I passed over the keydial when it first released but it was widely requested that I check out this hybrid between a drawing tablet an a keyboard. This isn't a full review but mainly my first impressions after using it.

This would have been a wild review if you were left-handed!
this would have been a left review if you were wild-handed!!
I was wandering if they had a left hand version the moment I saw it
@@laurinha2310 Why are there so few left handed people in the world..
It's frustrating
@@dawnpaoloabes6513 our kind is suffering… when will it stop? (Sad violin song in the background)
@@laurinha2310 The numpad is our friend tho, and auto-hotkeys
I bought this last week and I love it!! Glad to see you reviewed this too :D your channel was actually the first I went to to see if there was a review of the product!
I'm ambidextrous so with a day of practice I could get the hang of having to draw on my right. But I'm more comfortable holding a pen in my left. A great idea and if I were a righty this looks awesome. But this automatically cuts off all hard core lefties and ambi lefts like me who would prefer not to have to get used to it.
But for those this works for, I wish your art well! 👍
Well... maybe I could twist it around where the keypad is at 6 o'clock and just rotate my drawings when finished. This would have to be in an apocalypse with no other choices hehe. I already write with my paper twisted practically upside down (it amazes people who actually take the time to notice) so I could make it work. Im not the more common leftie who twists their entire hand around like Obama does. But again, apocalypse circumstances. 😂
My thoughts exactly as a lefty. My first thought seeing the thumbnail was “cool idea! Bummer I won’t be able to use it…”
First thing i thought, thats so easy so to do left or right hand. Just put dial on center and butons simetricaly dristributed. Since they are customizable no matter how do you take will work perfectly!
I'm ambidextrous when I use form or spoon, not mouse control.
@@ItsMisterBluray Hm. Never thought about mice. But I use that almost exclusively right. Many things I just learned it right because that's all that was there (or set up for). If you gave me lefty scissors it wouldn't suddenly make the clouds part and the angels sing. I would ask what's up with the weird scissors could I get some regular ones please, lol, or fumble till I got the hang of it. If I tried a lefty guitar I'd be weak.. and I had to give up learning ASL because I kept switching dominant sides which was confusing me. Lol
An absolute beauty is this keyboard/tablet!!
i want one
… but not practical.
@@rewanji looks pretty practical to me..? Even with all the programmable shortcut controls on my wacoms I've always favoured reaching for the keyboard instead, this solves that.
@@rewanji you're not serious
*_absolutely in tears for being left-handed_*
Also, Huion's been cleaning up their drivers, it seems. The UI is surprisingly modern (kinda like Logitech Options which I adore). Major props for them!
SAME! 😭😭
I’m so sad, I bought the XP Pen Deco 03 and the Huion KD 100 about 2 months ago specifically for the fact that I could have a wireless tablet/macro pad combo! This is like the perfect version of that lol and costs about the same as having the 2 separate parts.
Every left handed man is ruined lol
When I saw it I was like what about left handed people
@@kudasibanda4553 well in China almost all left handed people were trained to use chopsticks and later write with their right hand, my dad included. (chinese eat on a rounded table as a family so if you eat with your left hand you will constantly fight with the person next to you), so as a Chinese company it's kind of understandable that they aren't considerate enough for lefties. Hope they get the feedback and find a solution for you guys.
And women too! (Jk, I get they weren't serious, neither am I)
@@faizahmohammedaruwa lol yeah me too.
That’s what I thought. It’s funny they don’t make a detachable version that can be connected on both sides given a lot of creatives are left handed lol
That little wheel being set to my canvas rotation sounds amazing right now
Oh dang I didn't even think of that
I'm a left handed. I'm not mad, just sad that I can't get in 'hand' with this cool products😭😩.
They never think of lefties. A ambidextrous magnetic panel would have been possible.

@@yolandacui2571 thanks for the insight. Didn't know that.
@@yolandacui2571 bruh no one asked.
@@harshpatil9825 Yes, but that can't work with this one because of the keyboard (unless you are willing to work with an upside-down keypad). It would have made it more expensive, but ideally the keyboard would be detachable and connected by a socket and clips to either the left or right side (or they'd make 10% of the stock a left-handed model).
Alternatively, a virtual keypad would have advantages for everybody. One model would serve everyone, and everyone could change the labelling of their keys to whatever symbols and rotation they want.
