Putting the feeding troughs on a pully system is brilliant! What a game changer. Your barn is beautiful. You really planned ahead for everything when you built it. It is SO impressive. Congratulations on making your winter months easier.
Great ideas...I plan on incorporating into an upcoming barn build. Your operation is an inspiration! Thank you for sharing. I would love to see more videos like these, describing in depth how your chores go with each type of animal. Planning on beef, hogs, meat chickens and laying hens. Already have the hens in their own coop, which is a great system of happy and productive birds. The new barn will incorporate the other three animal types. 5-10 beef, 1-2 dairy cows, 2-4 sows, and 50-100 meat chickens is the plan right now. Would love to hear your thoughts on things like hay volumes, bedding volumes, water volumes and how the pastures and passages connect to the sections of the barn where each animal spends at least part of the cold season in. Thanks again!
😂 Josh napping with Tilly at the end was fantastic! Your mobile feed frames are absolutely brilliant to keep level with the animals as the deep bedding grows. Silly question, how do you get the feed higher as the waste and bedding gets deeper? I assume the feed starts on clean floors. Can any raw/untreated shavings work, or do they have to be a specific type (hard/soft wood, species specific)? I really appreciate you folks going through your "Poop Loop" with us. Also, explaining your irrigation in a cold weather climate. You and your intern did a wonderful job. Much love from the Midwest US. 💖 God bless. 🕊️
Barn looks good. I like what you've done for feeding the hay. Not necessary to start the tractor. Although the large squares are nice, kinda surprised you went with them vs rounds.
That's so awesome! Make sure you where something over your face when dumping the sawdust, and have bystanders do so too! A relative died of lung scarring due to sawdust.
❤ Great info farm is more difficult for sure in winter. We are having good weather this week is freezing overnight so the hose comment made me 😅 hate dragging hoses. Thanks again for teaching. ❤from eastern Colorado
How do you manage moving so many wood shavings without a tractor? Or making it cost effective if you're having to import the shavings/chips? I can wheelbarrow it in but that seems like more work than just removing the manure to a compost bin!

Would love to see your chicken area in the barn!
Many blessings to you all!
I love it. Your cattle are just so terrified of you, lol. And the rising head gates are ingenious.
This is a fantastically helpful video. So great to see your barn systems!
We appreciate you watching!

Very nice Josh.
Glad you enjoyed it
So happy for you.
I guess with the land you have, this is great, but I like Greg Judy's system better. I really like how you provided all this for your family
Looks great Josh! Love the work smarter not harder!
Thanks! We're all about efficiency around here.
❤ Loved this video! 👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you liked it!!
Fertilizer is what I learned to call it
Bess Truman did her best as well with her significant other.
That is a great system! I love how it all works & is designed for easy use that is a time safer. Very effective for a sustainable farm!
Used to call this Pasture Pastries😂
love Tilly

EVERYTHING POOPS - Gotta Understand It. 😂
Cows look like they enjoy the fresh shavings.

QUESTION-Do you worry about a fire with all the wood shaving?
How do you manage moving so many wood shavings without a tractor? Or making it cost effective if you're having to import the shavings/chips? I can wheelbarrow it in but that seems like more work than just removing the manure to a compost bin!
Sorry if this was addressed elsewhere and I missed it - but how do you get/produce all of your wood shavings?
We get them from a local cabinet shop.
Is throwing feed down, easier than throwing it up?
How do ya make the money to have purchased your new fancy smancy equipment?
Where do you get bulk shavings like this? I live in north central washington and man, I've called the mills and they won't sell bulk to me. Ideas?😊
We get ours from a local cabinet shop. You could check locally for one near you.
Smells like money.
More of these. Less talking head.
