Thanks for letting me tell my crazy car and business stories on your RUclips channel Ed! It was a pleasure and an honor! I wish I had said it on camera but I would like to give a HUGE thanks to David and Polo! These two guys are running my shop now with dedication and trust and are the best two guys I have had in 30 years! Thanks guys!!!
Even with all that happening you still want to do good for people working for you. It really sucks that there are people who will take advantage of that, but overall I hope that never changes your demeanor that much. Bosses who really care about their employees are rare in comparison. I am not a business owner but I know well how bad it feels to be taken advantage of that way, like once after a drinking party at my place, I let a couple of people sleep on my couches because of how trashed they were. One of them in the middle of the night, walked off with around $1500 worth of video games. That is just one example. It really is like a kick in the balls. But POS people be POS people and I'll never let crap like that change how I treat people, especially my friends.
Thanks, Bob for taking another shot at the Big Chair to tell another car story. I would love to see you come back and set the record straight on the "Cash for Clunkers" program that the US government enacted in 2009 to "stimulate" new car sales. While I know the effects it had on the market, as a whole. I believe it would be nice to hear the story from someone who was directly involved. Please consider doing it either here, or on your own RUclips channel.
On the truck I’m guessing your insurance paid you for it, they own it in reality and they probably sold it at auction to recoup some of their expense. Thrives suck Men that recognize good help are great bosses.
Had my dealership start from a Autobody shop/classic car salvage yard and had the exact same growing pains you had with thieves that stole from us and the ones that worked for us.
I can't tell you how much I hate thieves. Especially when they steal things that're priceless to you, but they can't resell, so they dump somewhere and you never get the things back.
Yeah, that was like the time I ran out of gas and had to leave my car by the train tracks and walk over a mile to fill up the can. When I got back, everything was gone. My guitar, a duffel bag full of cds, guitar hero controllers, all my songwriting books and stuff from school in my backpack... strangely enough, the only thing they didn’t take was a $5 bill that I left on the center console.
A few years back some fuckers broke into my grandparent's house. They stole all kinds of stuff that's of little to no value like our families old signet ring (no value material wise because my family was never really rich) but they left the amber my grandma had in her living room table. They even tried to smoke a like 30yo pack of fags my nan had in a setcase kind of thing by the entrance. They probably caused more property damage by breaking the window then what they got in return.
i’ve learned the hard way that there’s never any catching a thief that’s already gotten away. guy broke into my garage waved at the cameras took all my tools and left. showed the police and they couldn’t give less of a shit
I understand the frustration but you seem not to realize how the system works. They can't identify the person easily just by looking at the footage and investigation requires resources. The bigger the theft the more resources there are to allocate for it. But the small ones can sometimes end with a mere formality. That's just how it is. However if someone was to identify the person looking at the footage, that would change everything. Did you try sharing the video and spreading the word in the hopes to do so?
They truly didn't care. They just take the report and it gets filed with the millions of other reports nobody ever looks at again. Maybe if you'd drive around with stacks of cash you'd have better luck getting their attention. They prefer being the thief to chasing them.
part 1 addicts. have a former best friend who i grew up with who was living with another good buddy of mine because they grew up right down the street from eachother.. well my close buddy gave my former best friend a place to live, no rent, he had a room right next to his in my close buddies parents house. my close buddy would buy food for this kid, gave him a place to stay when he had no where to go and no job. we all knew about this kids addictions and we tried to talk to him many many times about it, offered to fly him out to peurto rico to go on a sort of staycation until he was clean and happy again.. he had a place to stay with another good buddy of ours out there, rent free, for as long as he needed, right next to the beach on a tropical island in the carribean. what more could you ask for? well turns out none of it was appreciated, he ended up stealing my close buddies dad's gold necklace off his parents bedroom wall, that necklace was a solid gold chain with a solid gold crucifix that his dads dad passed down to him, he used to wear it but to not tarnish it or potentially break or lose it, he hung it on the wall and that's where it stayed... turns out that went missing.. then one day i got a call from my close buddy telling me that our former best friend since we were all 6 years old had moved all of his stuff out but still had a key to the house, i told him lets go to home depot, get new locks and change them out, make copies of the keys for your family and not worry about him still having a key.. welp while my close buddy was at work and his family was all at work or out of the house.. our former friend snuck in, went down to my buddies room and took his debit card off his end stand next to his bed, emptied out my close buddies bank account, literally drained it. took the cash and went ghost on evvvvveryone. we have a small but pretty close friend group since high school, only about 6 of us that are really close and used to hangout and go everywhere together throughout our early 20's, he went ghost on all of us. personally i havent heard from him since all of this went down like 4 ish months ago.. but after he drained my buddies bank account.. my buddy went and reported this to his bank and our local PD.. the bank pulled up the camera feed from the night his account was drained and low and behold.. our former best friend went in with his hood up and took everything from the account, left and got into his car, took his hood down and the camera in the parking lot got a clear shot of his face as he was sitting in his car in the parking lot. the bank sent that photo to my buddy and they also sent it to the local police department. my buddy gave this kid everything, from a roof over his head to a place to shit and shower everyday, never asked for rent. never expected anything from it, just wanted to help out one of our best friends in his time of need since he had literally no where to go other than sleeping in his car in parking lots. he gave him food, would go grocery shopping for this kid, would go out and get mcdonalds if they were hungry and there wasnt food in the house. his mom and dad would cook for this kid and feed him. my buddy always rode dirt bikes and has a few of them.. whenever we would go out riding he would always invite our former friend.. sometimes he would go and my buddy would always tell him just have fun, he doesnt care if you break the bike as long as you had a good time. he wouldnt even ask you to fix the bike or pay for the parts and my buddy isnt made of money, just works an average job at a car tire dealership. there have been