  • In 2011, Aaron Swartz was arrested by the FBI and charged with computer fraud after he bulk downloaded copyrighted academic articles. Swartz did not distribute the articles. He was told by the prosecution he could face 25 years in prison. In 2013, he took his own life.
    On November 8, 2014, the date which would have been Aaron Swartz's 28th birthday, the first International Hackathon was held. The event was filmed as part of Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web, a documentary Directed by Annie Goldson.
