    Best video yet for this job. I have a Tahoe with Bose premium sound. I have the same harness you demonstrated. My dilema is after taking out the factory radio there are 4 female receptacles and they look very similar. I am ready to install and dont know which aftermarket plug goes where. I will study the pins and see if I can match them up.

Also I have aftermarket speakers as well to install can still use aftermarket head unit with nose amp amd the pioneer speakers ? Or will I need run wires to doors ? And last is there a way to retain factory mic and not have to hook up the one that came with deck ?

    I have a question...i recently installed the Kenwood ddx9707s into my 06 GMC yukon denali with the Bose digital amplified system. I have a rear seat entertainment that came factory with my truck. Now i used the rp5-gm11 harness but my rear speakers only play as front speakers and become silent when i use the fader to the rear speakers. I have everything hooked up the same way you explained it in here but can't figure why they wont play separately from the front. Until i read the fader doesn't work with digital amplified systems using this harness. Now my question is..is there another harness that has that feature cause it sounds like I'm missing out on sound with my rear speakers not playing independent from the front speakers. My apologies for being so long..

      Also did you use the 3.5 Jack or did you have to splice the swc key?

    • @NickBlommel

      @@flyhog8574 If I can remember correctly the RP5 maintains all OnStar capabilities so you cannot reassign the VR button. I do believe that if you use the RP4 instead it will deactivate OnStar completely and I think you can reassign the VR button that way.
      I kind of with I used the RP4 because I have no use for OnStar, but oh well. Hope this helps.

    Can you leave the chime module off

  • @gregpruitt1647
    @gregpruitt1647 5 лет назад +2

    Excellent video. In the video you said the module allowed the use of factory XM radio. The customer is installing an aftermarket head unit. I did not see you install one of those XM radio modules. The XM radio module is required for am XM ready head unit, right? Did you install an XM radio module in this installation?

      G P after looking a bit more into it I'm thinking you don't need the module to retain xm through aftermarket head unit, the rp5-gm31 should retain the xm radio as long as the radio says xm or satellite radio ready

    • @gregpruitt1647
      @gregpruitt1647 5 лет назад

      I have not purchased a compatible head unit. But, for an XM account to use a head unit, account ID information needs to be entered into the head unit. This would suggest there is an interface where this information can be entered.

    • @kurtismonasterski9644
      @kurtismonasterski9644 5 лет назад

      G P if your new unit is not xm/satellite radio ready then you will most likely need an adapter interface, what is the brand of unit and what vehicle are you installing it on ? I will find out what you need. Also I'm going to be installing mine myself in about a week I'm just waiting for the micro bypass to come in the mail and I will be ready for install, I will let you know if my install on the xm ready radio head unit works broski

      +swarren925 the XM is located in the back of the car, drives side behind the door motor. We use a Sat1 and a 20" extension from Amazon. The PAC is preprogrammed for a basic use. We were doing CarPlay so we did a custom program.

      poohfin69 I switched my radio from a JVC to Pioneer and had the same problem. The resolution for me was to disconnect all vehicle harness connections from the rp5gm31, change the setting dial from 7 to 6 and back to 7, plugged everything back into the rp5gm31 and it worked. Ensure you have the dial set to the correct number before you connect it to your stereo. Depending on the radio also ensure the 3.5mm cable is plugged into the w/r hole and not AUX. Hope this help.

    so the brown wire is conected to wich wire to,the one you cut where that got to

    • @FiveStarCarStereoInc
      @FiveStarCarStereoInc  5 лет назад +1

      The brown goes to the mute wire on the radio( if it has one). Pioneer uses a yellow black wire. If you cut the wire and do not connect it to anything, onstar will just talk over your radio. The radio will not turn off though, which is nice.

      Did you connect the power wire from the camera to your reverse light? It must be connected to the hot wire of your reverse light. The same wire on the front must be connected to the trigger wire (back or reverse wire)of your aftermarket radio.