instances where people have broken his bikes or he has and he doesnt stress it at all. super generous kid, way more than me anyways. yet our former buddy turned around after alllll of that and still stole from him and his family whose house he was staying in for free. tons of things started going missing around the house, from a ps3 in their living room to family heirlooms to expensive gold necklaces that are from nearly 100 years ago to draining every dollar from my buddies bank account. it was heartbreaking bc this kid was one of my best friends growing up, we had sooo many good times and good laughs.. and to hear he did all of this because of his addictions to drugs and none of us have ever known him to be a bad person.. the best friend i used to know was one of the hardest working and most motivated kids straight out of high school, he was the only kid our age that i knew who held 3 jobs for YEARS, he would always have fuckin WADS of cash in his wallet at all times, im talking no less than $2000 in his pocket everywhere he went. we would go to the casino sometimes and i remember losing the 300$ i went in to play with in like the first 2 hours and was just sitting there watching my friends gamble while i was having a few drinks and he accidentally bet $20 on one number in electronic roullete and that number hit and he got paid back $750 on an accidental bet.. he cashed it and handed all 4 of us who were there an extra $100 bill so we could keep playing and enjoying the night. this same kid turned around and robbed my buddy, his best friend, blind for everything he had, plus family heirlooms and other things from the house. i guess the moral of my long winded story here is that when people end up addicted to things especially drugs or substances.. they are no longer the person they used to be that everyone knew.. they are now the drugs and that's it. that's all they think about, it's their motivation everyday to get up and active, it becomes their entire personality and consumes every bit of who they used to be.
part 2 since then our former buddy has been on the run, nobody knows where he is. the only reason i know he is still alive is because i see him actively online on instagram every now and then, that little green dot that tells you when someone is browsing instagram. he wont talk to any of us, he probably left the state, definitely left the city we all live in. it's truly a shame too because not just 2 weeks before this all went down, he came by my house while i was changing out my coilovers to a new and better set.. he came by telling me how he got clean and isnt using anymore, sat there and had a whole conversation while helping me install my rear coilovers. this was the day after i just helped him go and pick up and move an engine hoist for his dad who also works on cars but no longer has a truck, his dad also fell on hard times, he is a mechanic but couldnt hold his job because he was diagnosed with cancer and the treatments were kicking his ass, dropped sooo much weight in such a short amount of time. it was rough seeing his dad like that because his dad was always a hard working and dedicated dude, was a single father of 5 kids all around the same age and i remember seeing his struggle when i was a little kid growing up with this kid.. he and his dad were supposed to be swapping this mini vans engine and i knew where the job was bc i just helped drop off the engine hoist to the job site so i went by and picked up my buddy for a test drive with my new coilovers bc we are both into modding cars and he helped swap out my rears since its not a 1 person job or at least not for me since my arms arent nearly long enough to do it by myself.... either way i went over there and he wasnt even helping his dad, just sitting in his own car on his phone while his dad was sweating his ass off (was late summer at the time) underneath this van, working with the guy who was paying for the work instead of his own son who was there to help and get paid for the help. yet he was just sitting on his phone in the car so i walked over and got him to come on a quick test drive and right then and there i knew he just lied to me not 2 hours earlier with his whole "im clean now" story. i knew he was sitting on his phone looking to find his next fix, anticipating his dealers text back. it's sad man. it's genuinely heartbreaking. but people addicted to drugs are no longer the people everyone knew. they lie out the ass constantly, they put on this façade of being a normal person but underneath they're only thinking about their next fix. it's sad to have to call him my former best friend but after the things he's done to someone he once considered his brother, i refuse to be friends with him. he is no longer the best friend i once had but now he is the drugs that he is taking and i refuse to be friends with crack or heroin. i lended him money that ill never see again and i didnt even care or ask for it back, only to find out he owes a bunch of other people money already. i just wanted to know what was going on with him and if there was any way i could help. there wasnt/isnt. he wont ever change until he realizes the drugs are the problem and tries to separate himself from the drugs and i highly doubt that is going to ever happen now that he is far from home, on the run because he is wanted by the cops for fraud and theft. the worst part of it all is how heartbreaking this has to be for his dad. his dad did everything for him man, everything he could anyways. he was never a wealthy or rich man but he worked hard as fuck and this kid just took advantage of it all the whole time. such a shame because i miss the kid i once knew. always funny af, cracking jokes on everyone even strangers, just loved making people laugh and being goofy, took after his dad in a ton of ways with his work ethic especially.. but somehow got addicted to hard drugs along the way and it absolutely consumed everything of the kid we all once knew and loved to death. now nobody knows where he is, how he is doing or anything. i dont know if the PD ever found him and picked him up, as far as i know, they havent bc i havent heard any news from any of my other friends on it. it's a pretty touchy subject for everyone right now and nobody knows how to feel, we all are mad as hell at him but we also want to see him better and completely sober, back to his old self.. but even then, how do we go about everything he has done? personally, i could forgive him for ripping me off, i genuinely dont care, as long as he is truly clean and off of the shit he is on now. but i dont know how my close buddy is ever going to feel about this even if he does get clean and sober for the rest of his life, how can you forgive that? stealing from the family that put a roof over your head for free, as a grown ass man, fed you, let you bathe in their bathroom for free. always kept their doors open and unlocked for you whenever, since we were little kids. treated you like family.. and you turn around and steal a necklace that's been in the family for nearly a whole century AND THEN turn around after pawning that and steal a debit card and completely drain the account????? i know if that happened to me, i'd never trust any "friend" again. life is a bitch sometimes. sometimes you can have everything going for you and still manage to lose it all and sometimes you can have nothing at all but still give what you can and someone will come along and still steal everything from you without any regard or any appreciation for the generosity you're giving even when you have next to nothing to give. apparently, that's life.
