There’s a lot of stuff on your list that I have to check out! I was fortunate enough to see Thantifaxath live at their hometown show in Toronto back in October. They were awesome! That new record by Aara is easily one of the best metal records I’ve heard all year-so intense yet beautiful!
Not sure about my top 10/20/25 etc. but my top 3 would be: Sacred Outcry - Towers of Gold Taubra - Therizo Cruciamentum - Obsidian Refractions And shout-out to the drummer of Taubra/Aara. This guy has such a unique style. He also plays for Thron (another great German band) and released a fantastic new album in 2023 of his own project Malphas. Incredibly talented young lad!

I will definitely check out a dozen or so of those, specifically DM. This year I liked Bekor Qilish - TFOANG, Cryptopsy - AGB, Afterbirth - IBNO and Paroxysm Unit - FS (Colin Marston's in it. check out his loooong interview on Cali Death Podcast, very informative). Funny how years ago Cryptopsy released that one album everyone gave them shit for, but after that they've consistently been making great stuff. Wish I could see them someday, Mounier is still a beast.
@@ExplosiveAction Did I recommend Kobong to you? They were an amazing Polish prog metal band that only released two albums. They differ a LOT, but are both very unique in their own way. The second one even had some Meshuggah style drumming before Meshuggah got big. There's also a live album that got released only a few years ago and sounds almost as good as a studio release.
Although Im not a bm fan for the most part, this list is closest to mine as to favorites of the dm releases. I wasnt too keen on this years releases, but the end of the year was better as it went along.
I just listened to Fabricant for the the first time. Amazing stuff! Very good balance between heaviness and dissonance with average song length (~4 minutes). I've heard too many bands in a similar vein with songs that are 7 minutes or longer. I find that tiresome. Reminds me a little bit of Pyrrhon, although those guys are even more chaotic and have a dirtier sound.
