Preserving the history of PlayStation
About:
The PlayStation Museum collects, studies, and interprets the hardware, video games, design, and all related materials regarding the history of the original Sony PlayStation game console. The PlayStation Museum is the longest-running active web resource dedicated solely to preserving the history of PlayStation.
On-line web resource
Beyond collecting and preserving such materials, the PlayStation Museum is a highly interactive, media-based educational web resource devoted to Sony PlayStation history.
Preserving the history of the games industry
Sony forever changed the video gaming landscape with the launch of the PlayStation. Without the support of game developers, the Sony PlayStation brand would not have been the success that it is. The PlayStation Museum strives to recognize the efforts, creative designs, and history of Sony PlayStation game developers.
Through social media channels, the PlayStation Museum promotes current and past developer projects.
The PlayStation Museum has garnered support from developers and publishers worldwide with the same goal of preserving the history of PlayStation game development. Developers, former or current, include 989 Studios, Acclaim, Accolade, Activision, Argonaut, Blue Sky, Capcom, CAPS, Electronic Arts, Gray Matter, GT Interactive, Infogrames, Namco, Naughty Dog, Neversoft, Player 1, Psygnosis, Realtime Associates, Runecraft, SCE Worldwide Studios, Sony Interactive Studios America, Squaresoft, Universal Studios Interactive, Viacom New Media, Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Visual Concepts, and more.
Support the PlayStation Museum with word of mouth
The PlayStation Museum relies heavily on word of mouth within the game development community to support the efforts of historical game preservation. If you were a developer of Sony PlayStation games and would like to participate in documenting your experiences with Sony's machine or know someone who would be interested, please contact the PlayStation Museum today.
The PlayStation Museum works and shares knowledge with the International Center for the History of Electronic Games’ eGameRevolution exhibit. The PlayStation Museum worked closely with the International Center for the History of Electronic Games and the Strong National Museum of Play to display an exhibit dedicated to PlayStation game development with the assistance of former developers from Sony Imagesoft. This exhibit encourages people to learn and understand the history of PlayStation game development.
The future
The PlayStation Museum seeks to ensure that present and future generations can explore the history of PlayStation, understand how Sony PlayStation began and evolved, appreciate who played what roles in that evolution, and grasp the impact that Sony PlayStation had on society. The PlayStation Museum actively supports the efforts of the Strong National Museum of Play.
Endorsements:
“Things move so fast in the game industry that developers are always in danger of forgetting their roots. Thanks to the PlayStation Museum and other indie efforts to preserve our history, new generations of developers can learn from the experience of the ones who came before… and old gamers can enjoy reminiscing, too. Good work, guys.”
Ernest Adams, founder of the International Game Developers’ Association Игры
This is terrific! Thank you for posting this upscaled version. I know it’s not PlayStation, but would you by chance have/be able to do the same for the Dreamcast G4 Icons episode? Bernie Stolar is featured in both. Please let me know. Thanks!
I don’t have the Dreamcast version, but if you find it, please past a link here. I haven’t watched it. Bernie was such a nice guy but he had his quirks while at Sony.
@@Jord9622 Excellent! +1

@@Jord9622 some really interesting insights there. Seems like you know your stuff!
@@time4tea99 Thanks :)
Lmao the music playing makes it seem like some psycho maniac killer story, but thanks to PlayStation I have great love for this industry and hobby of gaming, it's truly one of the loves of my life.
*Long Live PlayStation Nation Forever!*
I love the music and sound effects! It reminds me of the original Halloween movie…very suspenseful.
Ken Kutaragi rulz. I wish someone would make a “Console wars” style documentary about the Playstation / Nintendo war.
Be sure to check out the History Channel’s Toys that built America!
There are some very good books on the history of that, if your interested in more information on the historic relationship, betrayal and gigantic success of PlayStation
@@mutalix Agreed. I would highly recommend Steven L. Kent's The Ultimate History of Video Games series.
@@Jord9622 Perfect
Good old G4 Icons. That editing style is cheesy but also brings a smile to my face
norio ohga is the 🐐for approving the playstation project 📿🙏
❤
Liking this!
Norio Ohga is now playing PS5 up there... 😇
Here we are in 2022 and PlayStation is still alive and dunking on the competition. 🇯🇵👊🏻💪🏻
Haters get at me! ☝🏻
I Love All PlayStation Home Console
The creation of Playstation is literally Frankenstein lmao
Nintendo’s worst nightmare
The upscale done here makes everything look like a Pastel Filter has been applied which for me is an eyesore. Sorry.
I know what you mean. On the other hand some parts of very crisp. AI upscaling still needs some work.
Is There Anyone Between the Ages of 20 to 50 Making A RUclips Channel About the Future of PlayStation Games?
@13:00 Sony might want to hide this from the FTC
Where have you been?
Thank you Nintendo if it wasn't for your backstabbing actions to Sony the PlayStation we all know and love today wouldn't exist hell of a karma story huh they created there biggest competition and I love both companies but it's always been a funny and interesting tale to me.
You're right except that 'karma' doesn't exist.
Sony needs to thank Nintendo for alot of things. The amount of things Sony copied Nintendo for is an insane list.
Karma will hit Sony for stealing all the 3rd party support when MS start buying up the industry.
Audio is soft, making commercials very loud. Byond that, in my opinion, GFX are cheesy and poor. For example, the story mentions that Sony supplied the audio chip to the SNES, and a pic showing part of the SNES mobo, with the chip, flies around the screen, but it never stops moving, and is only at max size instantaneously, so it's hard to figure spot which chip is the sony. Repeated shots of the PS and eqp appear, in what appears to be neg color: why??? Likewise it shows something that looks black, e.g., 3:30, 7:51, but I cannot make out visually what it is. 8:14 and following is a shot of a PS(1) that is very dark and hard to make out (why???). Thgrought, many shots of the interviewees bouncy, contrasty, neg-colored shot of the interviewees are cut to: why??? Is the narrative not good enough to stand on its own? This it what I mean by cheesy, poor animations using effects just for the effects sake. Music I think is too loud relative to dialogue, and is needlelly intense. I think they story would be just fine with no score at all during the dialogue.
