The India comes from the fact that this route has a ravine that is shaped like the country India and the second word is Venster which means a window in Dutch and African languages. It refers to a gap in the route caused by chockstone. You were actually only on the contour path. The india venter route go up to the top of the mountain at that signboard, and is one of the more interesting routes, require a bit of scrambling, a bit of route knowledge, but is very popular.
So many beautiful places around CapeTown. The wine region in particular Franschhoek is another amazing place even if you don't drink. South African wines are some of the best. The Dutch colonial architecture is worth a look as well.
