- At the beginning of the 21st century, a visionary team of creators from several mediums in Japan came together to create an incredible series of games, novels, anime and manga set within an MMORPG world, before such stories and online games were common and globally accessible. Known as .hack, it is an incredible series that is often considered a source of origin and inspiration for modern Isekai. How’s it going everyone, I’m Teysind and welcome to my must-try recommendation for .hack//Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine on the PlayStation 2. I really want to thank all of you who have shared your love for .hack and your memories of the series with me over the past several years since the announcement of .hack//G.U. Last Recode. I grew up playing most of these games alone and not knowing if many people out there liked or even knew about the series. Each part was only sold for a brief period of time in my country, you could have almost blinked and missed it! To see how many people there are online all over the world that cherish it and still share their love for the series almost two decades later, it's really incredible to get to celebrate a day for the series each year together :) Take good care everyone, stay safe and HAPPY .HACK DAY! :D

I'm still somewhat new to the series. I played the GU series but never played the first series.
God I’m starting to feel old. .Hack was my jam as a teenager and now it’s been over 20 years since Infection came out. I was the perfect age when .hack first released, 14 and kite was also 14. It was one of the first times I got completely immersed in a game and truly connected to a main character. I also loved how these games each came with a 40 min anime dvd that took place in the real world surrounding the game. It really added another level of immersion for me.
.Hack needs a collection to come out
Got the PS4 compilation last year for a really cheap price! I played these games in one of my friend's house when I was a teenager back in the day. So many memories.

Just saw this video! I miss IMOQ so much. I'm learning unreal for I can do a fan level remake since I was inspired by the team that made the FF9 remake project. Keep up the good work!!!!!
One of my favorite game series of all time. Thank you for this video on this wildly underrated game.
this game series was a mindscrew and was truly original, about a HAUNTED MMO of all things, but it was a lot more than just that, the execution was unfortunate though, making 4 different games was a money-grub move, let's face it I actually had all four games as a kid but stupidly got rid of them.. I thought they were worthless, wow was I naive

really well done video. as much as i love .hack GU games i had a hard time getting into the original 4 but the anime hack sign is great stuff
Funny enough the whole .hack "interface" is actually directly inspired by Final Fantasy 11"s "PlayOnline" interface. It wasn't as big in the west, but in Japan PlayOnliine was a big deal with a mobile experience built in as well. It was like AIM on steroids.

Never played .hack, but looking at its track record. It’s unfortunate that most games/game series don’t get this kind of support nowadays.
Teysind you should check out a youtube channel called Shinta Reviews. He mostly does Japanese TV shows but he has a whole series on the .hack games that ive listened to a few times now. I think youd enjoy them the way you talk about IMOQ. :)

Although the 4 games were really difficult, the boss battles easily took around 15 to 20 minutes to beat😅

I really hope they remaster it. I have the first game in the series, but can't get the other three. Every time I search for them on ebay or amazon, they are selling for way too much money. part four often sells for $250, since it is the climax of the quadrilogy. To quote a famous news interview, "Ain't nobody got money for dat."

I love these games!
I only have Infection, which I got a few years ago, and it was expensive even on its own (something like $80 with the manual and Liminality disc, and Disc 1 is by far the least expensive). Regret not getting one of the others at that same used game store, which is now out of business.

Seriously wish we could get the OG .hack remaster (Xenosaga too, since it's multiple parts and expensive).

too bad i didn't play those four. so i didn't get any content i don't know what it is when those four save data brought into the G.U in PS2

Why you should play it is the easy answer. How you should play it... well.. you can get a ps2 easily. The games however you may need to fork over about $500 to get the games. Or you can get or build a decent pc that can run a ps2 emulator for $800+
I like see dot hack come back but they should let Platinum games do their combat system.it makes me sad to see old games liked never make a comeback.

Just finished IMOQ. I definitely don't think anyone should be playing the original for fun in 2020. The gameplay ages poorly and it's 95% of the game. There's also very little actual storytelling.
I looked into these games but they didn't really look like my cup of tea, heck I don't really like MMO's very much anyways.
Try xenoblade chronicles 1, golden country , xenoblade chronicles 3 and its future redeemed dlc
If we combine our virtual reality devices with .hack franchise, guess what? Profit!!!!
