    Beautifully done, John! I really enjoy your choice of floral material as well as greens. I smiled when you made some comment about having "more than enough" greens, for it is a "fault" of mine to always have more than I need. Rather too much than too little. A spray like this is, indeed, a good one to have under your fingers as the shape comes in very handy on many occasions. As always, thanks for your talent, your creativity, and imagination. Best!

      @@FlowerJoos Yes, I was impressed because the callas were sprayed grey to make it look aged. Plus the roses were a dark burgundy. It was definitely professionally done, the whole bar was decorated and things that the black light on them. The bars in West Hollywood used to go all out with decorations. I suppose decorations can be called a business expense and they save on taxes.

    I like how you say"The best of both worlds". This design, like most of the designs you make, using commercial and garden materials, always looks fresh, especially since an all commercial product looks less natural and in my opinion, less appealing and less interesting. I really like how you add the practicality of choosing some "found" materials, lowering the cost of a strictly commercial bouquet or design, especially if you are doing it for yourself or a friend. Thank you John!

    • @FlowerJoos

      Thank you Lynne! 🌼 you are right - a combination of materials gives a good result, and commercial only has a specific look - same as garden only I suppose 😀

    Its absolutely beautiful. I watch all your videos and learn so much. I do not see how you would place this particular arrangement through. Would it lay flat? Thanks for teaching great designs.

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  2 года назад

      Thank you 😊 yes, here we tend to use these for sympathy designs and they would be laid flat - so viewed from above really.
      In other countries they can be mounted on standing frames which changes the angle of view.
      But these can also be used in wedding and event work - maybe with a less formal feel, and can be attached to walls or structures in combination with garlands even . 🌼🌻

    John, Thank you so much for these videos. Here's my question. I see You Tubers who may be small flower farms selling flowers to local florists. But when the camera goes close up on the blooms, you can see bugs crawling in and out of the petals/blooms. Does the grower dip them in a solution before they deliver? Or does the florist do something to flowers to ensure no bugs before making arrangements? Thanks.

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  2 года назад

      Thank you so much! This is a more recent thing, local production and one of the main selling points is that they are chemical free. So that means pests and bugs may be on the products. So a good shake can work, or leaving the flowers to sit and hope the bugs fly off. You could spray with insect killer - but that is adding chemicals.
      Dip solutions tend to help vase life rather than bug removal .
      Wholesaler flowers will be pest free 99% of the time - but that’s because they are grown in very protected environments and the flowers will be sprayed or the glasshouse treated with various anti bug treatments ( like sticky traps ).
      So it’s really just part of the course if using these flowers - you have less miles, no chemicals but maybe a bug or so! 🌼🙋🏼‍♂️

      Thanks, John. Might you do a video for those of us who are trying to start growing some things to put in our flower arrangements. It's so cost effective to pick your foliage or your blooms from your yard. I'm trying to get started doing a flower business from home. Got any tips on getting ruscus, eucalyptus, or other greenery growing? How about shrubs that have blooms we could add to our arrangements? Thanks so much.

    Could you please tell me what brand you think is best for flower food to make them last?

    • @FlowerJoos
      @FlowerJoos  2 года назад +1

      Oh, I never used a particular one for the sachets but in the shop we used the chrysal flower food in the water and it really helped. So a big drum of liquid food attached to the water tap. There was a noticeable difference but there was a cost to it, so you need to weigh that up. 😀
