Itachi would be a bit tougher, but with Sage Mode he could probably overwhelm him. The only thing Itachi has that could do anything to Jiraiya are his Mangekyo abilities and they are a massive drain on his chakra. He wouldn't have unlimited chakra like against Sage Kabuto because he wasn't Edo. But with Ma and Pa, Jiraiya would have virtually unlimited Sage Chakra.
Believe it or not, jiraya’s death had me depressed for a min and almost stopped watching naruto back then, especially after seeing Naruto’s when he heard his master/father figure died😞,,, shit actually broke me💔💔😔

If we talk about the Sannin gaining more powerful and experienced? Nah, Sakumo could hardly be that strong, otherwise he wouldn't have had the need to abort the mission to save someone.
I still believe the stories about Sakumo are just exaggerated stories, like "that guy is so strong, he can defeat 1000 ninja on his own, I saw it with my own eyes!" When it reality, they were just like a 100.

Not at the same power level. Sages are on a completely different level compared to the rest. Thats why Madara and Kurama couldnt do shit against Hashirama, thats why Orochimaru was scared of Jiraiya, and Thats why Naruto became the strongest Kage ever. Hell Jiraiya wasnt even a perfect sage and yet he could keep up with Nagato for a while despite having no informations about the rinnegan.
@@KizaruBorsalino That's a horrible take. Sage jutsu, while being impressive is not this super OP power. Itachi beat Kabuto who had a perfected version of snake sage mode and was able to put him in a genjutsu even tho he turned off his vision. Jiraiya was fighting the weakest paths of pain which were mostly defensive. If he had to fight the top 3 he would have already lost.
Don't forget Itachi was able to no diff orochimaru who is stronger than Jiraiya in base and cut off his arm. Sage mode would help but itachi is too strong for Jiraiya or any of the sages to handle.
Also "madara and kurama couldn't do shit to hashirama" is completely false as their fight was pretty even until the end, and hashirama is deemed to have died due to the effects that battle had on him.
From a writing perspective I have to agree they're around the same level considering they died almost the same time. The answer to who would win isn't meant to be. Neither would win nor lose. They'd both die or walk away. It's a fight never meant to happen. Kishimoto wanted everyone to compare them and put their skills against each other. These two characters being talked about this long after is proof the writer knew how to make characters that can withstand time and become legends.

The Itachi theory of not wanting to kill major members of the leaf holds pretty true. Especially when you consider all the factors of the encounters.
1. Itachi could have easily killed Kakashi with Tsukuyomi. Its shown in the Itachi light novels, which are confirmed canon, that he can kill with it if he wants. Even Kakashi wonders why he didn't.
2. He could have easily killed Asuma and Kurenai and not only chose not to but told them he didn't want to and said please.
3. We later learn that Orochimaru got absolutely folded by Itachi with just genjustu. This is a guy who was boxing 4 tails kyubi cloaked Naruto without his arms to a stand still and new body rejecting him. He would have lost had it continued but Jiraiya got a whole scar being caught off guard and saying it nearly killed him.
5. The final nail in the coffin is Itachi boxing with KCM Naruto and going on to defeat sage Kabuto. While protecting his brother and unable to kill Kabuto so he can get him to release the Edo Tensei.

@@chadkoehn6432 only reason itachi "died" was because he needed to make sure kabuto was alive to give info on edo tensei and was used his indestructible body to do so. and kabuto fought in a cave which limited the use of susano down to a rib cage. literally one toska blade could of let itachi kill kabuto but he chose a small dark cave on purpose. if itachi just had to kill kabuto he would of done so fairly easily.

If you look back Edo itachi actually did pretty well against Edo Nagato. People really forget that itachi wasnt truly on the side of the akatski. i think what itachi said to kisame was His way of Protecting the Leaf. Even Kisame had faith itachi had the best chance. Itachi was stategically Evading these fights to protect people.
Exactly and that leads me to believe that what itachi said is only half true. Jaraiya could easily beat Kisame with nature energy,but itachi would also lose that battle only because of his declining health. Plus his main goal was to eradicate the akatski from the inside to protect the leaf. Killing leaf ninja would rapidly decline his health and also would be detrimental to his end goal so the smart play would be to avoid unnecessary confrontation.

a lot of people underestimate how strong jiraiya really was. mans definitely the strongest out of him tsunade and orochimaru. and taught minato, naruto & nagato everything they knew, and how to master there special technique. he was on a whole nother level. keep in mind also jiraiya was offered hokage so many times it’s hard to count, but he never wanted it. to him he didn’t need the title to have shinobi fear him or not want to battle him.
He did take on pain himself, even though it cost him his life. It is still impressive
Deep in enemy territory, with absolutely no intelligence. He still managed to figure out how they were all puppets and gave his life to confirm it/send out what he gathered
if Jiraiya had the full picture/information Pain would of probably fallen to Jiraiya as well

Because orochimaru said "Itachi is stronger than me". We know Orochimaru and Jiraya are probably the same level, or almost the same level. So If itachi is stronger than orochimaru, he is stronger than Jiraya.

With the Yata Mirror and the Totsuka Blade ?

Itachi is the definition of Aura.
Itachi did not fear him. He didn't want to fight anyone from the leaf to the death. His goal was to protect it and Sasuke. He knew that killing the heavy hitters of the leaf would bring danger to the leaf. He also knew who Kisame was and shark boy over here was ready to kill anyone in his way even Itachi himself and that would cause major issues.
And no I'm not saying that Percy sage isn't busted as all hell but please stop underestimating the second smartest ninja in leaf village history.

Itachi knew he’d take jiraiya but kisame would indefinitely lose. Kisame dying would make the other akatsuki question him. He needed to remain under the radar as long as he could so that he could keep supplying 3rd with info.

If you beleive this, then you aren't looking deep enough into Itachi's character. Itachi did not fear Jiraya. He didn't want to fight him because he's a spy for the Hidden Leaf. In an actual battle, Itachi solos Jiraya. His chatacter was literally designed to be unbeatable with legendary weapons in his susanoo that can seal any threat or counter any jutsu. On top of that he has Shisui's eye, which possesses one of the strongest genjutsus in the Naruto universe.
Itachi didn't want to kill jiraya so he didnt fight him as Itachi is shadow hokage.
