thank you for reacting to and introducing me to Moses Sumney because listening to his music transported my mind to a whole other galaxy with how good it was. his voice, and the harmonies and instrumentals he uses, are on some other level of ethereal (in contrast, that kingdom hearts reference gave me whiplash). i also loved hearing the little vocal imperfections in some of his tracks! knowing that those bits of imperfection are what he wanted to keep in the final version really made me think about how you emphasize the importance of not sacrificing emotion for the sake of technical perfection, because those moments definitely wouldn't have been the same experience if he decided to re-do them to be technically "cleaner." also, i just really love colors for showcasing so many different artists, mainstream or otherwise, in a way that lets them just viiiiibe with their music, and this stage is no exception to that. it's so much fun watching an artist just be in their element like that.
Babe if you want to wear earrings, wear earrings. There's a point where you realize like oh it's just confident. People wear stuff and it works. It doesn't work if you're anxious abt it, otherwise just find something you like and kill ittttt
This was a really "cool" performance. Btw, I really like you a lot; from the way you break things down, to your respect for and understanding of style and how it relates to technique, and your sense of humor. I stan.
I love the passion you put in every comment and the way your face changes when you start talking about what makes your heart sing. Your reviews are really enlightening every time. ♥️🔥
Hey Sam, I loved this video. You're so genuine in your reactions and are able to articulate every thought of yours so well. I was trying to think about why this video and others might not have done so well right out of the gate. I think for your loyal followers, this is exactly what we want. You break down every little thing for us. However, for your more casual audience, I think this style of video might be overwhelming. Keep in mind I don't want you to change your videos at all. I am just trying to imagine why a video of this caliber would only have 16.5k views with over 600k subscribers. Best of luck with future videos!
Yeah he is a baritone who can sing high... the colour is a baritone but the ability to push the chest forward is closer to a tenor. That is why he bares teeth at the high notes to get that nice timbre - I recognize as I have a very similar sound and it is hard to categorize. It doesn't matter much outside of opera/choir anyway :). I love pop music we get to explore our unique finger print ! Learn so much in these videos...
I'm pretty sure we don't even know what your earlobes look like! But between the Salt Lake City comment, the way you left the earring question just dangling out there, the fact that you didn't edit out your search for "counter tenor", and your overall vibe during this - it's probably my favorite of your videos so far (and you already have some great content).
Yay for championing amazing artists that aren’t currently mainstream! Please analyze Meg Myers singing “Running Up that Hill.” I’ll keep asking (kindly!) until it happens. Thanks always for the awesome commentary and content.
His voice sort of reminds me of Earth Wind and Fire's Philip Bailey's. Both sing sooo well, and they have this tendency to gorgeous falsettos. Philip may not show case it in the record versions, but should you to watch a live performance of 'Reasons' or 'Fantasy' live when he was young, you'd see he often had this 'duel' with a saxophone doing insanely high notes and falsettos.
Please please please do a video on Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria. There's lots of live videos, and acoustic videos and covers. He covered Adele's "Hello" a few years ago and it's beautifully done.
Songs performed by DIANA ANKUDINOVA are all live! She lives every story of the song by herself and through her feelings shakes our hearts!!! We rejoice in the light as children or our soul is squeezed by sadness! Diana left no one indifferent...no one!!!=))) Diana's tone gives the audience goosebumps!!! It's like a diamond with its own hue!!!=))))))))))
I you to get acquainted with the work of an unusually talented young singer from Russia - DIANA ANKUDINOVA! I don't know what impression her singing will give you, but the fact that you will not remain indifferent is a fact! Let me recommend covers: "Derniere Danse", "Rechenka" (Rechenka, River), (Diana is 14 years old); "Wicked Game", "Human", "Blizzard" (Diana is 15 years old here). All songs were performed on the project "You are Super!" ("Ты Супер!") and scored millions of views on RUclips!
Love finding about super talented artists through your channel! Could you react to Billy Raffoul? I'm really curious to hear your take on the sustainability of his technique and tone
Hey man! It can be hard going out of your comfort zone and trying new things. Especially when said new things are on display to everyone else. If anyone judges you they have a shitty personality. People should wear whatever they want! We're only here for a short amount of time, you do you boo. I know saying this probably won't help because I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times. That being said, you could definitely rock earrings dude! As a matter of fact I think they would look good on you.
I love your videos. Your content in general, dude. I learn so much from just your reactions. I could only imagine having you as a teacher. (Btw, I feel like you really do have perfect pitch... could be just a good guess?...but c'mon.. pretty damn OP) 😊❤
something about Sam Johnson keeps me coming back to his videos, he just seems to be the most genuine of the "youtuber" vocal coaches!
first video of him i watched, and it definitely feels like that
Moses plays with his voice and makes almost like.. sound texture. Does that make sense? It's fun! It reminds me of Bjork and how she plays with sounds
It’s spongy
Watch him cover Björk’s “Come to me”, it’s awesome.
he reminds me to bjork too!
Moses Is absolutely one of my favourite artists right now, love seeing him around!
He's magic to listen to. A real joy.
Classic from 2020! 🖤 Mr. Sumney is super fire with his tune! ❤️🔥
YOU COULD PULL OFF ANY LOOK SAM JOHNSON!!!