I never take anything from cars I tow. I might look through your stuff though :) If I see a wallet or phone or whatever I will hide it under something so nobody can see it through the window. I will admit I pissed in someone's back seat once because they were running lacquer for people to huff.
@@juliogonzo2718 what was that last sentence? I’ve had 2 cars towed from accidents both stripped clean of any stuff I couldn’t take and one the head unit.
@@iancarrey4123 that ain't right. I work with one guy who im pretty sure steals shit. He wonders why I take all my shit out of the truck when I leave it at the shop. The last sentence about pissing in the person's car, they were arrested for dealing lacquer thinner for people to inhale in a northern reserve. Killing his own people and their brains for money. I would have shit in it if I had to go.
That last story is heartbreaking. You can't blame Bob if that type of thing hardens him but I really do hope he still keeps that same heart. Anybody that's ever helped me in a tight spot gets paid back plus interest because I want them to understand how much it's appreciated and I've only had to borrow money once because I owed on taxes
You (personally - considering the horror stories about some of your employees 😮 ) might need to discreetly add some apple airtags into your vehicles and just remove them once the vehicle has been sold. Great stories otherwise.
I have learned to set the tone with the employees from the start. If they see you as weak and easy to manipulate, they will. In that last story Bob gave the employee the means by which to steal all of his stuff. It is more important who your employee hangs around with than who that employee is.
Even though tools are replaceable, I'd seriously cry if someone stole my tools. Most of my stuff is beat to hell and back, so it's basically worthless to the market place, but stops my ability to provide for my family.
It is upsetting to see how people act and behave referring to your employee’s stealing from you , Theft of your vehicles and other things from unknown lowlifes is one thing, but it’s hard to hear about how your employees took advantage Of you, I am starting to grow a respect for you from hearing how hard you worked to get where you are.😷👏 by the way I found out about your channel through Tyler, and the wizard.👍
That sucks. Someone burned my vehicle a couple years ago, was an '01 tahoe, so I think I know how you feel. That thing had like 300k on it but was the most reliable thing I ever owned. What year and what kind of car was it?
"What's interesting is they found the truck, but, I never got it back" That's normal. If insurance has paid out for the theft of a vehicle, then even if it is recovered it is no longer your vehicle - it belongs to the insurance company.
Bob, I'm also Bob and an honest man thats not a thief. 36 yrs old and would love to be In the car industry. Hvac guy by trade but willing to make the switch lol. No bs there are still good ppl out here, may be harder to find these days but they still exist. Keep ur good heart man! Nice to see.
Ouch man ouch. It's always so painful and frustrating when you give someone a hand and they turn around and do shit like this. Happened to us but in a small scale. We are an I.T. Support company. A new hire, he needed a laptop. We had a number of old spares that werent needed. We told him he can take them. The one he was using had an old slow drive, I told him he can install an SSD in there. Long story short, he wasn't a good technician at all and we let him go. Boss would have given him a chance if he could have said that he was sorry for over selling himself on cv, that he wants to learn and so on... but he kept making excuses. Anyways, shortly after that we noticed that 5 or 6 SSD harddrives went missing... so he served himself. Mister Bob, you seem like such an awesome guy. I hope such experiences won't change you for the worst. You're a good guy and I hope you will always be willing to help someone in need. And I hope those who are helped are always grateful in return.
Well typically when a car is stolen the insurance buys you out for the car and if the car is found, it doesn’t go back to you the tow companies know that it goes straight to the insurance company. Unless you give the insurance company the money back you wont get the car.
I just had someone try to steal my '74 GMC. They broke in and got it started, but I had the foresight to take the shifter inside with me, so they couldn't get it out of gear. They ended up probably dumping the clutch in frustration and destroying the trans. I ended up picking up another saginaw 3 speed for $50 and sticking it in that weekend. About a month later, I had someone break into my other truck (my '98 Suburban) but they never got it started because of my two kill switchs and decoy switch.
Sounds to me like you shouldnt call someone to tell them your motion sensor on your security system isn't working. He was like "yea...I'll get to you...tonight after you're closed" Sone of the most successful Thieves often work for security companys
Sounds like inside jobs to me... As a security professional. You need to do background checks before hiring. It's cheap and easy. Really need to pay attention to the known associates section of the background check and looking at those people
Unfortunately this is also our future as regular citizens. China already determines what you can participate in based on your social credit score. This is partially comprised of your friends and associations.
He's hiring guys to work at a scrapyard. Those don't exactly attract the most successful types. I'm also guessing its a low paying no insurance provided job like most scrapyards. My buddy crushes cars for a family member of his once in while when the yard gets super busy. He always tells me the regular workers there are real pieces of work. Most work there because there's no piss testing or they are drunks that work close enough to walk.
