one thing we can all agree, is that the italian is the best.
But seriously, the fact that Netflix doesn't use the English dub should be considered a war crime.
Marc Diraison take the Win for me.
Marc wins and it's not even close... the husky voice and stifled shrieks is exactly what I would expect a man like Guts to sound like. Can't imagine another man's voice as Guts, seriously.
I'd say Jon Bernthal.
The way marc screams it, you feel not only the anger, but the heartbreak. He sounds like he's crying all while fueled by the most Carnivorous RAGE
Canna sounds good here, but I feel like he could have done better. The Griffith scream is great but the final scream at the end is honestly underwhelming and the echo effect is lame.
None of it even comes close to what I believe 20 years later is still Marc's best work ever put in as Guts in any Berserk dub. His yells are forever burnt into my mind and the pure hatred and pain is so perfect. The Griffith scream is genuinely iconic and I think Marc's version cemented it as a piece in Berserk history. And that final scream at the end man just...holy. I got so much chills the first time I heard it. Marc's performance here is honestly one of my favorite dub performances of all time, it's THAT good.

I never watched the dub, but in this scene... I gotta admit I like it.

Crazy thing is, Canna-sensei was actually pretty good voicing as Guts, yet Marc still better than him.
I mean it’s not like Marc also doesn’t kill it as well, he grew from being a solid pick to literally BEING the character by the end of it
All things considered, it's pretty much about the relationship between how the character looks and how you imagined his voice should be like. Nobutoshi Canna is by no means a slouch, but I would argue that guys like Kenta Miyake and Tetsu Inada would fit Guts a bit better 🤔🤔🤔
Marc Diraison is always going to be Guts.

Idk Canna seems pretty solid to me but it all depends on tastes at the end of the day.

@@tailedgates9 I get you may have seen ppl that comment such things but have trust that not everyone is like that. I geniunely love the original Japanese voices for this anime and the later Dreamcast and PS2 games that came out years after cause they have a continuity in the voice work which unfortunately it's not a common thing outside of Japanese media. I hope you give it a chance one day :)
@@DaHeis Berserk's sub is great, I just prefer the dub, especially for Guts and Void. (John Avner has a nice voice too.) Not every sub lover is like that, obviously, but the ones who are really give genuinely nice sub lovers a bad name. Lol

no, the funimation dub of dragon ball SUCKS! Now if we talk about Kai, you can make an argument with that but is not better than the Japanese for the most part.
Cowboy Bebop and Gundam 79' are better examples.

@@porkbandit1107 Masako Nozawa at least knows how to act, but the problem with the dub of Dragon Ball is more than just the questionable voice acting, it's the fact that the dialogue is very different from the original to the point of being completely opposites of each other and affecting the characters personalities.
Berserk doesn't have this problem, the dialogue is mostly the same as the Japanese one with some slight changes that do not affect the characterization of the characters or the plot.
