What made Deion Sanders so great was, outside of his natural athleticism, Olympic track speed and swagger, his natural instinct, ive yet to see another CB with his instinct. The man was a ball hawk, he was always afound the ball even if the QB went to the opposite side, Deion was already breaking to that side, by the time that QB chose his receiver. So glad i grew up in this era of NFL/ NCAA Football. Deion, Bo, Barry, Emmett, Troy, Jerry, Elway, Marino, Lott, Cunningham, Favre, Montana, Young, Tim Brown, The Sharpes, Thurman, Kelly etc.....i mean damn what an era.

Both could have played in the nba for sure. In high school they reminded us of Jordan. Mike was a killer basketball player at st Thomas High school. One time I was with him at st Thomas. And he was 16 years old and I was 14. He jumped straight off of the vertical and dunked three times in a row. Without putting the ball down. He had some serious vertical jump.

Um...no. Deion Sanders [512 tackles (254 solo tackles), 20 tackles for loss, 53 interceptions, 1331 interception return yards, 9 interception return TDs], Rod Woodson [1158 tackles (530 solo tackles), 10 tackles for loss, 71 interceptions, 1483 interception return yards, 12 interception return TDS], Dick Lane [ 68 interceptions, 1207 interception return yards, 5 interception return TDs], Ronde Barber [1251 tackles (1044 solo tackles), 88 tackles for loss ***only player in NFL history with 30 interceptions and 30 sacks***, 47 interceptions, 923 interception return yards, 8 interception return touchdowns]. These are just a few players that can make a claim to being greater than Deion Sanders at the cornerback position. Charles Woodson, Ed Reed, Ronnie Lott, Mel Blount, Everson Walls, Lem Barney, Paul Krause, Aeneas Williams, Champ Bailey, and Mel Renfro all have legitimate claims to being better than Deion Sanders too. Flash and substance are two different things and making interceptions is only half the job of a corner back. Sanders was a lousy run defender and every single one of the players that I listed is a better tackler and better against the run that Deion Sanders and many of them are superior pass defenders too. Quit believing that ESPN tells you to believe and learn to make an objective independent decision on your own.

Deion Sanders singlehandedly made cornerback a glamor position. Before Deion, most of the slim-built boys in the hood wanted to play running back, quarterback or receiver because those were the positions that received the most attention. Then Deion came along, and black boys wanted to play corner and wanted to have the impact of a Deion, including my son.
He was truly electrifying on the field and shifted into a gear other players simply did not have.
As for Deion not wanting to tackle, my question is ... tell me the last time he missed a tackle that resulted in the other team winning?
    Yeah, that's what I thought.

He turned out to be such a great guy too. They say there isn't one former or current player who talks to more young people than "Prime." Pretty sure he might even fund a private school, where he is a volunteer football coach IN TEXAS (~70 hrs work per week) but check me on the details. Regardless, the guy does great work in the community, and he is a real influence in so many young lives. And I like him because he advocates for white players lol Julian Edelman, Troy Apke, etc.
