You can get all plastic hinges on EBay or Amazon and just glue them on with Polycarbonate glue or some other glue of your choice. No metal and no rust dripping onto the water.
Why does no one not use Acrylic Sheet's a 11 in. x 14 in. x .093 in piece is only 6.97 at Home Depot and its clear no ridges, I mean for 1 or 2 aquariums it cheap!
My acrylic lid definitely warped, so I had to keep flipping them over every other day due to the acrylic sheet bowing under the light. I even glued on extra pieces of acrylic for support but there was still bowing. I switched to glass since it is easy and will not warp. you may need a thick piece of acrylic in-order to avoid warping.
These sheets are NOT good because within time, these sheets will bellow & sag into the tank. Especially, the longer length they are, the faster they will bellow. You’re better using glass since they do not bellow.

I will be looking this up! Still battling hinges
Polycarbonate is the best, and you can cut it with a Stanley knife(Craft knife).

The only reason I stopped using those was because they'd warp easy. They do work well though!