When I worked at brick factory as electrician, there was a very simple system to prevent big theft in the workshop. There are no tools but those, that you brought with you and it's your responsibility . There's only 1 spare part for everything. And some expensive parts, giant cables, all the wire and specialty tools, are locked at all times. In a room with solid walls, no windows and half inch thick, custom steel door that electricians built themselves. Even local security didn't have the key, only 2 chief electricians.
Hearing Bob's stories really rots my socks. Although I'm not currently a businessman, I was brought up in a small business family. It's bad enough that everyone from the government on down is constantly trying to steal from you in one form or another, or even random thieves and robbers. But being a dishonest employee is something I can't stomach. I don't care how little or how much a job pays -- you DO NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU. Don't like the pay or working conditions? Find something better. If you agreed to take the job, that's on you. Honour your bargain. You do not steal from your employer. All of that aside, the unspoken victim is some honest guy looking for a job. Now he's looked at as a potential thief. If I were in Bob's shoes, I would have been sorely tempted to just throw in the towel and give up on people. But God bless guys like Bob who don't give up and stay in business, or give up on fellow humans. I'd be honoured to sweep this man's floor.
We had an 18 yo employee who would pretend to take parts back in inventory and return cash to the pretend buyer, In one year, he stole $50K. HE also stole a set of DYMAGS from my garage. They cost about $3K.
Man what a story! I needed to see this. We kept getting our cars stolen. Not fancy, not desirable for parts cars. Our last anti-theft attempt has been a removable steering wheel! I look like Flava Fav, but far so good.
Sounds like the tools was a inside job also! Someone knew the one weak spot! And used it to take what they could! That’s terrible we live in a world like that! But we all know it, like the old saying “locks only keep honest people out” and that’s bad!
Hey Bob, it's so interesting to finally put a face to a name I've been hearing about for many years now. And rather interestingly you're not at all what id imagined in fact quite a bit younger.
I've had a few cars stolen, but the crazy one was a Geo Tracker. You couldn't lock it because of the soft top, but the locks didn't work anyway. When I bought it it had no keys, so it came with a screwdriver in the ignition and I didn't bother fixing it. One morning I walked out of my apartment building with my trusty screwdriver, but there was no Tracker. Went back in, asked my (now ex)wife wtf happened to my Tracker. No clue. Walked back out to make sure I wasn't crazy, nope, it was gone. I called it in and started looking for a different car since I needed to get to work still. Went to work, overnight shift, did 10 hours. Work about an hour from home. Got dropped off at home and I could see my Tracker over the bushes that lined the parking lot. Walked back around the building and sure enough, my Tracker was back. And it had been washed. And vacuumed. And everything was organized. And the gas tank was full. I wish they had stolen it again every week.
People don't know who can be their best friends, to only betray them. I hope your soul stays clean and don't let these people let your soul down. You have a precious soul, that cannot be stolen.
I do not know how this video slipped past my radar. Your YT short popped up and i dident recognize the story! good job pushing the shorts Ed and team! - walker
Sounds like Euroasian Bob has low quality employees. Transitioning from a junkyard (every junkyard I've gone to has had crappy employees) to a car dealer with same low quality employees won't work. Hopefully everything is better for him now.
@@mycosys not necessarily, an employer can rob from his employees by low pay and/or poor management skills. I don't think Euroasian Bob will steel from his employess. He seems like a cool guy but I don't think his management/leadership skills are up to par.
@@mycosys yeah, to be fair, the only places I’ve worked where employees were stealing were places where employees were underpaid. And I’ve definitely worked in some shops and industries full of shitheads. Employees tend not to fuck over their boss when the boss takes good enough care of them to build loyalty and community. They also tend to work harder. Paying one guy $35/hr, instead of 3 guys $10/hr, is usually the solution to problems like this and that one guy is usually gonna be more productive than 3 assuming the work load is realistic. Not to mention, those 35/hr employees know they’ve got a good gig and tend to not want to jeopardize it. Excellent pay is an excellent way to make sure your crew has a reason to run a tight ship and speak up if the new guy does some dumb shit.
dude i feel so bad for this guy.. you can see around 8:00 how much it breaks his heart to trust people and want to have and operate a business and simply just be successful in the avenues he chose in life and clearly enjoys.. but the terrible people around him that are robbing him blind after he trusts them, allows them to work there and even pays them.. they still turn around and steal everything from him... that must make you feel so small.. so insignificant and like everyone you employ or meet at your business you now have to have this degree of mistrust because you dont know who is there just for the business or passion and who is there to try and rob who they feel is an "easy target" and he might not be per say but you can tell that's how he feels when his voice starts to crackle and his eyes start to get full of tears, he is trying to hold it together for the interview but you can tell how sad it makes this man and that to me, as someone who has a passion for working on cars and bikes and loves and appreciates all tools.. that is truly gut wrenching man. and i know this man doesnt want to take it to extreme levels of trying to guard his business with deadly or lethal means... nobody who has a passion for something wants to soil it with having to do terrible things to keep that business and passion. truly heartbreaking man. i genuinely feel for this guy. i hope everyone who has been robbing this man gets caught and faces penalties that make them rethink being thieves for a living. that's seriously not cool.
