Feel the same, it is such a massive guitar, not only in size, but also in sound. Several times thinking to trade it in for a more standard explorer (white or black), but then I take it out the case, put it on and just can't part with it. Such a great and quirky looking guitar, really up my alley.

You probably know, but trying lowering the neck pickup a little, particularly on the bass side, which can get rid of some of the "wool". Also, raising the pole pieces can can make the pickup a little brighter. In some guitar/pickup combinations, it doesn't always do a lot, but in, it does a ton. And don't worry if it looks "off".
LOL It's definitely not for everyone. Then again... there are tons of guys who swear by the BC Rich guitars that I think are the most hideous things ever created.

I dont like gibson guitats, but i have to admit that this model of lizzy with that headstock, and in that color particualiry as sooo cool.