Second this--pulling it off is more about confidence than physical characteristics. I would dig it if you wore enormous hearts on your earlobes.
if more people wore what they wanted and were there authentic selves, the world would be way more comfortable
Do it man, you can always take them out...
This was a really "cool" performance. Btw, I really like you a lot; from the way you break things down, to your respect for and understanding of style and how it relates to technique, and your sense of humor. I stan.
Ever since hearing Moses sing Plastic on a random Sofar, I've hooked. This is all my faves combining
I love the passion you put in every comment and the way your face changes when you start talking about what makes your heart sing. Your reviews are really enlightening every time. ♥️🔥
moses has one of my favorite albums of the year. he deserves far more recognition
I absolutely love Moses!
This is one of my favorite songs right now. I love that you analyzed this!

I love that Sam had that moment of: "How *would* I look in those earrings? Yeah? Nah. But maybe? Nah....but..."
FINALLY SOMEONE REACTING TO MOSES SUMNEY ❤️ HES MY FAVORITE!
SAM JOHNSON CAN PULL OFF WHATEVER HE WANTS (earrings obv included)
Any look that makes your heart happy is a good look, so if those earrings would make you happy, GO FOR IT!
YES, MOSES IS CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
I'm now a fan. I heard one note and I'm a fan. This has never happened before.

He also gives my prince vibes in the way he runs from high to low especially with that vocal fry
Always a wonderful time with you Sam and your fantastic musical analysis!
When i saw Moses live, it was legitimately a spiritual experience lol felt like he was taking me to church
"Wear a freaking mask" 😂😂 Preach!

Sam this video just appeared on my feed, I saw you were asking if we were getting your videos so yes this came up right at the beginning just now.
Your videos definitely help me find the small differences between genres, I thank you as a classically trained singer.
I think you could pull off earrings, especially if you took some time while we're all at home to get confident wearing them!

Finally somebody explained how to do the fry in a way I can understand! I've done a Marge impression since the 80's!
Looooove it! Way to go, Sam 🤍
Yessss! Moses is so underrated!
Re: the earrings... only one way to find out!!
"Wear a mask," said Sam with a disdainful sneer. "If you're not wearing a mask, wear a freaking mask," he tossed out with a hint of an eyeroll.
Loved this!

I just started listening to Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin and I would love to see you react to her KEXP performance
Yes pleaseee!!!! Julia is one of my absolute favourites!!!
Love that Sam is one of the few vocal coaches who reacts to Black singers!
also, yes for the earrings, i support it
I love this guy. Reminds me of Prince at times.
Such a good video!
You should do the damn earrings, Sam!
He's channeling Al Green and Philip Bailey(Earth, Wind and Fire) when he hits the high notes.
Please please please do a video on Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria. There's lots of live videos, and acoustic videos and covers. He covered Adele's "Hello" a few years ago and it's beautifully done.
He is my absolute favorite singer ever.
Did you return your Neumann!?!? Loved the video, as always, you keep getting better

Diana Ankudinova sings beautifully. I listen with great pleasure.
Thank you for this. I subscribed. Moses voice is too good. Imagine him and Jazzmine having a vocal duel. 😮

Yes.
Yes, I also like to listen to songs performed by Diana. Her voice is unique.
REACT TO KEKE WYATT PLS!!! also this guys tone is really unique :)
I like how he often analyses artists whose voices freak me out in fascination.
You should watch him sing Björk’s “Come to me”. He’s amazing there too. And you should also blow your mind analysing Jacob Collier.
Reminds me of Screaming Jay in theatricality ... AWESOME
I love your videos!
The react I didn't know I need. I love ColorsStudio so much. I think you would like Cosmia - Insecure. I was absolutely enthralled by them
you can pull off those big ol' hard earrings if you want to... I support you
Love finding about super talented artists through your channel! Could you react to Billy Raffoul? I'm really curious to hear your take on the sustainability of his technique and tone

Wow this guy is a king 👑
He makes me think of Prince the way he sings is very cool.
Today's all about effects. Thanks for the how to guide!
The album reads like Cry. (Grae ae=i, Gri, Cri, Cry) Very cool. Not sure if that is the intent
The future of music!
