    You really make it easier to understand. I love the way that you explain things. And thank you for your prompt reply to my earlier question.

      Thank you. My style of presentation is natural, not contrived and I'd like to think that it's a good alternative to fast talking, sell you something, click bait.

      I hope it's entertaining because it's minimally instructive. It just seemed like fun to mix show and tell with some tutorial. Thank you for watching.

      The large elements that you create with hybrid aluminum bridge plates, modified bracing patterns and the like are very instructive but just in a more abstract way for most. Thanks again. I can't wait to hear the result.

    Very enjoyable and informative. Thanks, Kevin. Btw I write secret messages to the future inside guitars too sometimes, hoping maybe somebody gets a laugh.

    Thank you again. It is the 1st time I have seen the top glued down with go bars. I always see braces that way, and then everyone uses spool clamps, cam clamps, bar clamps and c clamps. I could have saved a lot of time not making 40 spool clamps. (LOL)

    • @thepragmaticluthier
      @thepragmaticluthier  8 месяцев назад

      Using spool clamps is a good way to do the job also. I think your time was well spent and those clamps will have other uses as well.

    I've used elastic banding (Irving Sloan) and a work board, but this is very nice.

    • @thepragmaticluthier
      @thepragmaticluthier  8 месяцев назад

      I used to use nearly the same technique, with banding made from truck tire inner tubes. Properly cut, a tube from a 20 inch tire can easily yield over 100 feet of strip; pain in the rear to make though.

    Thanks for the great content. For the initial part of the marking and fitting why not have top top facing down and the place the body on the top. That way you wouldn’t need to use the mirror to see your centerlines and you cold see what you are marking.

    • @thepragmaticluthier
      @thepragmaticluthier  8 месяцев назад

      Proceeding as you suggest would have the weight of mold on the top; as I see it, difficult to manipulate. Your suggestion would work. I would be reluctant to employ the technique.

    I'm just curious why some luthiers use go-bars and some clamps gluing the top on as well as braces. Are there any pro's and con's to each method or it's just personal preference and tradition? Thank you for your great content. The only thing that scares me: too much common sence for youtube 🤣

    • @thepragmaticluthier
      @thepragmaticluthier  8 месяцев назад

      I think the pros and cons would amount to cost, convenience, availability of equipment, or how comfortable a person is with the technique they use. With respect to effectiveness or quality of results, I think any of the methods in use get equal results. I like the last part of your comment.

    Where do you get your gobars

    • @thepragmaticluthier
      @thepragmaticluthier  8 месяцев назад +1

      I buy 6 foot lengths of 3/16" fiberglass rod and rubber tips from a sailing supply company, woodwinds.com. It's MUCH cheaper than buying them from any luthiers' supply company.
