The way the irony of having to dress hyper feminine and showing a lot of skin even when it's completely impractical in the first part being immediately followed by her dressing hyper feminine and showing a lot of skin in the second one was completely lost on her is so funny to me. "The male gaze is bad, which is why I'm going to cater to it even in a mv about how bad it is". We all know a shiny bra and thong are not how she dresses like in her everyday life so it's not about her being herself, it's about appealing to the general public and looking good even as she's trying to prove a point about not appealing to the general public and having to always look good.

The part where you said "she has no personality, no artistic voice", well, I'm convinced that her whole image was created from Bonnie McKee's and Dr. Luke's point of view. Look up for Bonnie's work. I mean, go watch "Bombastic", which is an unserious song and video (but I love it), it could scream "Katy" all over it for people who don't know that she wrote a great part of her hits. Despite how much I strongly dislike Christianity, my favorite Katy Perry songs are her "I really wanted to be a Christian pop star so Im gonna sneak this one onto the album" songs. Like "What Am I Living For". They're at least a little more authentic.
I know "Witness" is a flop + cringe but I genuinely like a lot of that record & Katy was at least trying to challenge herself + grow as an artist. It's disappointing she'd run back to this crap. The Dr. Luke thing is such a betrayal + stings so much it retroactively sours even her bona fide diva hits. I believe Ke$ha.

Great body, but being a hot mum is not feminism. Even without getting political or phylosophical, it's such a "PLEASE LOOK AT ME, PLEASE!" moment that it's actually quite embarrasing to watch. She looks great, but she makes herself look kinda empty and sad, this whole thing was sad.
I also dont think these artists have much creativity nowadays. Like they will be good for 5 years and then all of a sudden there is a massive fall off as they cant evolve. The artists also get older and with that you have evolve the themes of your songs.
I think she did have a viewpoint and artistic direction that created a public image and idea of who she is for her first two to three albums and then maybe she started to lose that curated image and sound and go with what her team thinks would be best . I’m not sure. But I believe she helped curate her image and music with her own creativity , writing, personality and campy aesthetic for the first 2 albums and possibly maybe the third too not sure
Putting Dr Luke aside. I think the other issue is the fact Katy doesn’t appear to know who her demographic audience are anymore. I was 14 when she came onto the scene back in 07/08 and believe she was a hit with people mostly around the ages of 8-20is let’s say. Fast forward a lot of those people now are well into their mid 20s to early 30s. Music taste changes throughout the years and if you’re not willing to adapt, you may get lost in translation. A lot of people that age now are more interested in the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Charlie XcX and so on. Perry is very much stuck in the late 00s, early 10s.
I’d go even further in saying she’s never really known who her audience is or should be. This is where the lack of a musical style or stamp comes in, because I see her as a literal fabricated product to appeal to the mainstream, and because it lacks that identity, no one really sticks around to support her in the long-term
Hey StutterBox --- would you consider doing a video on the RNC crashing Grindr servers in the city with the convention recently? I’ll say here what I said to a friend when they asked my opinion about it: the music video “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi did the whole “sexualized female construction workers” satire waaay better, because it wasn’t trying to be this huge feminist statement. The juxtaposition of heavily sexualized women doing pretty decent construction work while the text on the screen shows all the specifications of the tools they’re using is hilarious, and I’m saying this as both a woman and a feminist. Like, if you gonna go with that kind of imagery, either go ham or don’t do it at all. It’s not feminist to make something ridiculous as this then hide under the guise of “satire” so you can claim it’s feminist. “Never half ass two things, whole ass one thing.” -Ron Swanson
There is not a single Katy Perry song worth mentioning, but she can sing, and despite all the cringy behavior, she’s endeared herself to humans in general. Her music is pop at its worst. I like her.
eminem does it better about coming back without losing himself (yeah, that's intentional on me) but with katy perry is just... like, what does she think "hmm,,, what is the thing that's very 2024-ish" "misogynistic men? yeah lets fight that" like, where did you even find that, any misogynistic/misandrist and other hard no-reason political is getting bullied anywhere. if anything, she's just not trying to have a comeback at all
She needs a better lyricist and producers helping her with her songs. For sure. She definitely comes across as tying too hard. That never works. And she seems to think that she needs "influencer" help to reach a greater audience. She needs to just try to figure out who she is and play to that, instead of trying to make something she thinks will work. The "message" she's maybe trying to see with this song/video is very confusing.
Alot of the time it's the artist's recording label making them work with certain producers. (Dr. Luke has produced tons of hits and i'm sure he has contracts with labels that require them to use his work - just saying!)
Totally agree, but in this case I think she chose to work with him. She didn’t work with him on her last album back in 2020, so seeing his involvement now makes it seem like she wanted to work with him again. And back when the legal proceedings were happening, Katy said she didn’t want to “pick sides” when it came to Kesha and Dr. Luke. And that’s a pretty horrendous thing to say given the circumstances 😬
Maybe the satire is on the idea that women should be empowered, and Katie Perry’s going to reveal she’s redpilled and thinks real women’s empowerment is being a homemaker.
With this Katy Perry comeback what i am seeing is clearly a trend where everyone has been repeating the same opinion. There was a prejudgment and the video was taken in a literal manner because it suits her aesthetic, and theres is in this joyless generation an automatic reaction to cancel certain things because they look cancellable. The algorithm drluke+normative good looking women+born before 1990 is already too much of a trigger to let people even consider if the song is fun or catchy or whatever a silly pop song is supposed to be. In the meantime everybody was silent as sphinxes when Doja Cat did music with Dr Luke.
“At this point i don’t know whose having a worse year: Jennifer Lopez, Jojo Siwa, or Katy Perry” so accurate lol
if i had to pick to be one of them i’d probably pick Katy 😂 JLo and Jojo are absolute laughing stocks

