lots of online sources for extra parts and accessories.

I love my featherweight. It cost me $400 over 25 years ago. That one is incredible condition. You can check the age by looking at the silver looking plate pattern.

The carnival glass vase colour is called marigold and the pattern name is tree trunk. I have one like it.

Alex I’m sure you know you can date by the serial number. You can do it Melissa Featherweights are great little machines. Practically indestructible and parts are readily available.
Alex, Royal Dux is a Czech/ Czechoslovak Porcelain making company. They mostly specialize on porcelain figurines, especially of hunting scenes, animals etc.
We were given a set of 12 collector tea cups with saucers in 1967. I have regifted them over the years but still have several. The porcelain is so transparent you can almost see through it.

Omg- Le Creuset is EXPENSIVE! An antique set like that would be amazing. Really happy Melissa accepted the sewing machine; if she likes the orange Creuset set, she should definitely accept that too! You two both work too hard to pass up on goodies you really like, when they so rarely come along like this. Overall you got some quality pieces in this mystery unboxing! Well done!

Good Morning, Alex. I love waking up to your videos with my morning coffee! The milk glass lady head vase is showing on eBay as a succulent planter. Not sure that's correct but several listings as such.
Milk glass head appears to be product container, Circa 1900, and would have had a metal or paper lid. When the product was used up you had an attractive vase.
31 minutes the Red Cross cup is for giving liquids to a bedridden patient. The lily of the valley teacup is sweet. My grandmother collected teacups and I have 1 of hers.

The Hall tea pot is great and the biscuit jar even broken I'd love to have! 10 minutes in and I'm wishingvI lived closer and shipping wasn't so terribly high.
Is that what they call a fingervase? I've seen the Crazy Lamp Lady buy them and her resell is very high. In fact she collects them

I am so glad you had Melissa help on this unboxing...so many beautiful items we got a better view of. Loved most everything! I was thinking about the niche you were building into the new house-the art glass vases would add color and warmth.
Absolutely love the glass pieces. We recently inherited several pieces (like way too many). Upon selling them off we definitely learned a lot about glass. We did keep a few pieces though. Amazing reads about the history behind some of the glass companies over the years. I’d have to say the Viking glass and Blenko are our favorites. We sold several Fenton pieces. Most of what we sold were from the 50s up to late 70s.
Love the Artesania Rinconada animals. Also love the art glass, I don't have room for another piece, but it sure is beautiful.
I would suspect that the milk glass head vase is Mosser, but not sure.
The clown and what looks like a fancy clothespin bag look newer because of the material - maybe 1960's or so? The teapot set and the biscuit jar - Oh my, how beautiful! I have the Featherweight that was my mother-in-law's which she used only a few times. I am a quilter and have never used it myself though I treasure it. Wonderful items and fun to watch the unboxing!

The clown fabric bag things were to store your nightgown. They weren't laundered every morning, so you would place them in the bag. If you didn't have anything that fancy, you would just place them under your pillow. My grandmother (who was born in 1890) spoke about this habit very casually when I was a child. She was surprised that I tossed my nighties into the hamper every morning.
My grandmother used them her whole life. I don’t wash my nighties every day because I shower before bed every night. But I do not wear one for more than maybe 3 days max. Back then, they had far, far fewer clothes than what we have. Even the wealthier classes.

@@debshaw680 Linen was the fabric of choice for underclothing for just this reason. I have started using my hand sewn, linen medieval shifts in everyday rotation since the start of covid and surprising those folks knew a thing or two. My shift stays reasonably fresh for 1 week, this being independently sniff tested by my daughter. lol
My grandmother puts her nightgown under her pillow before she makes her bed. She'll wear the nighty three or 4 days before washing it. She's almost 103.
I got the Pyrex for my wedding in 1985 if that helps date it. It’s called Colonial Mist.
Having just a few boxes to go through, and being able to do it at a calm pace, with Melissa, and lots of normal conversation between the two of you (not kinda stiff like some live-stream convo can be) lead to a quiet, peaceful video where we could appreciate each piece and enjoy the discussion. Really just what I needed on a tense night after a stressful day. Serendipitous timing! Thanks so much!

That horse may be one of Henry VIII war horses that he personally bred. There are still a number of them at Hampton Court from the original line. This was one of the best videos I've seen. I love thecrelaxed banter between you and Melissa. My kids are named Alex and Melissa.

That one looks like Fenton April Showers pattern, Circa 1911 and worth about 35 to $40.

What a terrific unboxing. So much more of the things I collect have been in your videos lately. I never thought I’d see you getting Le Creuset. I’ll never give up mine. When I finished college, I sublet 2 different apartments and both had kitchens with that cookware. I knew nothing about it but quickly saw how great it was. When I got my own apartment, I saved up and started buying Le Creuset for myself. Still using those starter pieces. Thanks for keeping us interested.
I have one ,singer feather weight, 1951 model with the gold trim work. Has the special singer badge and it works, Great.

The sewing machine is lovely and hardly ever used by the looks of it, I have the same buttonholer attachment on my older Singer sewing machines and it is very interesting to use. They have cams you drop into the bottom of the item in the size you want.
I remember using cams for making button holes on my clothing

Great treasures. My Grandma had a singer in the case. I was given it by my Sweet Momma. I will use that machine over any new one. My Grandma worked at Rice Stix factory which they made Lee Jeans. The mechanics there kept Grandma's Singer in tip top shape. Awesome 🌟

I have the same sewing machine - a Singer featherweight. I am glad Melissa is keeping it. It IS A great, practical machine. It will be handy with a new home….hemming curtains, pillow covers, tablecloths…always handy!

Very curious about the name on the navy and sort of rust coloured teacup. Might be highly collected and valuable.

My son bought a brand new set of pots with stand for $20. Worth more than $500. Looked like a gift that nobody used or knew the value of. Feel sorry for the gifter
