I don't even mind the absence of the street parade that the song embodies but the concept was flat and did nothing for the song. It just isn't good enough for such a meaningful song. Same thing with Differentology that song was a behemoth and sadly the video just never delivered.
A better concept world have been seeing the excitement & buzz of people in various parts of the world anticipating and traveling to the event that is carnival, focus on 3 or 4 different ppl, leaving the office overseas, at home packing, heading to the airport, touching down in T&T, picking up costumes & trying them on, final shot would be all 3 or 4 meeting just before they run off to meet the band. All this time Fay in abt 2/3 of the shots posing as different professionals assisting them while on the way to their destination.
That take me 5 mins to come up with... they shoulda fire that person the minute they came with that crap.
If all yuh see my idea out there, ah want muh royalties eh....lol.
The chorus is taken from a song called Only In My Dream by Debbie Gibson. The original song is from 1987

I cant understand why our Fay would put this out. She is very creative. When I look at the videos of her contemporaries like Machel Montano. ..you can see the connection between story and song and he is quite consistent, not to mention successful. Here we see a video which is blatantly appealing to a European audience without any regard for the spirit of the song. Dont get me wrong, I sympathize with her intentions. .but Europeans have spirit and heart just like us! They too can feel the rhythm and intent of the song...and would naturally want to partake of it. They who are drawn to this song wish to partake of the Caribbean essence...a more interesting concept would have been to start in snow and have the song seemingly transform the environment into summer...the flowers blooming at her very command with the denizens joining her "on the road" of a transformed landscape..

Her voice is beautiful, no the video doesn't do her justice but scenes are beautiful and can take you to another level of life in general
I like how is just you and the music. No over do ,no whining, no nakedness. This is just perfection. Reminds me of the video on my way. Now just waiting on garlin own and we have a perfect trio.

The problem isn't even that it has nothing to do with Trinidad or Carnival. It's good to see something different once in a while. The problem is that it's just downright boring.

Huge fan of your work. Loved the scenery and back ground for the beginning of the song "a new day's dawning" showing a different world. Signifying soca heading to a new level, landscape , audience. That part was great. But the rest of it has no entertainment or artistic value. Their is no journey or story line and the song is too beautifully written to be given that in justice. If I were you I would continue the story with zombies emerging from the story ...being razed from the dead or "awoken " her running ... And the n challenging them with the power of her music. Becoming the snow queen and winning them over. Dance choreography and a few cut scenes with similar concepts of "razing" and this video will be a great success. Just call this one a beta tester and announce that the real one will be released soon. 😎

Now Aunty Fay Ann I have always supported you from beginning till now yes I would have love to see the customs, the bands on the road like carnival Monday and Tuesday but I still applauded your interesting video and yes it is different because given the song and the lyrics we all expected something to do with our culture. But I still appreciate the video because you look beautiful as always. And finally "You don’t have to do things perfectly for them to be meaningful and worthwhile. I understand the need to not wanting a carnival video. I actually agree with that. However this video is missing something...... A story line. The story don't have to be carnival related, it could be anything. The running in the snow is baffling. The same way ppl say carnival videos don't connect to international folks, how does running in the snow connect? Miss me with that BS. The video sucks.

I was tired and everyone was like no we r going straight into carnival and so we did and while on the road i wqs always pressured ( not in abad way) to get up n keep going and it kept me driving to parktake in all the festivities that were taking place... This is how i pictured the video to be... Wake up and show me something... So im thinking wake up and dont be a downer lets go lets go

The video looks like she should have been singing "Hello" by Adele! Great song! Quality of the shots in the video also great! Quality of video related to the song, epic fail! Didn't need a carnival scene but definitely needed the people who she wanted to wake up and meet her on the road! This song is soooo uplifting, yet it's her in some lonely wilderness with just her child?! Can't make the connection!

I do understand what you are trying to do setting the trend and you are great leaders keep it up. But we are trini's so some backup dancers we great coreography to mix both worlds may have been likeable to those who don't think outside the box. But I loved what u doing keep it up. Let's hear what they sat when u pile up the awards nice work.

Good song, i don't mind the snow. I like the landscape, good composition, lighting, But may need a extreme sport in that video. Something like Snowboarding or some action, ice skating, hockey, something hyper... Fill with more or something... That simplicity and the weather is more for sad a song.

The video... Guess she is trying to be different... None of the usual wuking up... When it first started I was like "Oh this should be interesting- judging from the setting"... I find her dress funeral-like and very depressing... Found the video boring as she wasn't doing much. If it was her alone with some dance moves at least... I applaud her for being different but I don't find this attempt successful.

Excellent job Mrs. Lyons. Its about time someone tries to awaken the masses of TT consciously. In nature, the dark is always before the light, cold before warmth and all humans exist relative to the basic law. We reflect where we are. the message of the song to me is symbolic of the Phoenix. Awakening. Rebirth.

The message is this; Night and darkness is being razed to bring forth a new dawn. Simple minds would not easily connect the content/message of the song to its rendition in the video.

I am not understanding the connection between the video and the song. Did Fay Ann just watch Frozen and got inspired? The song is high tempo and phenomenal and then we have this slow paced video. I felt like I was trying to speed a Lamborghini in peak hour traffic! I hope she does a Trini video with the expected energy this song has been known for delivering at parties and fetes in Trinidad and across the world!

Fans Mindset are on what is being shared with them which is the product (the Song). The creator of such product is also in a zone when their work is portrayed. music is an art where people express themselves and also to share meaningful msg . so it has purpose. the one who receives the msg will have their own interpretation. what i know is we are not bound in one place where we cannot share meaningful things with people who need it. the soca fans only interest is in what they look forward to every time the season come around. music for the occasion that make them do what they normally do. So anytime you give them something that seem unusual there is always some disappointment. on the other hand this song may also have another purpose and mean something to someone somewhere. We should not look at Fay Ann as just a Soca Artist/ Performer because its what the fans use to. i see it as Growth in the artist and showing that she is capable of doing Bigger and greater things outside of the norm. We dont get everything right every time and we dont please everybody every time. there are fans and there are supporters. i am a Fan of her soca music and i am a supporter of her Art . so i understand the feters what u saying u want to see fete because u hear hands in the air . if u dont see it in the video listen to the other lyrics in the song and look at the video again closely and understand beyond what u see