I feel that sleeping in the business over night. Had a guy few years back used a sledgehammer to break into our building. Triggered our motion sensors almost immediately. Grabbed a tablet and a few other items and left. I actually stay awake all night staring at my camera monitor sitting in my office
So we had a gas station/truck repair shop off a main highway, and once upon a time it was one of the only gas stations in that stretch of road for miles. If you didn't fill up your tank before you got on the highway, chances are you'd probably run out of gas around that area. There was always people coming to buy gas and a Jerry can to walk back up the road, but there were always people who were willing to steal fuel. Now we also did remounts. Remove good bodies of trucks, removed the chassis, and drive a new one underneath. So needless to say we had a collection of "parts trucks" lined up along the fence. People would often steal gas to get them out of a pinch from the trucks. So every day my old man would walk over to the chassis and fill up those gas tanks with the hose. People eventually caught on and the theft stopped. Thieves can either be really smart, or really stupid
This is why setting up a business in an area with very high crime rate isn't worth the savings in property costs. Also living near your business is almost essential. Just add up the cost of an 30 minute commute 6-7 days a week. Where i live this amount of theft is unheard of.
When i worked at a salvage yard the brothers who owned it was kind. He would let me get parts for my vehicles pennies on the dollar. Why take what you want when you can ask for what you need and sleep sound. Still miss walking the yard checking out the cars.
When it comes to holes in walls firefighters have a saying if your head fits your body can fit and I've watched a firefighter go through the little square that is between two runs on a ladder
This was the wrong link but I seen below that you posted the right link from the short thank you so much and thanks for your crazy stories. My father owned a car dealership for 45 years and then when he retired and we close the shop down I had my own shop for 15-20 years and I could probably tell you some good mind blowers.. 😂 PS; I love that shirt by the way
As someone who returned to an empty parking space I consider car thieves scumbags. And those stealing off people like Bob, especially those he gave a job to, are the worst.
Thats actually horrible. So sad to see people use nice people like that. I've never experienced such a kind employer. I wish my boss was as nice as you
Bro same thing happened to me had someone steal a bunch of my tools a couple years ago and ever since then I lost the passion I had for cars or just fixing shit in general
Towing companies are a strange business. "Hey, good job figuring out that we were the one's that took your car, we would've eventually got your information and reached out to you anyway after a few days at least. Anyway, we found your car parked somewhere it shouldn't have been parked and decided to pick it up and bring it to our personal, gated parking lot. You now owe us lots of money that accumulated each day on top of the cost of picking up your car in the first place." I understand why it's a thing, it's just a strange thing if you think about it, and it's a system that could probably use some improvement.
Towing is legal strong arm robbery for the most part. I loaned a truck to a guy I knew because his car was broken down. Well after like 3 weeks I called him and was like where's my truck? Hes like "I thought you came and got it. i went outside one day and it was gone" No his apt complex had it towed because it wasn't registered with them. I had to pay $750 to get a $1500 truck out of their impound lot. My name was right in the glovebox but they never bothered to look.
In 2010 I had a Hilux 4runner/Surf that needed the rims refurbished and new tyres and the rear suspension was sagging a bit as they do. So I decided to lift the truck a few inches and fit some 33" all terrain tyres on 15" x 10" American racing rims I think the Baja. Being in UK at the time, there isn't really anything else like that and I went off road quite a bit and long trips and it just went everywhere I wanted to go. Anyway 1 month / 4 weeks after driving home with the new wheels on, they were all stolen including the spare over night. I didn't hear a thing even when they dropped the truck onto its brake discs. Was not easy getting it jacked up enough to put the old wheels on. Well a few weeks later, the UK got hit with a couple of inches of snow mid afternoon on a weekday and evening ground to a halt. Eventually I make it somewhere near home where I have to walk for an hour and half because the traffic is at a standstill and guess what, there's a LandCruiser stuck in traffic with my wheels and tyres on. Within the month I owned the wheels I accidentally scratched one with a wrench a tiny bit and water had left marks on all of them and so I had taken photos to send to the wheel shop to ask for some advice over email. I was able to identify these marks while the LandCruiser was in traffic, lit by street lights. Bearing in mind, since the wheels were stolen I was looking every day on eBay and Gumtree looking for someone selling them and they were never listed. I said to the driver they're my wheels. He flipped immediately and began hurling abuse. The windows were really tinted dark and there were passengers so I just said that they're mine, they're marked and got his registration and walked off in the snow. I report it to the police and what happens next is amusing and sad. They go and confiscate the wheels and I go to the station to identify them, with the photos from the email. The police agree that they're the same ones but as my insurance already fixed my car they advised the police to dispose of them. So I guess destroy them. But within that time since the confiscation to this point it's been a few weeks and supposedly the criminal (with many prior convictions of thefts of / from motor vehicles) had been harrassing the police, stating that he purchased them legally from someone on gumtree. So the police 'disposed' of them by simply giving them back to the criminal. And then a few months later he's seen driving, same LandCruiser, same wheels. I forgot to add, that morning they were stolen, the police did send forensics to do finger prints. I was waiting outside in the cold for them because I was really late for work by this time and had to travel far by train. As the forensics girl pulls up in her car, she winds down the window and shouts to me "I'm probably not going to find anything". I look at her in disbelief and say "I'm sorry??" And she repeated. She did explain that because of the damp air it's unlikely she will get prints. To which I responded something along the lines of that she hasn't even seen the car yet, and they did break inside to look for the wheel key. 😐
Getting robbed sucks. Years ago I came home to my apartment to find someone had broken in... my guitars and amps gone, along with my computer and back up drives (which weren't worth much, but had all of my work on them.). I was a starving artist living in a crappy one bedroom apartment and some f-ckhead took everything of value that I owned. It gutted me. I still get pissed off thinking about it.