I absolutely love this tablet!!!! Got mine yesterday it’s amazing. I only use like 5 keyboard commands on the right so it was perfect programming them. Scroll wheel amazing and I don’t have to learn what buttons I put the commands on. Love it
Im using Huion tablet. AND LOVING it. I now cannot work without my Huion. Will definitely try this one too.
Waiting for the new Xp-pen Pro 16 review. Especially on the pen cuz they say they improved the IAF and it seems like it
Yup. So far the XP-Pen diehards have uploaded reviews, but I'm waiting for something more impartial
Theres an eraser
Brad I just want to say that you put so much effort in making videos for us and thank you so much for that
Whoa whoa whoa..... I've been waiting for something like this! It snuck up on me I guess since you put this video out more than half a year ago!
I'm kiiiiinda sad its not fully programmable. In fact, I pledge to purchase a newer version if it is programmable, and especially mechanical
Currently waiting for Brad's glove dance full length video
agreed
Thank you for reviewing this Brad. I really like tablets that come with shortcut keys. The more shortcut keys the better. I’d even prefer to have more than one dial, so it’s a little disappointing that every tablet I’ve seen only comes with one dial. It should have at least 3 dials in my opinion, one to zoom in & out, one to rotate the canvas view, and one to change the brush size. Still, I think it’s nice that this tablet gives more shortcut keys than most others. Now I only hope Huion decides to make a tablet like this with a screen :)
Huion has one that has 2 dials
Hi Brad, would you ever be tempted to do a video on your go to brushes for each of your digital art software? I am sure I am not the only one who would like to know what brushes you use to sketch and ink on ps.
Keep up the great work.
I wish he would too. We have been waiting for a while.
I love the idea of just dropping this thing over you laptop keyboard while still retaining a good bit of keyboard muscle memory. 👍
hopefully they could improve this on a modular type of product that you can place the table either left or right of the keyboard.... so that left handed people like me can use it
For 2022 as animator ,not as illustrator . This thing actually can be a beast for some animator . Why ?A lot of pro animator nowadays usually use customize hotkey which one key pad design instead of the usual setting , which makes them faster and no doubt when using the software . How ? Eventually when animator only used up some needed function instead of all function of the entire drawing software , they may reset all needed function to where left handed keypad for more faster working progression , it does not improve the drawing because drawing skill still depend where or how much u practice but it does highly fasten all the progression when u use the drawing software with customize key in software (not in tablet). And again to people who love tablet ,this is a good choice , Also , for people who use laptop , yes , one usb slot is enough .You worry about battery , then just plug in the cable and use ,simple ,easy ,better than any tablet(maybe xD
Something I noticed is that "shoe string" effect is not actuly a problem with the tablet because the same thing happens on paper and it is actually your pen that is touching the tablet on it's way back from the top of the stroke. Just wanted to put that out there.
My current tablet is a huion Insproy h640p (FYI)
Great first impressions Brad. I wonder if they'd be willing to do this with a display tablet... Either way it's a great idea!
Thanks for taking the time to show it to us!
P.s. the driver section on the video is in there twice, right after each other.
If this had had the G, I would say it would have been perfect for 3D. Between having to set 4 buttons (in regular tablets) to be the Q, W, E and R, plus the modifiers (ctrl, shift, alt and space), I am already out of programmable keys.
I have never been able to make the scrolling wheel work in Maya, but I think that's on me
Hey Brad, there's a repeated clip at around the 4:00 mark.
dejavu
A déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something.
Good evening. Tonight on 'It's the Mind', we examine the phenomenon of deja vu. @@jmalmsten I love that sketch. The increasingly more puzzled face Michael Palin manages to pull cracks me up every time. Thank you for remind me of it!
Im a fan.. you're one of the channels I listen to without speeding up playback...but please find away to fix the focus
I am left-handed like many other artists around the world, and I've asked Huion on several channels to see if they make a left-handed version of this tablet.
It was 3 months ago, still waiting for them to get back to me.
i was thinking about this type of device for so many years.