She looks great, but she makes herself look kinda empty and sad, this whole thing was sad.
She sold her soul, as they all do.
What do you expect?!
You would love Catallena by Orange Caramel. Also not sure if my last comment worked, but stream Joyride by Kesha!
I’ll give it a listen 🤗
Joyride has been on repeat 💅🏼 and I can’t stop watching frantic edits on Twitter with this song playing, they’re sooooo good!!
I also dont think these artists have much creativity nowadays. Like they will be good for 5 years and then all of a sudden there is a massive fall off as they cant evolve. The artists also get older and with that you have evolve the themes of your songs.
Whenever i remember this song, all i can think of is“SEXYYYY CONFIDENT”
BLUMHOUSE!!!! I’m dead 🤣
I feel like Katy Perry and pink have never had a clear or unique aesthetic
(Milwaukee I think; apologies if I'm wrong, I can't search rn & I'm Canadian so I'm trying my best! Sorry🍁)
Only if you have anything you want to say about it, ofc. I'm just signalling I'd like to hear anything on your mind about that, but obv I'll watch all the StutterBox, so please keep doing your thing.
I actually like the song, it's catchy af, but the drama behind the song is hard to ignore & hard to avoid
Yeah, it doesn’t make me want to turn it off straight away, but knowing all the backstory is… something! 😅
Yt woman feminism isn’t actually feminism, it’s the patriarchy without yt men above…everything else stays the same.
LOUDER!!!
The Blumhouse comment is 🔥🔥🔥
I don't want to see anymore. I just want here to go away. She is doing real damage.
The song is very meh but I feel like people are being ageist towards her but I can’t stand her campy try hard I’m so kooky 🤪 humor I wish she would just sing
Sorry but nobody cares about her new album
You’re pretty
After one of the biggest miscalculations in recent pop memory, surely she should scrap womens world from the album.. She won't though.
thanks you i am totally agree with you
Perfectly said
fav song? my first jump was to Buon Appetito, but if i don't want to copy, i'll go for the song that made her, Kissed a Girl!
I liked California Girls for the candyland video.
That was it.
3:08 similarly "smell like a rose and I pierce like a thorn" lyric from hey hey hey - katy perry
When you have as a guest star.....Trisha .... yeeeahh she is more desperate than JLO at this point😂😂😂! Thanks once again you always have the point and made me laugh...i mean alllll along😂..... a monday 🙏👍⭐!
Gostei da crítica. Continua o bom trabalho.
And to think that the Australian AFL is paying her to perform at the grand final. No thanks. 🙄😑
Love you, love this, bring it on. Coat me with your gallons of content 😂
Challenge accepted 😆
Worse top3 3. Katy Perry 2. JLo 1. Jojo Siwa
Ooo the Blumhouse shade
I’m cackling 😂😂😂
I've been watching ur videos for a week on 144 and i thought the picture on the left was a horse and the right picture was a waterfall 😂
I- excuse me? 😂😂😂
Katy and JLO shall not be mentioned together in one sentance.Katy Perry is definetly a powerhouse singer, while JLO is mediocore.
There is not a single Katy Perry song worth mentioning, but she can sing, and despite all the cringy behavior, she’s endeared herself to humans in general. Her music is pop at its worst. I like her.
third language! good for you. what are the other two? dont be mad but every once in awhile a syllable sounds like Andrew Tate's pronunciation
Portuguese and Swiss German! (Though German has since vacated my brain and made space for Spanish instead 😂)
Oh God, not the king of the incels 😆
I can’t even enjoy mid 2000s on music or movies anymore. It jusmakes me go ah yes. How we got here. I reject the media of my youth.
Love from Paris :) i love your channel
Thank you so much!! 🫶🏻
I think her recent songs - Never really over or Daisies were great. This one is rubbish.
eminem does it better about coming back without losing himself (yeah, that's intentional on me)
but with katy perry is just... like, what does she think
"hmm,,, what is the thing that's very 2024-ish"
"misogynistic men? yeah lets fight that"
like, where did you even find that, any misogynistic/misandrist and other hard no-reason political is getting bullied anywhere. if anything, she's just not trying to have a comeback at all
GIRL, you're Awesome
Everybodys talking about it
She needs a better lyricist and producers helping her with her songs.
I just found your channel and I’m obsessed
Welcome! 🤗
Its sad because Katy has a great voice. And i liked her music but i can’t get behind this song
Maybe the satire is on the idea that women should be empowered, and Katie Perry’s going to reveal she’s redpilled and thinks real women’s empowerment is being a homemaker.
"Shes a sister shes a mother" and shes a human being her own person like- we know who wrote this and it just shows.
Poor Katy Perry. Can’t catch a break ever since Swish Swish and Bone Apple Teeth