If an employee steals from me, it will be the last time. Not messing with the court system. There will be no witnesses and it will look like a shop accident with the chop saw.
I came here from a short and you didn't tell the rest of the story from the short. What happened to the guy that was selling your vehicle on Marketplace?
Thrives suck

Had my dealership start from a Autobody shop/classic car salvage yard and had the exact same growing pains you had with thieves that stole from us and the ones that worked for us.
@@theanomalous1401 stayed tuned! I did do an episode on the CFC debacle!
We will be at the Amelia Island Concours this weekend. Come say hello if you see us at the events or filming Car Trek!
Good luck!

i’ve learned the hard way that there’s never any catching a thief that’s already gotten away. guy broke into my garage waved at the cameras took all my tools and left. showed the police and they couldn’t give less of a shit
Thieves dont deserve hands
Problem there is the police dont serve us, just billionaires and politicians.
@@cptbuiltk7944 Oh look its Y'all Qaeda
Robbing from the guy who loaned you a car in your difficult time is messed up at so many level...what is wrong with people
I mean, he loaned him a $1,500 Chevy Cobalt, so... 😜
Drugs, dude was an addict for sure.
part 1
addicts. have a former best friend who i grew up with who was living with another good buddy of mine because they grew up right down the street from eachother.. well my close buddy gave my former best friend a place to live, no rent, he had a room right next to his in my close buddies parents house. my close buddy would buy food for this kid, gave him a place to stay when he had no where to go and no job. we all knew about this kids addictions and we tried to talk to him many many times about it, offered to fly him out to peurto rico to go on a sort of staycation until he was clean and happy again.. he had a place to stay with another good buddy of ours out there, rent free, for as long as he needed, right next to the beach on a tropical island in the carribean. what more could you ask for?
well turns out none of it was appreciated, he ended up stealing my close buddies dad's gold necklace off his parents bedroom wall, that necklace was a solid gold chain with a solid gold crucifix that his dads dad passed down to him, he used to wear it but to not tarnish it or potentially break or lose it, he hung it on the wall and that's where it stayed... turns out that went missing.. then one day i got a call from my close buddy telling me that our former best friend since we were all 6 years old had moved all of his stuff out but still had a key to the house, i told him lets go to home depot, get new locks and change them out, make copies of the keys for your family and not worry about him still having a key.. welp while my close buddy was at work and his family was all at work or out of the house.. our former friend snuck in, went down to my buddies room and took his debit card off his end stand next to his bed, emptied out my close buddies bank account, literally drained it. took the cash and went ghost on evvvvveryone.
we have a small but pretty close friend group since high school, only about 6 of us that are really close and used to hangout and go everywhere together throughout our early 20's, he went ghost on all of us. personally i havent heard from him since all of this went down like 4 ish months ago.. but after he drained my buddies bank account.. my buddy went and reported this to his bank and our local PD.. the bank pulled up the camera feed from the night his account was drained and low and behold.. our former best friend went in with his hood up and took everything from the account, left and got into his car, took his hood down and the camera in the parking lot got a clear shot of his face as he was sitting in his car in the parking lot. the bank sent that photo to my buddy and they also sent it to the local police department.
my buddy gave this kid everything, from a roof over his head to a place to shit and shower everyday, never asked for rent. never expected anything from it, just wanted to help out one of our best friends in his time of need since he had literally no where to go other than sleeping in his car in parking lots. he gave him food, would go grocery shopping for this kid, would go out and get mcdonalds if they were hungry and there wasnt food in the house. his mom and dad would cook for this kid and feed him. my buddy always rode dirt bikes and has a few of them.. whenever we would go out riding he would always invite our former friend.. sometimes he would go and my buddy would always tell him just have fun, he doesnt care if you break the bike as long as you had a good time. he wouldnt even ask you to fix the bike or pay for the parts and my buddy isnt made of money, just works an average job at a car tire dealership. there have been instances where people have broken his bikes or he has and he doesnt stress it at all. super generous kid, way more than me anyways.
yet our former buddy turned around after alllll of that and still stole from him and his family whose house he was staying in for free. tons of things started going missing around the house, from a ps3 in their living room to family heirlooms to expensive gold necklaces that are from nearly 100 years ago to draining every dollar from my buddies bank account.
it was heartbreaking bc this kid was one of my best friends growing up, we had sooo many good times and good laughs.. and to hear he did all of this because of his addictions to drugs and none of us have ever known him to be a bad person.. the best friend i used to know was one of the hardest working and most motivated kids straight out of high school, he was the only kid our age that i knew who held 3 jobs for YEARS, he would always have fuckin WADS of cash in his wallet at all times, im talking no less than $2000 in his pocket everywhere he went. we would go to the casino sometimes and i remember losing the 300$ i went in to play with in like the first 2 hours and was just sitting there watching my friends gamble while i was having a few drinks and he accidentally bet $20 on one number in electronic roullete and that number hit and he got paid back $750 on an accidental bet.. he cashed it and handed all 4 of us who were there an extra $100 bill so we could keep playing and enjoying the night. this same kid turned around and robbed my buddy, his best friend, blind for everything he had, plus family heirlooms and other things from the house.
i guess the moral of my long winded story here is that when people end up addicted to things especially drugs or substances.. they are no longer the person they used to be that everyone knew.. they are now the drugs and that's it. that's all they think about, it's their motivation everyday to get up and active, it becomes their entire personality and consumes every bit of who they used to be.
