To think that some ex-cardboard cutout caused so much trouble just by having a meltdown. Always figured that painting in the kitchen was home. Sort of obvious considering the icon shown at the start of the game. Still, though, I love seeing this rendition of the story you're piecing together. It's easy to forget while playing that Hat Kid is just some little kid in space away from home who can't get back. Homesickness seems like a reasonable thing to feel, especially when we tack on the extra layer of responsibility that Tim put on her to fix time.
I made so many excited gasps while watching this that my family in the other room came to ask me if I was okay. Shane, this is AMAZING and I'm shaking in anticipation for the next installment!!
I'm glad you're showing us of what could of been; once again these ideas you had were breathtaking and I'm sure a lot of us are grateful that you're showing them off.
Shane, I've always been a big fan of your work. Your style and the way you can breathe emotion into what you work on really is beautiful. These Hat in Time animatics however are probably some of my favorites from you. Something about how you reinterpret and play with the aspects of A Hat in Time just brings a smile to my face. It makes me feel more confident about my own work and the things I want to make.
Well I'm deeply grateful to know I have a fan such as yourself out there. And more than that, I'm grateful things such as this can help give you confidence in your own endeavors. That's the most I could ever hope to accomplish in this life. :)
The surprises just keep piling up! I adore this series and the lore it reveals. It really reminds me of TV shows like Infinity Train and Gravity Falls, kid's series with darker themes. I'd love to see where this continues to head. Hat Kid is a lot more defined here. In-game she's mostly portrayed as a bubbly, eccentric sociopath. Peck, she crashed a ship and put people into serious danger just to reach a Time Piece. I wonder if that Hat Kid is still the same Hat Kid that I'm seeing here. The more I see, the more I begin to wish all of this was its own, condensed story. It stands quite well on its own.
Early on in the development of each chapter, idea suggestions and concepts were encouraged for everyone in the team to contribute. All the animatics on this channel are based off ideas I suggested, and others that were withheld following the initial rejections. Consider it an alternate universe or glorified Fanwork that just explores the building blocks of the ideas I hoped for initially on the project.
