No lie. I smelled it. I was instantly reminded of cleaning my home. It smells like my bleached soaked mop. I am not saying that as a put down, it literally smelled the same. That association was off-putting. Aside, I just think it is so brash, unrefined and a bit of a mess. Not for me. It's like they put lavender in, and linalool on top of coranol. Which is like putting salt on anchovies, too much salt! So you get this pungent, brash bitterness.

The fact that entire communities are based around “batch chasing” because their quality has dropped so significantly over the years tells you everything you need to know about the direction of this brand
I would add the prevelance of clones to Creed's resume of failure. If not for Creed's issues with quality control I question if clones would be as popular as they are these days. Once people realized Creed's best offerings could be copied such that the quality was either matched or even surpassed and all for a far cheaper price tag, that just opened the flood gates.

Creed has been phoning it in for quite a while now. Back in the mid 90s, when I was a student, I went into Harrods one day to buy myself a fragrance (hey, I was trying to impress a girl) and ended up buying Creed Erolfa. I knew absolutely nothing about fragrance, and it was a ludicrously expensive purchase for a student, but I loved it. It was amazing. It was this amazingly fresh, natural-smelling scent that also had great performance. I wore it as my signature scent for quite a while. Fast forward a few years and I buy another bottle, from Selfridges this time. I get it home and spray. It was absolutely bloody unrecognisable. It was thin-smelling and astringent. It had none of that amazing natural freshness of what I bought back in the 90s. It was like a bad cover version of 90s Erolfa. The sheer arrogance of Creed to behave this way is breathtaking. That they actually think they can pass off piss-poor facsimiles of their fragrances and no one will care. I'm done with Creed.
@@paulwoolgar5384 Guess it's a matter of opinion. I have my full bottle of EROLFA in now and it's fantastic too. Same completely natural, deep, rich ambergris-dominant oceanic smell. Best true aquatic/oceanic scent ever.
This is what I like best about this channel: honest criticism of the way some companies in the fragrance industry behave. It's refreshing. So many reviewers are too frightened to say anything critical. Forget the top lists, this is where this channel stands out and has something new and relevant to say.
I agree. He gets about as many views as Chaos despite the disparity in subscribers, but George actually makes unique and original content instead of shitting out most complimented videos.
My thought with Creed is they fell in love with their ‘history’ and ‘lineage’. Every time they talk about it, it gets more prestigious and ancient. Like the buddy who’s stories get embellished every time. ‘Did you know that Abraham Creed scented Moses’s robes when he parted the Red Sea?’ Then they realized just how much money they could make by cutting corners. I will seek election on this platform.

It's that exclusivity that they chase. When a dacent designer fragrance gets discontinued, like Gucci Pour Homme II, it's suddenly the holy grail of fragrances and prices are astronomical. The first bottle of MI I ever bought, as soon as I sprayed it on, the smell initially was like freshly cut rose stems which transitioned into a beautiful salty slightly fruity floral fragrance that on me lasts 9 hours. I have 2 bottles from 2016 left and I am afraid to try the new Creed formulation of MI. This is so funny to watch now, once we all know the Olivier Creed is an "editeur de Parfum" like Frederic Malle. Pierre Bourdon did most of the scents and Julien Rasquinet :) Nice video anyway, direct sub.

Same here. Anyone buying Creed at full price is doing it wrong. I just don’t understand why any reviewer would give more than a passing mention to the full MSRP, let alone basing a review on it. Not super helpful. Anyway, I like the scent. It is perfect for post night time shower. More importantly, my wife really likes it.
Well for one thing, Creed has been sold recently to “BlackRock Long Term Private Capital and Javier Ferrán, the Spanish businessman and chairman of Diageo.”(Diageo makes spirits and beer.) Which doesn’t necessarily mean things will change drastically…. just that their long term strategy for Creed may be of greater interest to some of us. ;)