part 2
since then our former buddy has been on the run, nobody knows where he is. the only reason i know he is still alive is because i see him actively online on instagram every now and then, that little green dot that tells you when someone is browsing instagram. he wont talk to any of us, he probably left the state, definitely left the city we all live in. it's truly a shame too because not just 2 weeks before this all went down, he came by my house while i was changing out my coilovers to a new and better set.. he came by telling me how he got clean and isnt using anymore, sat there and had a whole conversation while helping me install my rear coilovers. this was the day after i just helped him go and pick up and move an engine hoist for his dad who also works on cars but no longer has a truck, his dad also fell on hard times, he is a mechanic but couldnt hold his job because he was diagnosed with cancer and the treatments were kicking his ass, dropped sooo much weight in such a short amount of time. it was rough seeing his dad like that because his dad was always a hard working and dedicated dude, was a single father of 5 kids all around the same age and i remember seeing his struggle when i was a little kid growing up with this kid.. he and his dad were supposed to be swapping this mini vans engine and i knew where the job was bc i just helped drop off the engine hoist to the job site so i went by and picked up my buddy for a test drive with my new coilovers bc we are both into modding cars and he helped swap out my rears since its not a 1 person job or at least not for me since my arms arent nearly long enough to do it by myself.... either way i went over there and he wasnt even helping his dad, just sitting in his own car on his phone while his dad was sweating his ass off (was late summer at the time) underneath this van, working with the guy who was paying for the work instead of his own son who was there to help and get paid for the help. yet he was just sitting on his phone in the car so i walked over and got him to come on a quick test drive and right then and there i knew he just lied to me not 2 hours earlier with his whole "im clean now" story. i knew he was sitting on his phone looking to find his next fix, anticipating his dealers text back.
it's sad man. it's genuinely heartbreaking. but people addicted to drugs are no longer the people everyone knew. they lie out the ass constantly, they put on this façade of being a normal person but underneath they're only thinking about their next fix. it's sad to have to call him my former best friend but after the things he's done to someone he once considered his brother, i refuse to be friends with him. he is no longer the best friend i once had but now he is the drugs that he is taking and i refuse to be friends with crack or heroin. i lended him money that ill never see again and i didnt even care or ask for it back, only to find out he owes a bunch of other people money already. i just wanted to know what was going on with him and if there was any way i could help. there wasnt/isnt. he wont ever change until he realizes the drugs are the problem and tries to separate himself from the drugs and i highly doubt that is going to ever happen now that he is far from home, on the run because he is wanted by the cops for fraud and theft. the worst part of it all is how heartbreaking this has to be for his dad. his dad did everything for him man, everything he could anyways. he was never a wealthy or rich man but he worked hard as fuck and this kid just took advantage of it all the whole time. such a shame because i miss the kid i once knew. always funny af, cracking jokes on everyone even strangers, just loved making people laugh and being goofy, took after his dad in a ton of ways with his work ethic especially.. but somehow got addicted to hard drugs along the way and it absolutely consumed everything of the kid we all once knew and loved to death.
now nobody knows where he is, how he is doing or anything. i dont know if the PD ever found him and picked him up, as far as i know, they havent bc i havent heard any news from any of my other friends on it. it's a pretty touchy subject for everyone right now and nobody knows how to feel, we all are mad as hell at him but we also want to see him better and completely sober, back to his old self.. but even then, how do we go about everything he has done? personally, i could forgive him for ripping me off, i genuinely dont care, as long as he is truly clean and off of the shit he is on now. but i dont know how my close buddy is ever going to feel about this even if he does get clean and sober for the rest of his life, how can you forgive that? stealing from the family that put a roof over your head for free, as a grown ass man, fed you, let you bathe in their bathroom for free. always kept their doors open and unlocked for you whenever, since we were little kids. treated you like family.. and you turn around and steal a necklace that's been in the family for nearly a whole century AND THEN turn around after pawning that and steal a debit card and completely drain the account????? i know if that happened to me, i'd never trust any "friend" again.
life is a bitch sometimes. sometimes you can have everything going for you and still manage to lose it all and sometimes you can have nothing at all but still give what you can and someone will come along and still steal everything from you without any regard or any appreciation for the generosity you're giving even when you have next to nothing to give. apparently, that's life.
The most shocking part of this story is the tow company not cleaning out the valuables from the car.
Hard to tell what they did keep
I never take anything from cars I tow. I might look through your stuff though :) If I see a wallet or phone or whatever I will hide it under something so nobody can see it through the window. I will admit I pissed in someone's back seat once because they were running lacquer for people to huff.

You (personally - considering the horror stories about some of your employees 😮 ) might need to discreetly add some apple airtags into your vehicles and just remove them once the vehicle has been sold. Great stories otherwise.
might need to fire them all & just start working alone
There is a fleet management company called spireon that makes a GPS device specifically for this

Wonderful storytelling as always Bob! So wild to hear about all of the things that have happened over the years!
Thanks Elliott! I enjoy yours as well!
I just had my car stolen out of my own garage, so I'm feeling this right now.
That sucks. Someone burned my vehicle a couple years ago, was an '01 tahoe, so I think I know how you feel. That thing had like 300k on it but was the most reliable thing I ever owned. What year and what kind of car was it?

That's normal. If insurance has paid out for the theft of a vehicle, then even if it is recovered it is no longer your vehicle - it belongs to the insurance company.