I just recently bought the Inspiroy Q620, which looks exactly like this one, but without the keyboard thing. I actually was really surprised wth the build quality and how the tablet is really accurate :)
I saw this to day and I am quite sure I need it :) *ordered*
This is a really cool concept and I would love to see this become more of a standard, but the fact that only five of the keys are programmable kind of kills me. It also doesn't really make a lot of sense; most keyboard buttons as they are don't have a litany of useful functions attached to them (who uses Q, W, or R much in Photoshop?) and you certainly aren't going to be doing much regular typing with half the keyboard. This would be a lot cooler if they did away with the "half a keyboard" concept entirely (or maybe just kept the format or something, for ergonomic and familiarity purposes) and made like 20-ish programmable buttons with a bunch of function buttons (like Ctrl, Shift, etc.) for further customization. Between each programmable "base" button and any combination of function buttons, you could very easily accommodate for the hundreds of shortcuttable actions in almost any creative app.
most apps have customizable keyboard shortcuts and failing that you can use autohotkey to write your own scripts
😅Q is my quick mask secret weapon, w is my magic wand not so secret weapon and R can be useful for pulling guides from the rulers from time to time. This would work good as a second tablet for teaching.
I dont really think that it was focuse towards ps users. Probably was done for people who sculpt in 3D and need wasd to move in the viewport. But yeah I get what you mean
@@visual_chris I guess, but don't 3D users use a ton of shortcuts in general all across the keyboard? I'm not super-experinced in Blender and stuff, but I've done a few tutorials and that was my impression, anyway.
@@SamOliver4 yeah in general thats true. But when sculpting you are in a seperate window/tab and since you're not really doing anything else other than moving in the viewport and using the pencil to sculpt you dont need more keys. Also that's the same with other sculpting software btw.
Excellent job on these videos Brad.
Love watching your channel just wanted to say 3:56 and 4:32 look like duplicate clips in your timeline
Great overview. One thing you might want to check - it appears that the driver section is in twice.
I like this idea. I have XP-Pen Innovator 16 so I dont need this, but what I found is I didnt make use of XP-Pen's built in dial or express keys as much as my daily typing gave me muscle memory in my hands, so its miles faster to just keybinds to keyboard shortcuts. But my full keyboard is kinda big/in the way, so having half of the keys to use instead sounds better. This device sounds like an interesting idea for a portable tablet slate with half-keyboard directly built in.
Downside tho, right-handed only. Heh.
Tho I can grab Huion KD100 for that. It's more like a numpad layout.
Nice design 🔥. Now I just gave to wait til they make this for left handed designers 😒✍🏾
Ikr 😞
Like never.
And then the right handed people will complain stuff was moved or removed. Lol
Love this tablet.
Wish they would make a pen display with the same keyboard.
Right now, I have to velcro the KD100 to the side of my display.
I never thought that technology will evolve that much!
Dude the bracket keys are literally on there right in front of your eyes! :P
(just hit numlock I think)
They've deliberately added things from the right side of the keyboard that are important shortcuts for precisely that reason!
When you wanna test your games as a game designer and need WASD. Not bad as a concept!
I been watching a lot of your videos lately and decided to subscribe!. I love drawing and been drawing for few years now. I been looking into getting into digital art one day. People say it easier than drawing on paper lol
This is my next tablet. I already have a Wacom but this one is perfect for me.
the all in one osu setup
There were 2 of the same clip next to each other, but I might buy this
I am left handed this looks like a nightmare since I can't just flip it and use the keys with my right hand haha
Exactly.
Same. It's weird they made it like that considering we're a lot in the artistic field.
Interesting, I actually use a one handed razer gaming keyboard with a bunch of shortcuts programmed into it with my drawing tablet so I'm surprised to see someone actually combined the two.
Definitely intrigued.
I’ve been hoping to see a review of this one!
What if you are left handed?
Waiting for MiPad5 / 5Pro review with Stylus.
Please make sure to test the drawing tablets like huion with that- specially how much of drawing tablet area is mapped to the MiPad tablet screen.
If I were a review channel this would be the sort of product I'd be excited to try out. Currently my keyboard is snug against the top of my tablet and off to the left side so I can use those keys.
if you didn't know, holding alt+spacebar is the shortcut for zoom tool! don't need + or - shortcuts!
I found out that I don't need that hand eye coordination training since I've played a lot of games, I just suck at drawing, big W
Looks like a really cool idea to place half a keyboard there instead of generic buttons.