You know you’re my favorite reviewer, right? If not, now you do 😉. Your sense of humor is right in line with mine, your creativity is such a gift, it’s so apparent in everything you make. I’m waiting with bated breath for the Aventus video. If it’s anything like the Zoologist T. Rex video (a comedic masterpiece, IMHO, I showed it to so many of my friends, none of which give two shits about frags, yet they dug the video), you just might make this terrifyingly shitty, bizarro world of a year slightly better for those of us in the States, (the ones who rationally follow science and watching our country crumble before our eyes) even if it’s only for 45 minutes.
And now for something different, Del-Mar and Seychelles are nice, there is a sharp note in Ultimate I don't care for, but it smells good on others. I did wonder what VC smelled like, but not enough to buy it.
Weird my bottle of Creed Viking lasts 5 hrs on me. I love it! Not sure what batch it is though. Though I got off the grey market after I came from the Creed store to try.
Its weird how everyone echoes others words (reading this comment section) has anyone even tried VC? I had a sample of this, fancied it quite a bit. Bought Baldessarini Ultimate based on this video - while it is a nice fragrance, nowhere near VC and to be honest completely different vibe. They are so different that even non-fragheads can distinct them, so not uncanny. Id even say they're aimed at completely different seasons where Baldessarini Id wear in cold weather Id wear VC in warm weather. I do like The Fragrance Apprentice quite a bit but feel like this was unnecessary harsh and even ...false.
After a few while in the fragrances games. Now I don't chase over brand names anymore. Now lots of middle eastern fragrances rises up their game. They're high quality, lasts longer and bang for bucks. And their bottles too. Gave out a very luxurious royalty vibes.
100% agree with this video…. I own baldessarini ultimate in my collection and went to the fragrance counter in John Lewis to try Creed Viking Cologne and got in a very heated battle of words when the young lady scoffed at me for saying baldessarini ultimate was better….
I love Baldessarini Ultimate (and Baldessarini Concentree is one of my staple "office fragrances"). Only downside is that it only lasts 5 hours or so - but then apparently Creed Viking even shorter for ten times the price.
Save for a few exceptions here and there, I only buy vintage now. It’s a situation that’s annoying even at the best of times, but at least you get very clear about what you want and how you’re spending money.
George, I dont know what got you uploading like this, but I'm loving this. Btw what's your opinion on the Profumo and Spicebomb extreme discontinuations, believe it true or bluff?
Well, I purchased Baldessarini Ultimate and it just shipped to my house. I won’t be able to smell it until this Thursday but my family seems to think it’s decent.
I hope creed is listening to you.. you're actually helping them out.. nice review.. I will give Baldassani ultimate a try and see what happens.. thankx bro..
i agree with your opinion, i would never buy creed again with the current prices and the juice so week ...i would buy instead armaf(waiting hones for a clone of viking and royal oud) and the rest of the money buying parfums de marly !!!
Thank you for the video! These were my thoughts exactly! My wife and I stopped by a Dillard's a month or so ago to check out the fragrances and was met by a Creed saleswoman advertising the new Viking Cologne. She sprayed it on a tester strip and the first thing that came to my mind was Drakkar Noir, with that barbershop type scent. I'm not sure if it was the batch or due to it being a tester strip, but I couldn't help but laugh a little when I smelled it which I felt terrible for doing in front of the saleswoman and apologized. I do enjoy Drakkar Noir on occasion, but to charge so much for this...yikes; you're right, it is extremely cocky and arrogant. I know its the job of the salesperson, but I'd feel ashamed trying to sell something like this; no wow factor, mediocre, a completely overpriced fragrance. I haven't really seen anyone else mention Viking Cologne smelling like Drakkar Noir, so I could be completely wrong about how it smells on the skin (She offered to spray some on me, but after smelling it, I gently declined). At least Creed still has their precious Aventus to fall back on!
I wonder, in case of Millesime Imperial. Did the fragrance objectively got worse or did we just change over the time? I mean it's been 1994 when it relesed, that's quite a lot of time.
It is a bad fragrance for a bad price

Respect the honesty 👍👍👍 Looks like it only smells AMAZING and super-long lasting to the RUclips reviewers who got a bottle sent to them for FREE. 😂
"I forbid you to buy it." 😂😂😂😂
Its weird how everyone echoes others words (reading this comment section) has anyone even tried VC? I had a sample of this, fancied it quite a bit. Bought Baldessarini Ultimate based on this video - while it is a nice fragrance, nowhere near VC and to be honest completely different vibe. They are so different that even non-fragheads can distinct them, so not uncanny. Id even say they're aimed at completely different seasons where Baldessarini Id wear in cold weather Id wear VC in warm weather. I do like The Fragrance Apprentice quite a bit but feel like this was unnecessary harsh and even ...false.
Great video!
Nice to inform us this way👍👌🙂
Such a shame creed is only seeing money in their costumers, no passion, no innovation anymore
Loving the rate of uploads atm 😎
After a few while in the fragrances games. Now I don't chase over brand names anymore. Now lots of middle eastern fragrances rises up their game. They're high quality, lasts longer and bang for bucks. And their bottles too. Gave out a very luxurious royalty vibes.
What a great video! And also thumbs up for the new sharp look!
Listening while learning. I would be in for a podcast mate.
I cant see those rumours being true as they are best sellers for each respective brand.
Can't find this fragance anywhere.
I have it
Well, I purchased Baldessarini Ultimate and it just shipped to my house. I won’t be able to smell it until this Thursday but my family seems to think it’s decent.
I hope creed is listening to you.. you're actually helping them out.. nice review.. I will give Baldassani ultimate a try and see what happens.. thankx bro..
That Mini MI review in the middle of the video there had me real excited before george realized he was giving away the grand finale 😅.
i agree with your opinion, i would never buy creed again with the current prices and the juice so week ...i would buy instead armaf(waiting hones for a clone of viking and royal oud) and the rest of the money buying parfums de marly !!!
You have any alternatives for Creed viking? I put all my money in stocks so I don't ever have much lol
George, you are my fav. frag-guy! Love your honesty 👍👍👍
This video was bold and I like it keep going.
I wonder, in case of Millesime Imperial.
Did the fragrance objectively got worse or did we just change over the time?
I mean it's been 1994 when it relesed, that's quite a lot of time.
My first Creed, was the original Viking , love it , excited to try this new one, was left completely disappointed