Last time I was this early, EuroAsian Bob was suspected of being the Urine Bandit.
Euroasian Bob stories are the best!
He was like "yea...I'll get to you...tonight after you're closed"
Sone of the most successful Thieves often work for security companys
That sounds pretty extreme… Of all the places I’ve worked I’ve never seen or heard about theft that rampant.
That GT bicycle!
The more employees you have the more cameras you need.
Bob has the greatest ability to making it all real. I gotta tip my hat off to him!! Great believable story
Yes but it was the OWNER'S tools that were stolen.
I swear I thought it was urination bob for the longest time
Euroasian Bob you seem like a really cool guy. I’d probably be pretty jaded after dealing with these kind of scenarios!
Why doesn't this match the short that has this linked
We had an 18 yo employee who would pretend to take parts back in inventory and return cash to the pretend buyer, In one year, he stole $50K. HE also stole a set of DYMAGS from my garage. They cost about $3K.
LOVING Bob's stories! ...I come for Ed, I stay for Bob.

Man what a story! I needed to see this. We kept getting our cars stolen. Not fancy, not desirable for parts cars. Our last anti-theft attempt has been a removable steering wheel! I look like Flava Fav, but far so good.
My father is a buisness owner and stuff like this is why he doesn’t keep any of his nicest things at the shop
Sounds like the tools was a inside job also! Someone knew the one weak spot! And used it to take what they could! That’s terrible we live in a world like that! But we all know it, like the old saying “locks only keep honest people out” and that’s bad!
Please more Euroasian Bob!

That faulty motion sensor was an inside job.
There is no way they would go for that room specifically without knowing.

Sounds like Euroasian Bob has low quality employees. Transitioning from a junkyard (every junkyard I've gone to has had crappy employees) to a car dealer with same low quality employees won't work. Hopefully everything is better for him now.
Kinda sounds like he's a low quality employer to me. Only bosses i've heard get robbed that much were robbing their employees in the first place.
@@mycosys What do you even mean by robbing the employees? And either way it's no justification for stealing all manner of shit from your boss
@@mycosys not necessarily, an employer can rob from his employees by low pay and/or poor management skills. I don't think Euroasian Bob will steel from his employess. He seems like a cool guy but I don't think his management/leadership skills are up to par.
@@tomstaunton1804 I agree, but low quality people don't care for justification or logic for that matter.
The story from the short wasn't in there! Wtf!
I feel your pain. Specialty tools can’t be replaced and to think your stuff probably was traded for there drug habits. A 10 dollar rock!!!🤬
When the theme comes on does anyone else think of Ed dancing in some European dance club?
Ahh, Urination Bob💡
But seriously, maybe you need to nail a few of those creeps to a wall to show 'em who's boss. Sorry you've had that bad luck.
Were going heavy on the crime this week I see.
We’re*
Yes.. Elliot stole your manual v70r
Nothing worse than a thief! On a better note, Bob, you always seem to find the coolest stuff!
Thief > Rapist > Murderer
When i worked at a salvage yard the brothers who owned it was kind. He would let me get parts for my vehicles pennies on the dollar. Why take what you want when you can ask for what you need and sleep sound. Still miss walking the yard checking out the cars.
as a Wichita ks native its crazy to here my local area on here.
"I had four cars stolen in thirty days" Jeez Bob might wanna take the keys OUT of the car lmao
😂 PS; I love that shirt by the way
This guy seems really genuine.. Its always the good guy's that this shit happens to.
*At this point, I'm pretty sure it's a combination of his lack of awareness, and the people in that town being shady as hell.*
As someone who returned to an empty parking space I consider car thieves scumbags. And those stealing off people like Bob, especially those he gave a job to, are the worst.
Who knew that Wichita would spawn one of the best auto RUclips groups out there!
Thats actually horrible. So sad to see people use nice people like that. I've never experienced such a kind employer. I wish my boss was as nice as you
I like these urination Bob videos…Bring him back more often!
it's euroasian bob

Bro same thing happened to me had someone steal a bunch of my tools a couple years ago and ever since then I lost the passion I had for cars or just fixing shit in general
0:01 in and my very first reaction was, "Whatttttttt?"
:) love that shirt Bob!
Truth!
Used car dealer says he’s not a thief! Kidding, Unrination Bob! You’re killing it as a story teller. Keep ‘em coming!
Where's the rest of the story from the short video about the truck ? Didn't see that mentioned in this video
People suck and responsibility and accountability for their own failings is a thing of the past. It sucks that we have to be suspicious of everyone.
Bob "Hey Alarm guy, I need you to come replace this faulty sensor"
Alarm Guy: "Hey Bill? I got a job for you..."
You now owe us lots of money that accumulated each day on top of the cost of picking up your car in the first place."
I understand why it's a thing, it's just a strange thing if you think about it, and it's a system that could probably use some improvement.
I still get pissed off thinking about it.
bud that sucks so much. People like that are why we need to go back to removing hands for theft
Your alarm guy was in on the robbery with your tools.
If an employee steals from me, it will be the last time. Not messing with the court system. There will be no witnesses and it will look like a shop accident with the chop saw.
Bob! I didn't know you were into BMX bikes! We could have talked about that for hours
I'd like to work for Bob I'm honest.i appreciate honesty
Wow, that is terrible.
I bet those parents are proud.
I came here from a short and you didn't tell the rest of the story from the short. What happened to the guy that was selling your vehicle on Marketplace?