Thanks for the review. I was really interested until the lack of programmable keys for the entire key set.
This would be dope with led keys like the stream deck instead of the "left half of a normal keyboard"
I'd rather see the other half of the keyboard on the opposite side, so you'd basically have a drawing tablet in front of you and when you need to type, your arms are straight out in front of you instead of at an angle. It would also solve the righters vs lefters bias.
But then you’d accidentally press the keys while drawing. I’m left handed, and I’ve realized keyboard shortcuts are MADE for right handed people, so this product wouldn’t really work any other way
OMG this looks freaking incredible... no matter how cleverly i set up my shortcut keys i can't get away from using the keyboard shortcuts for most things, which are all on that side of the keyboard, but then if you're on laptop mobile or at the desk setup it's always awkward trying to fit them togther... HMMMMMM
I like to see a android app that lets you have custom shortcuts buttons, virtual dials and sliders you can map functions to to control creation programs on your Windows PC.
It would be super frustrating to use to me bc I'm left handed. It's weird they made it so bc we're a lot in the artistic field.
man I like that thingy
Can’t wait to see a review on Mi pad 5
Another tip: buy standard pen tablet and use ergodox (or any split) keyboard, this way you can have either the left or the right part of the keyboard.
Does it have touch functionality and if so how do you turn it on? Mine doesn't seem to work.
Huion's got their drivers an option to make the tablet suitable for both left handed and right handed, I don't know if it applies to this new product but all I can say is... the keys has symbols so it might have been also a good product for left handed who preferred their tablets like this if not for the symbols. Not that I'm saying that it's completely unusable but if flipped, it will look a bit weird.
iPad with pencil 2 or MacBook with grafix tablet (without screen) which will you pick 🙂
def laptop+graphics tablet
if you dont have a pc already get the macbook
Ok I'm getting this
Glitch in the Matrix, or did you pop in the interface thingie twice?
If I can't have a full keyboard I actually prefer to have a weird nonstandard shortcut key layout. My muscle memory wants all the keys there if some of they keys are in normal areas. On my huion with the rows of buttons on the sides, I've made new muscle memory for the odd layout. Maybe if they built something with odd buttons and knobs. The tourbox comes to mind, with its knobs, d-pad, scrollwheels, etc come to mind.
Wow, I had been looking at half gaming keyboards for those Adobe shortcuts, but this is a sleek alternative to using separate devices.
Best tablet I’ve ever used!!! The only problem for me is that I can’t carry it on my backpack it’s HUGE! It doesn’t have to be this wide. The drawing part could’ve had some height instead of being this wide 😭 it if was just one inch smaller… Also there is no cover what so ever I genuinely can’t move it anywhere instead of my desktop setup which is horrible for a monster 5.0 Bluetooth tablet! That’s extremely frustrating for me
I bought a bigger backpack. It will hold a Rockstar.
You should try holding the pen with the tip of the thumb rather than the joint for finer control.
Deciding on what to buy for drawing/web design... Been looking at the new xiaomi pad 5 with the pen. Hope Brad does a review on that because... Not gonna lie.... I trust him and xiaomi is usually one of my go-to brands xD
after using the surface book and studio, no new traditional digitizer design really makes me hyped anymore
Am I trippin' or did the videos repeat at around 4:30
Yup. It repeats.
It would be great if can split and use just the keyboard or just the tablet, a usb-c on both sides and a small extension to connect both open more possibilities.
The encoder wheel seems cool but on top, where you need to constantly move the hand and leave the keys isn't good, if was under the keys (interact with thumb) might be possible to use ctrl, alt and shift modifiers
Is it just me, or did this video repeat itself between the 4:23 - 5:23 marks?
8 minutes long, probably 30 to 60 seconds worth of info already provided in Aliexpress
1:45
I just need to see the glove breakdown and it's an automatic like for me
Also I would like to get this table but I feel like it would be "too small" but I really like the shortcut keys on the side
Hey, I found your channel recently an subscribed almost instantly. I'm beginning to get into 3d modeling an 3d art etc been looking for something that's wireless or Bluetooth for a cheap price I've thought about getting a surface pro or something aswell. Do you think this will handle blender 3d modeling or sculpt? Any suggestions or recommendations?
it seems realy good
We need a review for the new iPad mini!
