In childhood we also used similar type of writing slate @Rs.10 found in _Mela_ . And for clearing the writing you have to lift up the paper. Here some electric current passes to clear the writing. There is a safety lock switch in back side of tablet.. check if you’ve switched it on .. if turned on, the delete uthin will not work ..

Battery is used only when you press erase button.. in my case battery lasted for more then 1 year..