Hello Brad.
Thank you for this amazing overview of this tablet. i have purchased and got it yesterday evening.
I wanna ask about the pen nib:
ow long does it last? -i mean according to ur experience, how much does a nib last-?
Thank you
I have a question, Should I buy an Xpen display tablet or an Ipad air 4(there are plenty of apps that can mirror the screen as per my youtube research)? I am using a windows laptop. Thanks in advance
@@AsymmetricalDialogue Did you tired display the mirroring app? Do they have lagging? or they are smooth
for me i use all those left side keyboard for everything in my PS. zooming just hold Z and move my stylus, for resizing brush just hold alt and right mouse button and move the stylus. i consider photoshop is really useful for using only my left hand and my left side keyboard without crossing my hand to right end of my keyboard.
surely this huion will help me alot and use my laptop keyboard only for typing
I'm not surprised. It's a weird form factor that people are interested in but much less likely to risk money on without seeing a review.
It seems alright. I don't see any real ergonomic benefit from having half a keyboard connected to the tablet. If you already have a keyboard connected to your computer, the tablet on it's own is fine.
How do the keys feel, though? Are they squishy or clicky? That's the type of stuff that's important when buying a keyboard. Another good question is if the keys are spaced and sized in a way that lets you use your muscle memory from using a keyboard in the past.
Also, I tend to zoom in and out in Photoshop by using ctrl(or command)+space rather than incremental zooming with plus and minus. I also like resizing the brush with alt+right click... So I'm struggling to find any use to the shortcut buttons and wheel at the top. Maybe a shortcut to reset canvas rotation if I ever use that... Oh! A good shortcut would be alt+backspace to fill a selection. Also, the M key to make marquee selections.
For those who are really used to their keyboard shortcuts but want to push it aside when drawing this could be a neat device. But it doesn't provide anything my Wacom pen tablet's quick keys don't already provide in a much more stream lined form factor. I can get 40+ keyboard shortcuts into only 6-8 quick buttons thank to the little popup menus if I need to. And the quick keys I can use as a lefty.
I'd rather see Huion use less gimmicks and put more effort into their software.
I think there's a place for this, but I'm definitely not their target market, even if I was right handed.
Ur good at any drawing tablet
Does the keyboard of KD200 works with bluetooth mode?
keyboard works with wire mode and dongle mode, with Macbook Pro
I just bought my very first drawing tablet the huion h420 right after I watch your review brad. Its really not that bad for its price
I think this is quite good
I see no latency from the video, but is there any when working wireless?
Could this combine with an on-screen swype keyboard to use a full keyboard on a tablet/pc?
This is a pretty cool concept. Good luck selling it for $150.
Hello Brad. Can you please make review on realme pad. 🙏🙏🙏
I’m surprised no one mentions that internally the tablet is using Wacom technology. ANY tablet that uses a batteryless stylus is licensing Wacom tech. Some of these companies even use slightly customzed versions of the Wacom stylus, like this one. Often, a feature will be missing, like the eraser tip. I assume Wacom does this to maintain superiority (although a more expensive license opens up the addition of more Wacom features. This one is basically a Pro Pen 2. Another giveaway is the driver. Many times, the UI is exactly like Wacom’s, just rebranded for the licensee.
Hey brad, lots of tablets have been released this week (ipad, ipad mini, xiaomi pad 5, realme pad). (+samsung tab a8 gonna release soon). Waiting for your reviews, would be very happy if you also review the xiaomi pad 5 cz i know you’ll review the ipads. ;)
Hi Brad can you do review for the Xiaoi Pad 5 pro and the Mi smart pen. It's seems really promising, cheap tablet that has specs that rivals Ipad pro's. 😁🙏
Hi, when drawing something, and if you want to place the pen in an exact point, how do you manage to do it if the tablette is totally black and does not contain the drawing?
Disappointing that there’s no left handed version :((
Waiting for the Huion Inspiroy Ink H320M Review. I really need to know if its good or nah because im going to use it for school and stuffs and I don't have money so i might regret it.
Sorry for bad english.😊✌️
not gonna lie, when i saw this, i was hoping that it will have the other half of the keyboard on the other side too and it will be great for ergonomic
Hello brad, I really like your review. Also just want to ask, would you like to review miipad 5 pro if it's good for artist
